Great vid. Those 01-07 Duramax trucks are very capable trucks stock, but even better when you unlock some of the true ability. I like that you deleted and appropriately tuned both eng and trans. Exhaust, intake. Really just easy, low hanging fruit upgrades, but the results are very noticeable. I would like to get an LBZ or an LB7 like I used to have, and do a decent build also in the attempt to keep the same truck for life and have it do work and play nicely. With such great aftermarket support, bulletproofing and unlocking power that rivals new trucks is actually affordable and practical.
Hey your friendly truck bro, your truck keeps shifting down because it wants to be at a higher rpm. It doesn’t want to lug up the hill. Your egt will go up but you can sustain that until your egt gets up into dangerous temps sustained.
Kick it into 4th gear maintain 2700 rpm. You can maintain 60-65mph all day long. It will keep all the fluids moving and your truck will stay cool. Lugging it in 5th will cause higher temps. At least that’s my experience with my LBZ. Mine is all stock except exhaust.
My dad used to have an 07 Gmc 2500 Lbz and he used to pull an average of 16k a day in his dump trailer and it did great. Most he ever pulled was around 26 or 28 i forget. No tune or exhaust all stock leveled on 35s

@@Rec-Star ,what do you mean about the airbags? I was given a 06 LBZ with 340,000 miles and i hope to pull my 30' 5th wheel without issues. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
@@stevengleave9241 The 00-07 chevys have a notoriously saggy rear end. On my 12' enclosed trailer that ways nothing it sags a lot without bags. With a 30ft fifth wheel if your pin is all the way forward it shouldn't be bad but if you have a short bed like me and keep the pin back a bit it will have crazy sag.

Do you know the pin weight on your 5th wheel? Every time I go to look at 5th wheels, most all of them have pin weights higher than 2300 lbs, which would exceed the max carrying capacity on my 06 LBZ. Door sticker says max carrying capacity is a little over 2600 lbs.
Do you have stock radiator? I tow a 12-13k lb camper and when it gets into 6th gear it will warm up passed 210 just a little. Hoping the Mishimoto radiator I ordered will help with that. I got an exhaust temp monitor I need to install as well. My truck is similar to yours, I added a 63mm fleece turbo with new up and down pipes and had it studded with new gaskets. Truck has 440k miles and runs really well. Just like to be able to tow without worrying about temps
I have the stock radiator. mine hits 230 at the worst parts. But that is on the famous "highway through hell" its like an hour long climb with a massive incline at the end. but on most pulls I am hovering around 210. I had major overheating issues until I took the radiator off and cleaned it. that solved the problem and now the fan turns on early.
@@Rec-Star Ok, thanks for the reply. I thought about washing mine out but I decided to go with the Mishimoto. I'll let you know if it makes a big difference in cooling temperatures. It's supposed to be 4 core instead of the factory 2 core radiator. Hopefully it helps cool it down. Mine usually creeps up past 210 into 220 after it's been on the road and climbing some minor grade hills. So I don't think it's going to take much to keep it cooler. I have to run with my AC off and I'm trying to get it to where it will pull with AC on and not get warmer than it's supposed to be. Keep in mind these are 95-100 degree temps I'm towing in and that does seem to make a difference.
@@vandersnickmcduffle7333 It's running a lot cooler temp without a load. Your trans temp is high AF and your coolant TEMP is high I would really check your engine and transmission both might be fucked now I used to have LBZ that I used to abused like doing burnout and shit and never seen these high temp even while towing
You’ve got something wrong with that cooling system or that tune is wayyy too hot. That ECT is going to kill that engine. Tuning is all good but you have to have the supporting modifications. I have an 06 and tow heavier than that regularly and it NEVER crosses 205. Ever.
34" tire diameter can't be good for the trans and allowing the trans to hunt like that isn't helping either. I think with that setup, locking it in 3rd and dropping the speed would have proven beneficial for both engine temp and trans temp on that 7% grade.
Do you have your truck leveled when not towing? I just leveled mine and put 33 on it. I also have air bags for my fifth wheel. Thinking about putting 1 inch blocks in rear to help when towing to keep rear up a little bit
Yes truck is leveled at the front. rear is only airbags. I did adjust my 5th wheel hitch 1 hole forward to move the weight forward which helped a lot with sagging
