    Thanks for the tip ref the fuse, youve saved me many hours! Its an all original 182 and its been off the road since 2015..Previous owner must have removed the fuse to prevent theft years back👍
    Cambelt and dephaser now!😂

    I am not a mechanic and have just fitted a new battery on my Renault Kangoo van and it would not start, the red light stayed on. I read the stuff in the van, looked at loads of RUclips videos, tried it all and still nothing. Sat here watching your video today, just about to give up, and got to the "Blue fuse" bit. went out, cleaned it, van started first time. Thank you so much.

    Been having this issue come and go... used to be once in a while now it's quite frequent. Poking around the fusebox gets the light to turn off so I don't think it's specifically a fuse but rather the wiring in/around the fusebox too. Happy to find someone else confirming the same issue and proving I don't have to swap out the UCH/ECU/Key! ta!

      Defo the connections. I spent around half a day cleaning the entire fuse box and white plug. Works perfect now. I half arsed it first and really regret not doing it properly to start with.

      fuse contacts can be coroded just remove and insert the fuse a few times, for me it fixed the issue

    It’s always the wiring down at the fuse box on that shape of Clio, 1.2. 1.4, 1.5 doesn’t matter what engine, any non start I’ve seen that’s the first place to go. Served my apprenticeship at Renault and seen this almost every day there so bad.

    I would also make sure that the pins in that white connector under the fuse box are made spotless and greased to death! I had all sorts of weird codes, throttle body, variable valve solenoid etc, and cutting out. Many thanks to the guy on the clio forums who knows his stuff and made the suggestion to someone else who was having trouble, or I may have never found the problem. Touch wood it's been perfect for next to 2 years since.

    I had almost the same issue with the imobilaiser light keeping on... It was coused by the green fuse 30A in the upper left corner of the fuse box in the engine compartment and all of that because the lambda probe was dead sort (the heating filament do have 12v and it was shorted to ground) cousing the fuse to pop and the ECU was not working - aka the engine won't start ... It was quite a pain to troubleshoot but with my mate found it :)

    The car did not cost you a track day, you did by booking one before you had a car to use!
    You have to always make sure a car is working perfectly in all aspects mechanically before attempting to use it on a track. It’s pure folly just hoping everything will work.

    • @SLRebuilt
      @SLRebuilt  3 года назад +1

      This difficulty with this statement is you have to book a track day in advance (as they are sold out months in advance). It’s the risk you take, especially when you come across multiple problems. So the issues on my clio did cost me a track day and lack of time to fix them was the ultimate nail in the coffin.

    I had the same issue with my Clio. The main remote central locking KEY was the issue. I used the basic spare key and it never missed a beat.

    Always start at fuse box. I wasted a lot of time trying to fix power window in my Mégane. Then found prior owner had put in wrong fuse in fusebox. Easy then easy before hard is the rule in car maintenance 😉

    • @nilsfrahm1323
      @nilsfrahm1323 2 года назад +1

      I think car manufacturers should be sued, really. The fuse box should be air tight, insulated, in a place far from the wheels, to avoid dust and oxidation coming close to fuses and relays. They add two connections per wire each, and two other connections for relays. It's insane. As a comparison, a desktop pc built from parts, once it is older, will have much more connection issues, restarts, glitches, than a laptop where all connections are on same motherboard, where connectors are copper or gold plated, where plastic cover keeps dust away. It seems we just get along with it, but it should not be like this, we should point out bad design and force them to change.
      A car is supposed to be reliable, you may need to take an old or sick person to hospital, you can't afford two days troubleshoot for a red light to go away, even though rest of car works fine. The patient would be dead by then. Since its random, one day works, other day will not you just cant trust that car any more.
      And you know what? Same crap design of immobilizer was used for a decade or more on many car brands. It is so secure that even the owner cant use the car.
      Just like DRM in software, used to protect games.

    • @russhopkins724
      @russhopkins724 2 года назад

      @@endofd-d7c the starter was smoking? If so it’s likely that’s the problem! They do have a habit of cooking the alternators. The starters sometimes fail if they are missing the heat shield. But it shouldn’t be smoking just from jumping the car

    This is not French wizardly.
    The Renault Clio was a complete innovation on its debut year, especially taking into account the car segment it is in.
    These innovations, the budget it is in - which includes people who do not care for their car, and keep it outside in the elements - made for many issues.
    I agree that Renault did two bad things:
    a) The placement of the fuse boxes, in the engine compartment and on the tablier, makes for a water catching nightmare;
    b) The drain plugs on both sides of the car should have been bigger, in order for them to not get clogged so easily.
    Nevertheless, you can only do something (spend time, but specially spend money) when you have hard evidence of what is working and not.
    Thus, you need diagnostic hardware and software, in order to get relevant data.
    On Renault cars the correct one is the Renault CAN Clip.
    A generic one, like Delphi DS105 or Autel devices, can also help, but might be missing some features.

    Never ever mastered electrics, had a 182 cup that every 2-3 years would suddenly have a meltdown it would wind over three times on the starter then cut the power to the starter not even the main dealer could suss it the technician said it was likely to be the fuel cut off relay it started again when it felt like it then wouldnt miss a beat for ages…..many a time I’d be shouting fuckin french electrics 😂😂
