We used to say, “nothing like a little poverty to make you humble “ and “hard work builds character “. The older I get, the more truth I see in this.
As I have said in the past I'm 72 and growing up on a farm we had to push through or nothing got done ..we all had tasks to complete each day ..our success of providing for the next year depended on it..some how when working as a family together the hole process did build charter this was a way of life and we all are much better off having this kind of experience be part of us...I tried to teach this way of living to my children.. all of them are successful..and love the Lord.
Thank you Richard! I love the memories you have 😀
❤
You can take pride in that!
Yes but it was a good life..As a kid I would put big black rubber boots feeding baby calf's those big bottles they would chug a bottle in about a min.picking rocks out of a field.Every thing on the farm had a purpose.Even the family dog was a bird dog during bird hunting.Canning in August.great life
Some of my best memories are snapping peas, shelling beans, shucking corn, & picking in the garden with my PawPaw & MawMaw. Listening to their stories was priceless & even more these days!
Thank you, Tipper and Matt for inviting into your yard. I never get tired listening about gardening! Tell Miss Cindy I’m praying for her!😊🇨🇦🙏
Thank you Gary! We appreciate you 😀
Tipper, hearing Pap and Paul sing always brings me to such sweet tears. First, just to hear father and son sing so beautifully, and, second just to feel the Spirit of God through their voices. Pap had such a gift, and so does Paul. I’m sure Paul misses singing with his Dad so much. So glad you include these wonderful clips with Pap in them. ♥️🙏🏼🙏🏼♥️
I have bears frequently walk through my yard even in daytime. I've lived here 31 years and it is normal to me. They've never bothered anything but I have respect for them and keep my distance. As Matt said I'm not afraid of them, I'm more afraid of walking through Walmart.
😀 Thank you for visiting with us!
💁♀️Walmart can be a Scary place 🧐
Ahh, those mountain laurel blossoms are breath-taking, really magnificent when you look at the detail. We see such beauty and how can we not praise God for His gifts, I mean the subtle detail is just awe-inspiring. Everything there is looking SO GOOD! That's a lot of hard work, we know. THANK YOU Tipper & Matt. Continuing to lift Miss Cindy up in prayer, please tell her for me. 💞 🙌🏼
Tipper, I lost my hubby of 50 years in 2019 and I miss my best friend so much!! So I want to tell you how good it makes me feel watching you and Matt sitting and chatting together. My husband and I did that all the time and I miss that so much! I hope you have many many more years together. Cherish each other because you never know how much time you have left!
Bless you! I'm so sorry you lost him. I am glad you enjoy our videos!!
Your garden is looking fab already!
Matt, you really are a ‘good un’ - love your excitement over a tomato sandwich.
Thank you!!
My husband called Apple Fritters, "cow pies". Our daughter was just old enough to go in the donut shop to get one by herself. She can stomping out there, got in the car, slammed the door and said "DAD! They are called Apple Fritters NOT cow pies"!! We laughed so hard and still tease her about that and she is 40 now!!!
Love that!! Too cute 😀
Talking about tomatoes reminded me that when I was a kid, there was nothing better than going to the garden, getting a warm from the sun tomato, grabbing the Morton salt box from the kitchen, sitting on the porch and eating the mater all the way to the green end. It was wonderful. Love your talks with Matt after a hard day's work. ❤❤
Tipper you are so blessed to have such a hardworking , good, kind & loving husband.
I really am! I appreciate him 😀
My grandson told his friends I was putting kickamals in the pool. Chemicals. And another grandson said, "God is great. God is good. Thank you ladies for this food. We all still call chemicals kickamals. And we thank the ladies for the food! Aren't kids wonderful?
I love those examples of kids saying things Kate 😀
So grateful Miss Cindy has you,Matt and the girls. HRd time for all of you. Praying for her comfort and your strength.
I'm with Matt hot weather is not my favorite. God be with you.
