I loved the story of Doris Jean taking care of Granny. It occurred to me when Matt asked you if she was still alive and you said that she had been dead for years, that Doris Jean is still very much alive in the memories of those who knew her. Your telling the story to us will keep her alive now in our memories, and her goodness will live on. That’s why sharing the stories of our lives is so precious.
I enjoy these popsicle chats, so much. Casual conversation and simple things are all you need to lift your spirits! Thank you Tipper and Matt!
So glad you enjoy them Gary!
Thank you Tipper for the inspiration! I’ve cooked a peach cobbler and cornbread several times lately and I’m planting a garden for the first time in years all because I’m inspired by you. I can’t wait for your cookbook to come out. Thank you for the wholesome entertainment (that’s so rare now a days). I’ve really enjoyed listening to you read two books so far. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family. Most of all I want to thank you for renewing my faith in humanity and for you leading by example to be a good God fearing person living a simple but extremely meaningful life!
You are so kind-thank you!
A funny story came to mind when Matt was talking about the eye doctor and his eyesight changing when he leaves: Our Internal Medicine doctor, who is long since retired, was a GEM of a man. We even nicknamed him "Marcus Welby", after the old TV Show, because he made house calls and was very fatherly. Anyway, my Mom was joking with him one time and said, "Dr. Egan, have you ever heard of people that have gone to the doctor and given a clean bill of health, then left and dropped dead"? Our doctor replied with , "Well, if that happens to you, don't come back and tell me about it".... HAHAHA...🙂
😀 Love that story LOL!
Prayers for Matt’s eye sight 🙏✝️🙏
Matt and Tipper are such a wonderful couple!!!!!🙂😄😋
I like the sound of the wind and the leaves rustling. You and Matt I mean Spud make a great team together. A loving, working, cutting up and blessed relationship. A joy to watch.
Thank you 😀
I love “the popsicle sessions” so much!😊 You guys are so genuine. It’s just lovely and refreshing to watch your channel. Best.
You are so kind-thank you 😀
You could name your RUclips videos “The Popsicle Chats.” ❤️
We call our chickens the "Little Raptors" because they're so much like what we think a little dinosaur would be like.
Love watching y'all. Matt is a hoot! And when you laugh with him it's so endearing.
What a lucky chance I have had stumbling across your channel. Its heartwarming and soul filling to see heartland America in such good hands..Down here in Western Australia we nearly only see stuff about crazy politicians and mass shootings in the media about America so its re-assuring that we are all not that unlike..we want to live in peace raise our families and leave this place better than we found it..Thank You Tipper n Matt....
This is one citizen that stopped watching the news & regular TV. We finally got the cable cut cause my daughter was tired of paying the bill. For better part of 4 years, I have I only used the internet & watch what I enjoy & find uplifting. If a hurricane is brewing, someone is sure to let me know.
All the sensational events are located in selected areas, it seems. 95% of the country is normal, down to earth folks.
Glad you enjoyed the video 😀
@@kateburk2168 I watch NO news! I'm assuming I won't need it to find out the really important stuff. Like nuclear annihilation!
My mom said the same thing about the wind. She says it's been the windiest year or two ever in her lifetime. Love your videos ❤
It's Blackberry Winter! Cool weather now means good berries later.
Tipper, Matt's a hoot! My husband said, "I like him, he's a real person." I'm glad ya'll are having fun!😀
So glad yall enjoyed this one 😀
My daddy and momma talked like this…..worked crossword puzzle, ate ice cream. My husband never speaks.
I'm sorry. Thank you for visiting with us 😀
Matt you have my sympathy when it comes to the bees. My poor husband could be the only person within 100 miles and if there was only 1 bee it would track him down.
I love Matt's sense of humor 😊
😀
Matt is a funny guy! I love it. Have a great night you two!🥰✌🏼🇺🇸
Thank you 😀
Love the wind chimes and the playful fussing with Matt. Enjoy the cake❤
I love watching your little blooper parts at the ends of the most recent videos with you and Matt. It shows how much y'all still love each other and have fun being together. So nice to see ❤😊
Watching this latest one, and it occurred to me…you could call these segments “Popsicle Ponderings” ! Love y’all!
You and Matt are a cool fun couple. Bless you Both.
Love watching you and your girls. I lived the life style like yours planting a big garden every year. I really miss those days every has passed now no one left not even my wife. All the people up in the mountains are gone it makes me sad . We would all get out on the porch and snap 5 or 6 bushels of beans. And the elders would tell
All kinds of stories Those were good times .
