I love my VTX1800C. But sometimes I don't feel like muscling it out of the garage and just end up getting out my mint 2001 VT1100C Honda Shadow Spirit.
After a 40 yr break from motorcycle riding I got a GS1150. Just bought a '02 VTX to balance things. And yes bikes are a invigorating reminder what it means to be alive at 70 Yrs in my case. Hope to wear out both machines in next 20 yrs and get a Burgman.
My friend and I got new bikes at the same time about a week ago. He got a 2020 Indian Dark Chieftain 1900, while I got an 02' VTX 1800 just like the one in this video. It even has the same pretty red / orange color depending on how much sunlight is showing, but it is probably a bit louder since this one has vance and hines pipes on it. My friend took it for a spin after getting used to his Indian and I could tell he was kind of disappointed at the fact that he payed about 6 times as much for his bike and it ALMOST has as much power as my VTX. Although, not gonna lie, his bike looks way cooler and is EXTREMELY comfy. All in all, the VTX is definitely the "Most bang for your buck" kind of bike and I already love it
@@jamiehartwig4788 What's funny is now, 2 years later after this original comment, I already switched to the dark side. Sold my VTX about a year ago and bought a Harley Street glide CVO with the 110 Screamin Eagle Kit. I thought my VTX was the most badass bike out there, but what that Honda lacked in comfort, my Harley made up for in both that department and power LOL
@jamiehartwig4788 hell yeah man. I like the Indians too but they're even more expensive than Harleys (at least most of them are). I recently got a sportster 1200 that I unfortunately dumped the day after I got it. Some idiot pickup turned in front of me. His insurance will be paying though at least
I have a 2002 vtx 1800 C and yes it's a great running motorcycle ☠️ honda vtx was way beyond its time and it's a great riding motorcycle and it put all my Harleys to shame 😀
I bought a VTX 1800c new off the showroom floor in 2004, it is a 2003 model , Illusion Blue. Been riding it now for 18 yrs. Still low miles. After all this time I decided that I needed another bike, a Triumph Bonneville, which I purchased in like new condition, a 2001 with only 2600 miles. Anyway, I'm not selling the Honda because I like it too much, can't get a decent price for it. My Honda mechanic keeps bugging me to sell it to him...I can't bring myself to do it. The VTX is like an old friend, and it hauls ass. The Triumph is something I've always wanted and it is light and easy...The wife likes both. Happy riding all!
Hi Sean, I'm a beginner biker, finishing up my second summer of riding, bought my first bike Suzuki VS 750 Intruder 1991 last year, looking to upgrade. Would you recommend getting Honda VTX 1800 as my second bike?
This was the third bike I ever rode, and it was an easy ride, I went from a Suzuki 185 2-stroke to a gl1000, to the GTX 1800. I was by no means an experienced rider and I was able to handle this bike fairly well. I know you posted that 3 years ago, but to anyone looking to this comment for advice, this is an amazing bike, though I personally prefer something smaller.
I was shopping for a Harley when I found my 2002 Honda VTX 1800S my nephew has 2 Harleys a 2011 haritage and 2014 street glide my son has an older Electra glide. in my opinion my Honda is more dependable rides better looks better . And it is faster and more horse power . I love it I only paid $2,000. I took it to the local motorcycle shop and was looking at a 2004 Fatboy they offered me $3,900 trade in on my Honda towards the Fatboy for $6500 I would of had to pay $2,600 difference after the second test ride I backed out . Keeping the X !
Sean why did you change your path of test drives? i know you used to turn around in a parking lot and then you would get on it harder, they get mad about you turning around there?
I sold the first VTX 1800 that I had because I thought I wanted a Suzuki M109R2 , boy was I wrong. Both of them are great motorcycles, but the Honda VTX runs and rides much better. I'm really not sure which one has the better KBB value, but I sold my 109 for $5,000 dollars then I bought my 2004 VTX for $3,500 but the Guy was really desperate to sale it because" both his motor and transmission went out on his work truck! He brought it to me from lower Alabama on a trailer, wich was a little over 400 miles from my shop. I felt like I had to throw him a little something, something, for doing that for me.
I liked the your VTX videos. I was in doubt between VTX and others, because I will also use it in traffic, but no matter their size, I love this engine. Thanks
I've owned most brands, British, Japanese, and of course American, but none of them can beat Honda's reliability, comfort, speed, curb appeal, and value for bucks spent! None! Be careful out there! Seeya
well it depends alot on the type of bike, and obviously how it was maintained, but i sell alot of harley with over 100k on them and if maintained well, they feel amazing
Ha ha thank you Sean very funny :) I am sure if I can fit on my Kawasaki VN1500 I could fit on a Honda F6C Valkyrie, Your lucky you look about 10 foot tall HAHAHAH
Save your money find a deal offer less than they are asking you would be surprised guy was asking $4,000 for my motorcycle I offered $2000 and he took it !
Just traded for an '02 VTX 1800. Best trade I've made in a long time!!!
yeah these things are great this one just sold, i loved riding it

If you know how to ride you can almost know how to handle any type of bike

+kesslan winters sounds good to me
Srkcycles well went to go get it today and the guy that had it wasn't even the guy that was on the title :-/
How much of a difference is there between the 02-07 models?

How long are the engines typically good for?
80,000+. They are well-engineered.
80,000 +. They are well-engineered.
100k if you service it regularly
99-03 road King vs. vtx 1800?
Even vs a 2021 road king, the vtx is better and faster
Thought site said 2003?
Im about to pick up a 2005 1800c with 16k miles for $4399
Hard to trust someone who says the phrase "That's a good looking van"