Thank you Susan 😀
I just love watching y'all, you are a fine example of a fine couple ❤❤❤❤
You are so kind-thank you 😀
🐻🫐🍇Enjoyable video visiting with you !
Mountain Laurel is so beautiful. I remember yrs ago when my son Matt was like a toddler on mother's day went outside and a mystery person had left abunch of Mountain laurel on my windshield. ❤❤❤
Love that Cindy 😀
I'm sure half the fun for Matt is getting to drive around on that four-wheeler! Stay safe!
😀 Thank you Mitch
I love watching and listening to you both. At 72, it reminds me of my growing up on the farm and a huge garden. We, as a familyworked together and got it done. Now, it's my daughter, grands, and great grands and son in law, grand son in law working together. Love this way of life. Prayers continue for Miss Cindy and all of you. God bless you and yours❤🙏🙏❤
Love and prayers for you and your family ❤
Thank you!!
Looking good Tipper, God bless you and your family God bless Ms Cindy with healing and health in Jesus name give him a hand Tipper 🖐️
the reason I watch this channel the most is because of the relationship between you and your husband. My husband of 50 years passed in March. I will never stop loving or missing him. You and Matt remind me of me and my husband. My husband would do anything for me. And he would let me decide what and how I wanted to do it. Yet he was the strength of this family but he would stand back and let me think I was. Ha! I knew better. Now I at times feel lost and always lonely. I don't think I have stopped crying. If not for Jesus I would not have nothing at all. My husband and I told each other I love you everyday. I would imagine you and Matt do the same. You come to a place where you just become the same person. It becomes easy even when it is hard. God bless you both and never let a day go by that you do not say I love you.
Bless you! I'm so sorry you lost him. I just can't imagine. I will be praying for you!! I'm glad Matt and I remind you of good times!!
One of my sweet nieces used to call her swimming/bathing suit her "begging" suit! Always so cute. 😍😍
😀
Continued prayers for Ms Cindy and your family. Hope you have had a blessed Sunday!
My daughter called a bologna sandwich a “bony Samitch”😂 Elephants, ephlants. Thanks for sharing your day. You & Matt are so well suited. God definitely paired y’all together ❤🙏🏻😇❤️
😀 Love that!
Here in the high Mtns of Appalachia the Rhododendrons have already bloomed & have shed their blossoms...
Fortunately my soil is rich...but unfortunately there are way too many rocks...the creek used to flow here....but the flood in the late nineties caused the creek to be rerouted...There are quite a lot of large rocks too...I still own the creek it's just on the other side of the road.
I am thankful to be back home in the Mtns again...
Thank you Cindy! Glad you are back home 😀
Garden looks good with the mulch. Loved the chat and listening to you guys. Guys y'all are in our prayers. God bless
Thank you!! Hope you all have a good week 😀
The Mountain Laurel is so pretty! Love to listen in on your & Matt's chats. You both make me smile! Prayers & Blessings always for your sweet family. Your family makes Appalachia shine. 🌿🌸😊☀️
You are so kind-thank you Janet!
We had our first tomato sandwich today. We found three nice beautiful red tomatoes yesterday. So excited!!
Wonderful 😀
“Good time to get the flu” …lol…Matt is so funny. “ building character on a lake”……love watching you work and talk afterward while eating popsicles.
You make me tired just watching your video Tipper! 😂. Thank you and Matt for sharing.
Thank you Robin for visiting with us 😀
One thing about mulch....it sure makes the whole garden look neat and clean....finished, I reckon. I love the looks of it, for sure.
Awe wait every Sunday for you and your family. Thank you. Prayers for your family.
I'm so glad you enjoy our videos 😀
I love to hear stories of your family. The words our kids say wrong becoming part of each family's normal. My youngest and only boy had a really good sense of direction. At age 3 or 4 He would ride along with my Dad, who was a Barber, but on his day off would deliver Barber supplies to other shops all over the area. One day we were driving somewhere and my son announced in the Car, "hey, I re-necker-nize this place!" I was here with Grandpa!