So glad you enjoy our videos 😀
Always an awesome day watching you both daily, funny, lovely life❣️
Do not stop sharing😔🥺
When I was pregnant with my first child, I did just like you Tipper, and made myself sick eating 🍇 grapes. I couldn’t stop! 😅 I had forgotten about that until you just mentioned your own situation. 😂
"197 degrees for the next four months...." LOL. That gave me the best laugh in days!! Matt feels about North Carolina summers the same way that I do about Texas summers....hatred! LOL
I love the sound of the wind through the leaves. Beautiful!
Y’all are hilarious and I love these chats. I sat down with a cup of coffee and enjoyed it! So sweet of Katie to cook for y’all today. I’m sure it was delicious. Your flowers are looking beautiful. Take care and God bless y’all. 😀❤️
Thank you for visiting with us 😀
Enjoyed having my morning coffee and watching this. It’s like having my coffee with good neighbors. It’s chilly this morning in south Louisiana. Sure it won’t last.
Glad you enjoyed visiting with us 😀
Your flowers are so pretty Tipper! Thanks for sharing your popsicle chat Tipper and Matt.
Thank you Robin 😀
Your family are pillars of the community 🏆🏆
You are too kind-thank you 😀
❤thank you for the video. I got stung by a big ol yellow & black bee years ago when I was in the barn & it felt like I got hit by a two by four on my back. I tore my shirt off & hollered & ran for the house. Never felt anything like that. It was bad. I wish I still lived there though because I was able to have a big garden & flowers around the house, chickens, horses & raised rabbits for meat & for selling babies at Easter time. Good life, all gone now. But that's why I love watching you all.
Bless you Sandy! We appreciate you!
Funny 😆-Matt just casually, straight face, out of the blue,"then it'll be 197degrees for four months!" Also Matt's story about his family planting on the wrong sign of the moon!!
There used to be a Belks in Siloam springs Arkansas my home.
When Matt said “you just about have to shoot them” I was thinking the same thing when he said it. We seen one on the job the other day and I told a guy “ if I had a saddle I’d ride it”. They are big bees. Keep up the good work.
😀 I'll have to share that with Matt-he'll love it. They are so big! Now I'm going to think of them wearing a saddle 😀
Enjoyed this mornings RUclips visit. ❤
So glad!
I like what Matt said his grandpa said, I'm not planting on the moon I'm planting down yonder in the field. Haha
No more K-Marts. I really miss them too. Loved hearing the wind and your wind chimes.
I like the "Mom Story" about "grape or red" !! 😂 That is something I would do and have done!! Love listening to your garden talk and chats......just like visiting friends. Take care!
Thank you Stacey 😀
Tipper your glass isn’t half full, your cup runneth over 😂❤😂❤😂❤😂
😀 It sure does! Thank you Thomas 😀
Outshine should give y'all a commission😊 Those popsicles looked so delicious that I bought the grape and coconut. Grape is my favorite.
It’s nice to hear you two laughing and cutting up. 😊
😀
Hi. Things are popping in the garden. I swear I saw double snowballs growing along the creek bank. Am I seeing things?😂 Lantana loves the heat. An author I want to share. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and also Gene-Stratton Porter. Books I’ve loved from childhood. Marjorie wrote about what she called Florida Crackers. 😂 Love, love Matt sharing about not planting on the moon, but the earth. Scuppernong grapes grew wild in Virginia. They were tasty as were the Paw Paws along the river bank. We share such a rich history between us even though 40 years apart. I love you two and watching the love you have for each other, and this allows me to escape from the horror of what’s going on in our beloved country.❤
Oh, my gracious, I ran across your channel about 3 weeks ago, and have watched a couple videos each evening. You have an absolutely beautiful family, and your garden is a slice of heaven. Here in Colorado, we are not even close to planting time. They are calling for 6+ inches of snow later this week. I do have my seedlings started, but they never get anywhere close to the beautiful plants you all have. Thank you so much for posting these videos and showing us all about Appalachia and your traditions.
The ending thumbnail part was GREAT! 😂
We miss the good ole days, too! 😢 But still, a lot of good people here & there. Lol
No one is perfect, you are okay in my eyes, life happens and all that you can do is make the
Best of your life. Do not listen to the haters just love your son and do your best that is all that anyone can do and ask of others. I believe that Beauty comes from the inside and I feel that you are a Beautiful person.
You both make me smile. Just love your channel ! you give so much inspiration .hi from lutz Florida USA
Ain't it interesting how a dog can become such a big part of our lives. Y'all bring Olive up in almost every video. Just like a grandbaby.
😀 It surely is! Thank you for watching!
