I haven't seen anyone yet that can replicate John Scofield,s unrelenting guitar work (let alone Billy, George, Alfonso's contribution) on "ivory tattoo" this video and album is better than 40 years ago and I'm still studying it till this day 2021
This just kills, kills, kils. Great from so many perspectives. I saw them live in DC on my birthday in '76, remember it just like yesterday. Great to see it again so many years later.
I was just about to make a comment about how much I love this group, these players, and this tune...then I realized that I already did, a year ago. LOL!
aye thankies very mucho for relighting some of the very best of jammage and awesome on stage commies, here here to the old greats , everlasting goodness
It looks like the Mark I, the one I used to have (I now have a Mark II). Back when it was still called "Fender Rhodes". It has been modded, though... I think what George had done was get a preamp built into it, hence the extra knob.
Billy Cobham, George Duke, Alphonso Johnson, John Scofield, the most powerful Musical foursome ever put together then and nothing can touch it now my favorite tune" ivory tattoo" written by (I then discovered) John Scofield...... intricate musicianship and tightness speaks with such ferocity ... thank you so much for sharing that video I had the LP but to see it played live is awesome!
funk fusion funk fusion great music i beleive that in this 1976 montreux festival also weather report played if you see the weather report concert the stage looks the same
POR FAVOR QUE PASA CON LOS MUSICOS DE HOY ¡¡¡¡ ESTOS SI SABBIAN BILLYORTAL Y SOLO CON FENDER DE 4 CUERDAS NI HABLAR DE GEORGE EL GITARRISTA UN CAPO SALUDOS PARA TODOS DE ARGENTINA UN VIEJO MUSICO
5:02 I love the look GD gives as if to say 'OK- where's BC gonna put the time on this next fill.' And then BC behaves! LOL! [This comment is based on knowing what actually went on in that band BTW...]!
disco funky jazz with mega chops and taste. how the hell did i miss this stuff bacK then? a: i was a f----ing square. sounds like the steely dildo bros. absorbed all this taste for the sound and clever breaks in their later (better) songs.
The lords of challenging music. Cowell should do himself a favour & discover some of this stuff, instead of the shite he inflicts upon the world...Tho he's got about as much talent as 1 of my wet farts so there's no hope 4 him!
this is the track that turned me on to Scofield's brilliance!