😀 love that!
Tipper you and Matt are doing great even if it feels like you aren't. It's getting done. Being a care taker when someone you love is ill they of course come first. I have much admiration and respect for all 4 of you being there for Miss Cindy.
I just love the way Matt has gotten more comfortable on the videos and funny and silly. He's such a delight. I think I tune in just to watch him! A real man! Lisa in San Diego
Several years ago I was working in Aspen, Colorado for a couple of weeks. My husband took some days off to go with me. I told him I wanted to see a bear so after work one afternoon we drove around the mountains. It’s was so beautiful, but I didn’t see a bear. We drove back into town and we were driving through neighborhoods looking at houses and right in someone’s driveway were two black bears digging in the trash. I was so pumped to see the bears, but was surprised to see them right in a normal neighborhood like that.
Oh goodness 😀
Enjoy seeing you work in the garden I'm with Matt give me plenty of light bread and mayonnaise and those fresh tomatoes. Praying for miss Cindy and all your family.
Tipper I think Outshine should support your channel! I love them too because of you and Matt. Love your garden, family and all the precious videos you share.
Prayers for Miss Cindy! Prayers for Granny! Prayers for you and Matt plus precious Katie, Nick,Korie, Austin!
Matt’s got a great sense of humor, lol. I enjoy watching you two in your element. Good folks!
Most important take care of miss Cindy..
LOL the chicken sounded tired too. Tipper time to duck tape them shoes haha. So funny Matt needs to get some shoes to go with his outfit and the hambinger. My youngest called popcorn Ockdoon and cornbread dune bade, we still call it that haha, people think we are a bit off when we do. the shot of the bank you can really tell how steep it is with the angle you showed today Tipper. hr bear must have thought these people just serve "chicken feed" here dont think I will be back....LOL. Ya'll are just so cute and funny. Hard work makes ya tough is what we heard growing up. Keeping Miss Cindy in my prayers.
Thank you 😀 Love ockdoon and dune bade 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachiaisn't that funny!! When one of nephews was little,my name is Verna but he called me "dangar"!! Hard "g". So some of my family called me dangar sometimes for fun!!
@@vernareed2692 😀
I find these videos delightful. You and Matt remind me of the marriage me and my hubby have. He’s the best and very similar to Matt. A built-in best friend, couldn’t be more wonderful
And hard working and supportive. ❤🙏🏻 Thank you for these videos! Enjoy them so much!
when I first started my asparagus 10 yrs ago..I was hoping to get enough to eat..now Im that person dropping asparagus like zucchini..im harvesting 25lbs a week easily

@@snownurse Thank you! Is it chicken manure?
Your videos are always so enjoyable to watch. I like watching you both banter back and forth. It is so obvious that you both love each other dearly. It just warms my heart. Sending lots of loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
Watching you and Matt work together, enjoying and loving one another is precious. It's like reliving my younger days all over again, making memories in the same ways as my husband and I used to do. It was good to hear that Miss Cindy ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and is with her family. Y'all go fix ya some hambingers 🤗 and get some much needed rest. Praying for you all 🙏💕
Ms.Tipper, you need to get more rest, you look tired. Will be praying for you and the family.
My Momma always told us when there was something we didn't want to do that it Builds Character! Such an important lesson to teach our kids and grandkids!
I so much enjoy just listening to the 2 of you talk!!! Thank you for sharing with us!!! Stay cool!!!!! I can't wait for the update on the garden!!! God Bless!!!!!
Thank you Lori!!
Praying for ms Cindy, yep hard work pays off
Thank you!
Thank you Tipper and Matt fer letting us join you! I really like Matt’s bucket hat and bandana. I’m looking forwards to some fried green tomatoes and fried yellow squash!
I remember my grandmother calling earrings earbobs. It was so funny to us girls but very fitting for the ones she had. She didn’t have pierced ears. Hers kinda looked like decorated buttons. She also wore hats. But only when she really dressed up. Shopping day for her was a dress up day so she wore her hat! I just loved her so much. And she loved us! She’s been gone 30 plus years.