So enjoy your conversations!!
I agree about the wind!! We moved to NC from WV three years ago and this is the windiest place I have ever been. My brother has lived here almost 40 years and even he says it is the windiest he has ever seen!!
And my husband's favorite snack is sliced raw potato with salt. He will eat a whole potato at a time.
I have to admit the sound of all this wind acted like white noise to me and really relaxed me. :-) Tell Matt we would love to meet him in person also at one of your meets and greets.
😀 Glad you enjoyed it!
P. S. Tipper, That was the cutest smile you gave when y’all were holding up your popsicle sticks! And when Matt looks at the camera it’s like he’s looking right through me! 😅
Love the wind in your trees and wind chimes. 😊
Take Matt to Dollar Tree for glasses, that’s where I get mine.
What brand of popsicles do you eat? You should get a sponsorship for them. They always look so good. My husband and I found your channel and we love it. We have been binge watching. Another idea is to save your popsicle sticks to label your plants.
So glad you enjoy our videos! Thank you for watching! The brand is Outshine 😀
Love watching You and Matt, good conversation and Matt's funny comments!! Watching your videos are so relaxing and enjoyable!! Thank You for sharing!!
We would love to meet papaw toney!…we don’t have a k-mart, have not had one for years…I thank Sears bought out K-Mart or K-Mart bought out Sears…loved both stores.
I appreciate that you have a formula closing for your videos, because it reminds me that I want to hit the "like" button. Otherwise, I get so caught up in the conversation, I might forget. But when I hear the words "celebrate Appalachia," that's my cue to hit 👍.
I appreciate you liking them-that really helps 😀 Thank you for watching!!
Loved seeing this video again. Really enjoyed it .
The Scuppernog Grape makes absolutely the best homemade grape jelly! If you grow them try making jelly. ❤️
I just have to laugh at the high speed video. Oh! If only we could work that fast in real life, we'd get so much more done. Lol
😀
My mom and dad would’ve said “what do you want” after I did something like that all day. Lol you’ll have to let us know if there was an ulterior motive to all that cooking.😂
Raw potatoes we with salt..😍 adore you two..☮️
Looks like Matt ought to put a couple steps up that hill for y'all. You both caught some speed coming down that slope.🤣
Y'all are terrace farming like Columbians down in the Andes Mountains. I love your garden! And Matt is very funny and Tipper., your faces when Matt's being a wise-cracker...lots of laughs. Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah.....It's Katie!
Thank you Lisa 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia I’ve been talking with my mom about what tomatoes we are going to plant. We are thinking about planting some mortgage lifters, beefsteak, and some Cherokee purple. My mom said there’s a small tomato that’s sweet like candy but she couldn’t remember the name. Do you have any ideas what that might be?
@@TheLisaGreenlee There's a tiny red one that's called Matt's Cherry it is super sweet and there are red sungolds that are small and sweet 😀 I'm sure there's others. Hopefully someone will chime in with more suggestions!
@@CelebratingAppalachia thanks so much! I can't wait for summer tomatoes. Nothing beats a tomato sandwich on white bread with salt, pepper & mayo!
Y'all ever make tomato pudding? Here's my recipe.
Warm Tomato Pudding
3 medium vine-ripe tomatoes
A loaf of day-old bread, torn or cut into large cubes
1 1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1 egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire
1 teaspoon Tabasco (optional)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1-2 tablespoons butter
Carefully place the tomatoes in a pan of boiling water for 25-30 seconds.
Remove and submerge them in a bowl of ice water, then peel off the skin and give the tomatoes a rough chop.
In a large bowl, add the tomato sauce, heavy cream, egg, Worcestershire, Tabasco, lemon juice, salt, pepper, sugar, and ginger.
Add the torn day-old bread followed by the chopped tomatoes. Mix well
and transfer them into a buttered baking dish, then bake at 375 degrees
for 35-40 minutes until set and golden brown on top. It's delish! Sometimes I've added some shredded provolone cheese too.
@@TheLisaGreenlee I've never made it-sounds wonderful! 😀 Did you share your scalloped oyster recipe with me?
Tipper you are the cream of the crop…that is what my father would say.
You are so kind!
Scuppernongs are delicious, I grew up eating them. In Georgia our slang pronunciation was Scup-nuns.
Neapolitan coconut slice … yum
I liked K-mart too. Auto and outdoors section was great. Plus seasonal things was so amazing.
I gotta say that the best content is the small talk and banter you and Matt engage in after your official "sign-off".
LOL You Two " Poppy Sickles are US " TY for another Great Video !!
