Hi, Im learning english and I dont understand what you meant with "aloft", may someone explain it to me please ? I did search on internet, but I dont get it either 😅 Thanks
You can tell it's him when he was young since his hair, Coat, and Sword aren't as long. They all get longer as he ages. It's lucky he died when he did. If he lived longer he would become a male repunzel with a coat he would constantly trip over and a sky scraper sword. Perhaps it was a mercy he died young.
Sephiroth is terrifying in that the only reason he even loses in any capacity, pre and post Jenova fusion is when he was mentally vulnerable, and that he chronically never considers anyone a real threat, never giving it his all.
Technically, he kind of wins the moment he's tossed into the Lifestream in the Nibelheim Reactor, since from that point onward he's fused with the planet and is, in a sense, immortal. Keeps coming back like an annoying rash just to monologue at Cloud and wreck Midgar again every few years. 😆
I really hope that we get more scenes of young sephiroth, hopefully him trying to have some camaraderie with people. This scene adds so much depth to the story on so many levels. Further emphasizing the simmilarities between Shinra and some real life governments waging wars on foreign countries and sending soldiers to their assured death, Sephiroth is displayed here as the weapon of mass destruction he was always supposed to be. An unstoppable force, trully a monster, the perfect soldier. He really was a chemical weapon built on a lab. This scene portrays him as heroic to the poor soldiers who were in this position, but the undertones of how incredibly dangerous he could become if he realized what he could do are clearly there. But this also paints a much more tragic vision of Sephiroth. He was used as a weapon as such a young age, he seems proud on killing things so effortlessly, showing how Shinra taught him to find value on killing. When he turns around and looks at his comrades and we get our first glance at his face we see those snake-like eyes and that sharp smile. He is not human, not trully. He's never been. But they lied to him in order to use him. The white feathers at the start also remind me of Griffith, from Berserk, a character that shares many simmilarities with Sephiroth in terms of concept and aesthetics. But it's also hinting us towards his path. From an angel descended from heaven to save those in need, to a heartless angel bound to destroy creation.
Are you like scared and stuff? I mean FF7 is real somewhere in the parallel universes. Sephiroth is totally like tearing stuff up somewhere. We have to talk about this stuff and the stuff. Come on.
I mean Cloud was said to be "part Sephiroth Clone" in the original FFVII and the Compilation. Hence the Remnants calling both Cloud and Sephiroth "Big brother".

@@wilykat There are a ton of similarities between Vader and Sephiroth! If Final Fantasy VII hadn't released two years before the prequel trilogy, I'd believe that Sephiroth's backstory was directly inspired by Vader's. It's not like there aren't Star Wars references in VII already. They're both fallen angel-type characters, great warriors who betrayed the organisations they worked for (the Jedi, Shinra), slaughtered a bunch of innocents (Nibelheim, the younglings), and then were defeated by people less skilled than them due to their arrogance (Obi-wan, Cloud.) Anakin fell into a lava pit, Sephiroth into the Lifestream. Both "died" in a sense and were "reborn" afterwards, weaker and stronger than before. Vader was physically scarred from his duel on Mustafar and lost some of his Force potential, but his iron suit made him more deadly and terrifying. Sephiroth perished in the reactor but was able to influence events in the world as a lingering spirit in the Lifestream. Both serve masters more powerful than they are (Palpatine, Jenova) and have a strange obsession with their mothers. (Anakin's love for his mother was a major factor in his downfall.) Both were created through unnatural means (it's implied that Anakin was created by Sidious through the Force, whereas Sephiroth was created via the Jenova Project), and neither had a relationship with their father growing up. Sephiroth didn't know that Hojo was his father, and Anakin probably never figured out that Sidious or Plagueis was his father. They're both tall, imposing and like to dress in black leather. The differences are that Sephiroth never has a romantic relationship (or, indeed, a relationship of any kind, apart from his friendship with Zack), and doesn't try to overthrow Jenova or redeem himself at the end. Although who knows, the Remake project could well be heading in that direction. [EDIT: Oh, and they both have legendary theme tunes.]
Shinra made a monster out of this poor boy. He may be the "greatest villain in all of gaming" but I don't blame him at all for doing what he did when he learned the truth of his creation :/
I personally would’ve used that knowledge as a way to get bitches, myself. Awesome supersoldier with magic powers and an incredibly difficult weapon to use that can be wielded as easily as a butter knife? Can you imagine the Fanny I’d be tapping, with that as a pickup line?
hmm. greatest villain in gaming? idk man. greatest villain in final fantasy? sure. maybe tie between kefka, but sure. greatest villain in RPG? hmm okay, he's at the top but gaming? we can just flat out say bowser if we're going on that direction.
Nothing beats the serious elegance of the golden inlay around the emerald green of a Materia crystal blade. Its certain death if the user knows what he's doing. A weapon like that is no joke.
I can see why people look up to sephiroth and regards him as hero prior to FFVII Sephiroth. He looks cool af here. His short haired version makes him look a lot like any protagonist in an anime/game.
Do all the victims get to one's head... eventhough you are not at first evil, like witnessing the spoil of War (example: Bin Laden, again I'm not saying I like him, but if he grew in a great environment he could have been a good person).
@WorldOfLimbo Because the writers confirmed he always holds back after the nibelheim incident. As you can see here when he was a kid, he went for the kill as fast as possible since he wasn't particularly a bad person nor evil. After he loses his mind, he starts toying with everyone, making them suffer as much as possible for as long as possible. He enjoys seeing people crumble and kneel before him because he becomes an awful evil person after discovering he is not entirely human, and that overconfidence is his downfall multiple times. He is so nonchalant that it always gets him killed in the end, but if he went for the kill as fast as he did when he was a kid he could speedblitz the whole ff7 party without even trying.

