    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    I would love to see more deep dive episodes! And yes, please, do the fatty alcohol one. Each time I watch one of these deep dive episodes, something in me relaxes and breathes a sigh of relief, at understanding another piece of all these things, a little better. I would love to know more about soap nuts too, about how you use them in soaps, bath/body, making the soap nut extract#, etc. Most videos I've seen about soap nuts are primarily about their use in laundry, so I'm extremely curious about how you use them in soaps and bath bombs, and such. I'm going to be ordering some next week, to experiment with.

    Is there a good guide to how much poly 80 you should have in your recipe? Like for every 1 ounce of oils you should have 5 grams on poly type thing? Thanks in advance

    Great video. My question is what can you do to make antibacterial soap. As triclosan or other chemicals are spendy. As compared to soft soap base ingredients which are commercially made. What can the home soap maker or soap hobbyist do in comparison to where ingredients are concerned?

    Where is the best outlet to get your products to make soaps or otherwise. Such as lotion, shampoo, conditioner, hand sanitizer products. Is there a soap calculator for calculating the percentage and weight ratio?

    That’s not my Christmas Tree lookin’ around like, “Why am I still here??”
    And I’ll take any deep dives. I learn a lot from the science side. The frustrating part about cetyl alcohol and ceteryl alcohol is that they are derivatives of coconut and they are part of so many emulsifiers and other ingredients. So far, I haven’t found a 1 to 1 sub, but have found options that require a little more work. But maybe that’s okay.

    In a pinch, can you put 20 in a bath bomb? And 80 in a room spray?

    • @1karenelizabeth
      @1karenelizabeth Год назад

      I imagine you can. The 20 in a bath bomb is going to be cloudy though. For the 80 in a room spray, make sure to mix the FO with the 80 first, otherwise it will clump.

    Poly 80 and 20 are kind of banned in germany, you cant get it anywhere i have to order in netherland. Germans have a irrational fear against everything PEG 🙄. Thats a bit annoying because shopping is hard when it comes to non eccocert ingredients or something that isn't considered natural