The garden is looking great! I’m excited to see it after the mulch is in place. It looks so nice and neat. Thanks for sharing this part of your life.
I just LOVE listening to you. I get laughed at when I say Tommy toe tomatoes. It's so nice to hear someone that talks like me!
😀 I'm so glad!
Your garden is looking great…my container Cherokee Purple tomatoes started out great but now they are looking puny, we have a sprinkler system so they are getting plenty of water, but maybe too much with rain showers they are cracking before they get very big….enjoyed listening to y’all chat with the popsicle break….
Continued prayers for Miss Cindy & all the family🙏🤗❤️
Thank you Brenda!!
Y’all are so cute together , good days work always feels good
Blueberry cherry tomatoes get a little red towards the bottom when they are ripe. The garden looks great! 🌱🌱🌱🌱😃
Thank you for that tip!! Thank you 😀
When we were kids I dont know who started it sandwiches were referred to as swanwiches. I told my grandmother when she was trying to say sandwich "i dont wanna say sandwich I wanna say swanwich". My Grampa Charlie laughed about it til the day he died. Today everyone in my family still calls them swanwiches.
😀
I love to just watch you and Matt just sit and talk. It shows what simple and patience love you both have for each other after all your yrs together. Thank you for sharing and letting us all see what real love should be.😊
You two are awesome super couple always workings as a team together, take care and God bless 🙏
Love watching you & Matt eat your popcisles, I can relate to so many of your stories...and a good ole popscisle makes the end of the day a good day...prayers to Miss Cindy...
I do so admire how passionate you and Matt are doing your task from start to finish preparing for your garden for a successful harvest. Hard work but worth the it when your pantry and freezer full for good winter food on the table. Tipper love all your great meals you share with us, Matt does great job helping u prepare meals as well.
We have clay soil here in Missouri. We have 2 compost bunkers. Soil is much better now. We use straw to keep weed growth under control. Have a great week Folks
Thank you for watching 😀
Sadly, here in Missouri, you have either clay, or rocks!! It can be challenging.
It’s always fun dropping by to see what you and Matt are up too. Garden looks so good! Enjoy hearing y’all’s stories of things gone by and the woodland animals that have unexpectedly paid y’all a visit. Good visit, thanks for letting us drop in by video.
We bought a small wood chipper and all year long we drag branches and sticks from the dead wood of our trees on the property. Come April we feed it to the chipper and we have garden mulch. Which is so much better than having to burn off the yard waste and buy mulch!!! I need a garden your size!
Love your popsicle talks! Can't wait for the garden to come in. God Bless your sweet family and Prayers for Ms Cindy
Tipper, I got a pair of Sloggers for the garden, and I love them! Easy to slip on, slip off, water and mud proof!
Thank you! I will look for them 😀
They are great! I’ve heard you can coat them in the clear flex seal and they will last a very long time.
I laughed so hard when Matt said, "Why don't you call an Uber to bring us something to eat?" He is a comedian. He has made me laugh like that many times.
Your gardens are just beautiful Tipper 💐
Thank you Renee!!
Looking Good
You look so tired Tipper, you have so much on your plate. Take care of yourself while you take care of your family.. Love and prayers for all of you!
Hey Tipper & Matt...yall be careful out in that heat.. stay hydrated & drink lots of water or Gatorade...tell Matt he better not make you mad you'll try & sell his truck...ha! I hope this is ok to ask but I've been watching videos about a moonshiner named Popcorn Sutton who lived over in Haywood County...isn't that where Matt's from? They mentioned Parrotsville & Maggie Valley ...can you ask him if he ever heard of him...can't wait to keep seeing the garden & everything growing...yall have a good evening...🐻🍅🥒🌶
Thank you Laura! We've both heard of Popcorn 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia...oh how neat...yeah wgen they were talking about Haywood County, I was like I know about that...I enjoyed listening to Popcorn tell about his life & history & also loved his accent...Thanks Tipper
I bet Matt gets on your nerves lol. He such a comedic relief. Thank you, Matt!
