    It's HERE! We are kicking off a new Back to Basics Playlist, Bath Bomb style! This is an 8 part series that will literally take you back to basics. We are going to talk about the chemistry of bath bombs, the necessary ingredients to make a bath bomb work, and how to troubleshoot your fizzy creations. First up - understanding the importance of water in your bath bomb recipes. It is probably the most important ingredient.
    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    I was just saying to my partner last night whilst out in the workshop and looking at a soft and fragile bomb we had made: “I don’t think bath bomb making is for us”.
    So I’m excited to see this playlist and back to basics videos!
    Congrats on the 1 million bath bombs! 🎉

    I started making bathbombs after binge watching as many of your earlier videos as I could. My bathbombs have always been rock hard, because I have done exactly what you do ... so for that, I must thank you! I get lots of compliments on them as well, but always admit that I had a great teacher. 🥰

    This recipe is amazing. I've just finished making some bath bombs using this recipe and it's worked amazingly. I've struggled making bath bombs, even stopped for months because it became to much. I'm so glad I gave this recipe a go 😍 bravo x

    I stick with simple. I love simple. I sold 5 bath bombs to the same lady yesterday. 😂 We had rain on Friday and I gave her one of the bbs that had a tiny spot that got wet. She bought a bunch yesterday because she loved her freebie. 😊

    I used to love making bath bombs when I lived in California, but now that I am in very humid Texas, I have really struggled with getting them to dry out. I am excited for this back to basic series so I can see if I can figure out how to make them work here in TX. I love watching your videos because you explain things in a way that make sense to me, and allows me to feel confident in making adjustments to improve my bath and body products. Thank you Mrs. Soap & Clay! You are the best!

    Perfect timing for this playlist for me. I need to make 100 bath bombs, for 2 baby showers, over the next few weeks. The humidity has been high for the last couple of weeks and is expected to be high for the next couple of weeks. We have excellent air conditioners and a dehumidifier going, but still up over 60% humidity in my craft room. I have been afraid to start them mainly because I don't want to waste the ingredients. All of your tips and tricks normally help me problem solve, so THANK YOU for the timing on this one!

    Thanks for making these videos! I use caprylyl glucoside as my surfactant and I noticed when I scaled it up how wet the mixture became as well as how much my bombs detonated inside their molds😂 so I took that mixture, dried it out, called it foot soak powder. Gotta pivot right? Anyway, I have since dialed the amount of CG I use, changed how I added the wet colorant, and added poly sugamulse D9. They’re perfect for me now!! Thanks again!!

      I just made these, my first ones ever. I have made shower steamers but had not tried the bombs yet. Mine came out nicely, then started to swell up and look like muffins. I sat them on top of rounded soap molds after I unmoulded.. maybe that is why. But itlookeda little wetter than yours. Maybe its my citric acid.. It's a larger granule than yours look. I will try 1/2 Tea spoon next try. I dont know how humid it is here, so will also try with the dehumidifier on.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Год назад +1

      If you feel the batch is too wet, you can add a bit more dry ingredients (in this case just baking soda) to dry it out.

    Is it poly 80? I tried adding that to one set of bath bombs I made and it cracked all over the place!

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Год назад +1

      Hey! It is poly 80. Polysorbate shouldn’t cause bombs to crack unless it’s not well mixed into the dry ingredients. I’d be interested to know the rest of your recipe and the type of cracking you’re experiencing (IE hard bomb or soft bomb) to troubleshoot.

    • @lintypenguin
      @lintypenguin Год назад

      @@MrsSoapAndClay It's practically identical to the one in the video, but one batch flattened out and cracked really bad and the other was perfect. The only difference was the poly, so I was wondering what I did wrong. Maybe I didn't mix enough. Thanks for the help!