I see that Mas doing all the work
We had 2 days last week was in the upper 80s and beautiful here in VA.
Now we’re back to 40s at night. We got some rain but not nearly what they forecasted. So dry and windy here we had fire warnings all week.
Y’all’s garden is looking great!
My family will not eat squash unless it’s fried in bacon grease with onions. Just the way my nanny cooked it.
As much as he loves it, he can’t have too much because of blood pressure and cholesterol.
I tell him he cheats enough all week long!!
Enjoyed visiting with you both, yes it’s about plantin time here to. Love y’all’s humor, I can’t see good anymore either Matt. Great video! Good luck with Katie’s cake. Lol
Thanks for sharing. 😇🙏🏻❤️🙌🏻
😀 Thank you!
Am happy to see all your flowers. Might not be able to eat most of them but they are food for the soul! On the third day of Creation, He separated the water and made land. Trees, grass and other plants... our original diet. He is such an artist! He made every possible color of flowers. Didn't need to. Can't eat color, but it brings joy to the heart. Same for sunsets and a multitude of other things. He is truly a God of Love!
Thank you Kate!! I love the beauty 😀
My mother in law is 97 and loves that coconut stick too. It has always been her favorite ❤
Pap loved them too 😀
I think you’re right about the wind. I don’t remember having a windier spring.
All the pots outside the greenhouse look so pretty. You found some lovely flowers. The garden beds are looking great also. My peach tree survived & just the other day I noticed it has small peaches growing! Speaking of peach, my favorite outshine is the peach, it almost tastes like a real fresh one😊. Listening to the two of you bantering is like being w/family and I love the chuckle you invoke. Blessings 🕊
Thank you Cheryl! Yay for little peaches 😀
🤣 'NO IT AIN'T NICE, I CANT SEE!!" 🤣 same here! I remember a coworker at the snack machine telling me exactly what Matt just said. I had agreed to the same thing, different eye doctors 😵💫😵
😀
'K' mart, brings back memories.
They had blue light specials.
Love sitting and listening to you and Matt. Ok the end hilarious. Y'all are to cute.
There's not less good minded people, their just not singing their own praises
Coconut plank my daddy loved them.
You guys are adorable! My highlight everyday. Thank you for consistent popsicle chat sessions!
You are so kind-thank you 😀
I remember the Blue light specials at Kmart.
My mother would not plant until the earth was warm ! She was a Henson cove native !
They are called "Coconut Planks". I loved them.
Thanks for the video fun listening to your work plans. Love to see Matt in the videos. He’s pretty funny.
No pain no gain
Matt is so Talkative 😂 Not True ❤❤I feel y’all are like Family ❤❤
Love, Love your and Matt’s popsicle time!!! I have to agree with Matt about hot weather… don’t like it!!! Much prefer cooler colder weather. Y’all are such good hard workers! Hope you get a good bounty from all your hard work!! God bless and love to all!! 💕🤗🙏🏻
Thank you so much 😀
"Neopolitans" Tipper. The coconut candy.
Matt has a dry since of Humor 😂
I love when you break out the popsicles!
😀 I'm so glad
Matt is a Hoot, the way he teases you. 😅
This is just a little thing I do to see the colors that will be coming up in my pots is …I but a fake outside flower in the middle of the pot to see the color the flower will be when it blooms. Some times it is a fake flower that will be the kind of flower I have planted…I love flowers that will bloom all Summer…calamities is a beautiful vine that we love. There is some that stays bloomed all summer…there is lots of beautiful ones…they come back every year. They need sun.
Love that 😊
Hmm..Katie is cooking. If you find Corie polishing jewelry in the basement you will know we are in the twilight zone lol. I had to buy us some outshine popsicles. So good. And yes Kmart sadly went the way of Montgomery Ward (Monkey Wards), Sears, and so many others. The day of online stores have taken over. The times they are achangin'. God bless yall. Have a great week!
Hope you have a good week too!!
Tipper, just wanted to let you know that I went to Outshines web site and recommended they sponsor you for the positive influence you have on folks who are trying their product. I have no idea that they will even read my request, but maybe if more people spoke up, they might respond.
Love this channel!
Wow, thank you!
I love to watch you two together, Matt makes me LOL everytime…he and my Dannie would get along so well.. humor is so amazing in a relationship.
I remember that treat I can't think of the name of it either
Garden beds fixed for Planting & Flowers growing & All looks SO Nice!! So ENJOYED ANOTHER POPSICLE TIME WITH You & Matt. We were under a Freeze & Frost Warning the End of last wk.