You guys have this right and it's so nice to see both of you enjoying these tasks together ❤❤
Who woulda thunk watching nice people do their gardening would make me feel so good. Peach is my favorite.
😀
My daughter called strawberries, sawstreebies when she was two. My girls said so many adorable things as all children do. Your garden looks beautiful. When you work hard it does make you tired. My mother used to call that “a good kind of tired.”
Love prayers to your family thank you Tipper and Matt for the video
I got peach Outshine and I couldn’t stay away from them. My sister in NC told me about them years ago and then I see you both snacking on them. Mmmmm
I love the peach 😀
I love anything peach, peach popsicle, peach tea, peach cobbler, peach ice cream is so good. Rest well tonight! ❤
Hi There! The garden looks fantastic! Speaking of tomato and mayonaise sandwiches yum!), have you tried making your own mayonaise? It's easy, if you follow only a couple of simple rules. First, use light oils -- light olive oil (not the heavy peppery extra virgin -- too heavy). Excellent choices are almond oil (a bit expensive but very, very healthy and makes a top notch mayonaise)(also almond oil makes a fantastic moisturizer -- a few drops will do and it absorbs into the skin after a few minutes). Then, there's avocado oil -- for mayonaise, that is. Makes a light green, very earthy, flavorful mayonaise. It is recommended to stay away from canola, soybean and other "common" cooking-type vegetable oils. So, mix one to three egg yolks (some use one or two whole eggs -- experiment), a good teaspoon of Dijon mustard (only Dijon), a tablespoon or two of lemon juice, a pinch of salt. Mix these with a blender stick in pulses. Then, add the oil -- bit by bit -- and pulse longer or dribble the oil in continuously and blend continuously until oil runs out and till mayonaise is light and glistening. Lots of recipes online to give you proportions. You can also use a blender or food processor. I think I've even used my Kitchen Aid mixer -- but a blending stick is easiest. Some try mixing the egg, lemon, mustard, etc., and dropping this mixture into the cup or so of oil and just blend with a stick till light and glistening. Compare a few recipies and experiment. Homemade mayonaise is much tastier, much cheaper, much healthier and you don't have to drive to the grocery store. You can whip up a batch at a moment's notice (less than 6 minutes) for the day or for the week. And there are no additives or preservatives. My personal favorite is almond-oil mayonaise. Then, of course, you can add anything else you want -- herbs, garlic, a pinch of cayenne, grated lemon or orange rind -- whatever suits your fancy. God bless!
Thank you 😀 I've never tried but always wanted to 😀 How long will it last in the fridge?
Your garden is looking great. I’m also waiting for my first fresh tomato sandwich. I’m drooling just thinking about it. I know others as well don’t mind black snakes around their property but not me. I’m deathly petrified of any snake. Continued prayers for Miss Cindy. God bless y’all! 😀❤️
I’m always inspired and impressed by your work ethic. I planted a hydrangea today and that was enough😂
Don’t change where your chair sits. Such a lovely and peaceful view. Enjoyed your video today.
I've worn Redwings for 30 years and recently a pair of Thourogoods. The Redwings for the past 2 pair have fallen apart and seperated. The Thourogoods, it's misspelled so , have held up but they have shifted in the insides and cannot wear them. US made and no good. You are correct they don't last anymore. I'm a home builder and I work, I don't just drive around, and I can flat wear out some gloves, heavy duty clothing and shoes! Love what ya'll do.
Ive had heat sickness... please be careful in the heat Matt!
You both make a person feel like they are visiting 💝
Thank you!