That katana was still spec'd to high hell. 3 materia in the hilt, and crazy good craftmenship through out the blade and handle. Shinra's military budget is well placed.
This further makes me believe that Sephiroth has always been holding back against Cloud for some greater cause. Hopefully we will see that when this time paradox trilogy ends.

It’d be cool to sort of get a sense of the awkward not very socially capable kid he must have been. Seeing him smirk like he knows he’s better i feel doesn’t work. It would have been more interesting to see Sephiroth’s first mission and he himself being sort of surprised at the gap between him and the rest of Soldier. That gap taking him off guard, alienating him further than his isolation under Hojo already had until he gets acquainted with Angeal and Genesis. Maybe a reference to a possible scenario in how he missed Gast, or perhaps he was once a part in how Iflana and Aerith made their escape from the labs and how as punishment he was forced to watch Ifalna’s dissection. Bits and pieces that show he was always sort of treated as a thing or a threat for so long that it shaped his perspective and personality from the get go.
@ooweeeooweee8871 in the original game when sephiroth talks to himself as he studies in the manor and asks himself why Gast never told him of his origins and asks why he had to die. This implies that he regets or mourns the professors passing to at least some degree. Furthermore in Crisis core Sephiroth is shown to be capable of meaningful relations, and we see him actively look out for his friend’s interests above the immediate needs of Shinra and the assigned mission. Yes he always had the capacity for ruthless destruction, but he was also capable of compassion and camaraderie, to the point of volunteering to donate blood to help a friend who got hurt in a sparing match. A backstory like I mentioned would show that despite his power and skill his confidence and psyche was always a bit fragile, teetering on the edge of snapping and becoming the villain of the main game.
Being surprised by his gap wouldn't have made sense though. Considering they made him in a lab to be a weapon, he would've known that he's been constantly being trained to be the best, resulting in him knowing he'd be stronger than any other average person.
@@xenofastiq knowing you’re being trained to be objectively more powerful and overall more capable than the average person doesn’t mean anything to someone without context. He likely grew up in labs isolated without peers. He was given experiments, trials, and training, but it likely wasn’t alongside the typical rank and file, especially when you consider how possessive Hojo is of his research. In short I feel simply seeing the moment where he gets an inkling of the difference between himself and the average person after a childhood of isolation was what I thought would have been interesting.
You know what you're talking about AND what would make the character's backstory more compelling. It would be much more interesting to see an isolated kid learning to deal with things like camaraderie, where he fits in amongst his peers and the alienation of knowing he's different, how being a super weapon is perceived by both his enemies and his allies, struggling to understand concepts like humanity, trust, loyalty, etc. Being an edgy badass from the get-go is not that interesting. Sephiroth always came across as a reserved intellectual, wise and powerful, with masterful control over his own strength. That's what made him frightening- not because he could chop up a zillion tanks in the blink of an eye or because he could explode all the things, but because he knew he could but made the calculated decision to hold it back. And as you mentioned with Crisis Core, Sephiroth wasn't always an evil villain. He snapped once he had that epiphany. Knowing that he was always a destructive psychopath isn't as interesting as seeing the series of events that slowly pushed him over that edge and seeing his fall toward the realization that beneath that fragile sense of control was the capacity to truly become a monster.
My only thing is, why not give a whole backstory game for him? Like give EVERYTHING. Playing as him at 5 years old that’s confused at how strong he is. 7 years old he’s accidentally playing with fire or whatever. Yeah monster out of the gate but really I mean show it? Who wouldn’t play that game?

He isn't like that at all. Hes sociopathically isolated and emotion lacking. It makes him seem like he just doesn't see a benefit inbeing attached to anything. He only displays emotion when seeing or talking about Jenova
@@OMGCMFno in Crisis Core when he is younger you can tell he has an ego but he isn’t evil. His isolationism is directly related to early trauma he accidentally hurt someone close to him or just other members of Solider. Then he started keeping his distance and realized people were afraid of him eventually resenting some of them for probably being too weak.
@connordutton674 Yeah I was going to say that too and add in that Angeal and Genesis (later Zack) were the only ones near enough to his level to work with him and not be grunt escorts. Basically the people closest to him while isolated died and zack (who was more like the little brother of his friend relationally than his actual friend) couldn't really help him keep it together.
This was amazing to read💪

Sephiroth truly is the Darth Vader of the FFVII universe.
Final fantasy is based parcial from Star wars
More like he is the Dark Avatar Anakin from FF7 universe tbf but yeah, pretty much
Then Obi wan as Zack and Luke as Cloud
No, he's so much more than that. Him and Vader have no similarities other than being the flagship villains of a beloved franchise.
They're both fallen angel-type characters, great warriors who betrayed the organisations they worked for (the Jedi, Shinra), slaughtered a bunch of innocents (Nibelheim, the younglings), and then were defeated by people less skilled than them due to their arrogance (Obi-wan, Cloud.)
Anakin fell into a lava pit, Sephiroth into the Lifestream.

Sephiroth has always been weirdly humble and caring.. right before he knew of his origins and grew mad at the world for abusing his mother
Knowing that he was always a destructive psychopath isn't as interesting as seeing the series of events that slowly pushed him over that edge and seeing his fall toward the realization that beneath that fragile sense of control was the capacity to truly become a monster.
need a standalone game about sepiroth
Even as lil baby Sephiroth, he was busted powerful
young sephiroth was still in a budget for hair care products and couldn't afford letting his hair get long