I’m so glad 😀
Yall need a small tractor with a front end loader to move all that mulch and garden soil will save Matt's back the garden looks nice ordered one of your cook books yesterday Saturday and today 95 down here in North Mississippi
Thank you John! Matt would love that 😀 95 that is hot!
a storm cam through a couple nights ago and blew over my whole garden, my husband was up early to stand it all back up. He couldn’t find the T post hammer and I told him Matt does it with a sledge hammer.. I kept thinking of y’all while he was driving the posts and he fixed my garden!! ❤
😀
Fried tomatoes green 👍
😀 Matt loves them!
The mulch is practical and looks good.
We enjoy your video's so much, and thank you for letting us into your family! I think my favorite parts are when you guys sit and talk to us while eating your popsicles, it's just an enjoyable thing for me. I agree with Matt about the mayonnaise..gotta have that around when those maters get ripe, oh here's nothing better than a big fresh juicy tomato sandwich! My mom also loves the Cherokee purples. It's always so good to be able to enjoy eating things that you've planted and tended with your own two hands, that's just a special kind of thing. Thanks again for sharing your time with us, we love y'all and prayers for Miss Cindy
Thank you Paula! So glad you enjoy them 😀
You and Matt are so laid back I feel myself relaxing and unwinding with you. You makes me wishful for my Glen we ha 28 years of a great marriage but it does get soooo lonely, have to tell u having found u and your family certainly gives me such joy and I learn so much about Appalachia but mostly making myself a part of your family. Thank you for being such a lovely family for us to enjoy!
I'm sorry you lost Glen!! Thank you for the kind words about our family-we appreciate you 😀
Loved using a pitch fork for yard work.Great for picking up pine straw.
Thank you for watching 😀
I got me some of them Little Debbie Peanut butter cookies!
Thanks Matt ! Got me some Dukes and just waiting for a good ole tomato!
Hey Tipper, canned pickled beets yesterday! Prayers for Miss Cindy.
Tell Mr. Matt that there are rough earth snakes (Virginia stratus) and smooth earth snakes( Virginia valeria). My son loved snakes when he was little so we have a collection of books about snakes. We have A Guide To The Snakes Of North Carolina book. We read so much about snakes that people call me to come identify snakes for them. I don’t mind snakes as long as they are non venomous. Mice on the other hand, that is what makes my skin crawl. I told my husband if we get any mice in the house that I’m moving out until he gets rid of them. Knock on wood, we have been in our house for 22 years and never had mice. I am looking forward to your garden tour! Also wanted to let you know I got my cookbook today and I’m so excited to try some recipes. When I finish up my evening chores I m going to sit down and read through it this evening.
I hope you enjoy it!! Thank you 😀
Yes it is a good tomato year. Prices for tomatoes up here in Canada dropped drastically in the last week due to the bounty…they went from being super pricey to super cheap and they are sweeter and firmer. We had a fairly dry cool spring with a strangely hot week in April that made them grow quick.Great sandwich tomatoes this year!
Thank you for sharing that! So interesting 😀
I just love listenin to the two of you visit, Tipper! Here on the Oregon coast it's 60° with a strong breeze today, it's down right chilly! They say it might get hot this July, but at this point, I can't even imagine it. Its nice, but the herbs and flowers aren't real partial to it lol. Hope you had a great hambinger🥰
So glad you enjoyed visiting with us!! That is chilly!! It was 85 today and then a thunderstorm came through and cooled it down to 65 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia oh, that sounds lovely! I sure do miss those thunderstorms! We don't get many of those up here, and when we do, it's only ever a couple booms, and some hail. 10-15 mins and it's gone lol.
Miss Tipper, Matt, Happy Wife Happy Life. Have a good week.
Hope you have a good one too 😀
Tipper you need to encourage Matt when he jokes, because he is funny when he is on a roll like he is today. haha
😀
Gardens are looking great. Nothing like the satisfaction of a good hard days work. We use mulch around here to, works great to keep weeds down as well as helping hold moisture. Enjoyed the popsicle talk time. We are still praying for Miss Cindy.
Thank you! I know y’all’s garden is looking great too 😀
Bears will surprise you. Be safe! Not always a good surprise either. 🙏❤️
