I love Billy Cobham when it comes to drums that’s why I clicked on this thumbnail. There has to be some love to Jerry Goodman because he’s a fiddle playing maniac lol. The original lineup was my favorite.
@@TheJudgeofLevelstm I also saw the two together, in May 1975, when M.O. opened for Jeff Beck in CT, but this was not the original M.O. lineup, it was the group with Narada Michael Walden on drums. Jean-Luc Ponty had already left the band, even though he was featured on their latest album at the time, 1975's "Visions Of The Emerald Beyond". Still a great show, but I am partial to the original band with BC...
EPITOME OF JAZZ FUSION BUY THE MUSICIANS ,AND THE BAND THAT CREATED THIS MAGNIFICENT MUSIC!!ENOUGH CAN NOT BE SAID ABOUT THESE GREATS!! BILLY COBHAM ON DRUMS WAS THE CREATOR OF FUSION DRUMMING WHICH IS ICONIC! BROVO !
Same here, Bill. Saw the original version of the Ork 5 times between Sept 1972 and Dec 1973's final tour. All concerts I saw were in CT or MA. Nothing else like them, their power & musical telepathy was uncanny. BC is the greatest drummer I've ever seen live to this day. I've seen him in person an additional 3 times, post-Mahavishnu, closeup at club shows. He was literally astounding every time. 🥁 🔥
I wonder how many musicians could be able to perform this holy crap live: The Mahavishnu Orch was a revelation when I was a youngster, amazing Cobham even though my fav drummer is Joe Morello.
Billy for me was above all..I know, I know...so many, so many more complete and vistuosos, drummers, etc etc...But for me, Billy is my all time fav..from all
I have the oportunity to see Billy Cobham in a drum clinic in Guadalajara Jalisco 1993, i only have a few months playing drums, didn´t kwon who Billy was but that was one of the best experience that I live in music, is on the top of my best memories in music
I loved this stuff in ‘72 and ‘73. Not sure what I think about it now. Looking back on early live footage, it seemed to some extent, Billy and Jerry’s band, more than John’s.
Unlike other band leaders, Mclaughlin always WANTS his musicians to overplay as much as possible. Just ask Dennis. No instructions just go for it! There is a cool short clip of Billy and Mclaughlin on a red strat just jamming like kids in the garage with no band yet (Montreux). Would love a DVD of that show.
~Greatest drummer, greatest band ...
Imagine reading MEH on the back of the amp.

Saw them with king crimson Carlos Santana
Jaw dropper
It’s not a fiddle, it is a VIOLIN!
Saw them with the Jeff Beck Group.

Man I thought that this song was incredibly fast on the inner flame, but Billy is playing it even faster live. He speed and ability is superhuman.
I was thinking the same thing. 😂
I got that album when I was 14, and it changed my entire perception of music.
Damn….this never gets old. The Hammer solo….just fine…the Cobham/McLaughlin duet electric…..Billy is in heyday…..monster….❤

They are in another dimension… us mortals, musicians, buffs, can only wonder how they do it, how they think…
Was privileged to see them 5 times in the early 70's. Stunning live. Stunning today on RUclips.
I got 3 shows IN ! Cinnamon incense! ! ! ! plus one with santana and Cobham at Santa Monica Civic 2cd row!

More than 50 years ago and it still is unequaled. Matteo Mancuso comes close but his band doesn't have Billy Cobham and Jan Hammer. Truly monsters
Please don't compare makes no sense that's john mclaughlin

Joe was way beyond cool 🥁😎

Tony Williams....no, Billy Cobham...no, Tony...no, Billy...argghh!! I can't decide 😮🙃😁🐐🐐
Abso-f*cking-lutely!!!

Monster of jazz fusión !!!
Wow. Yeahhh. Maha Vishnu was a megavisionary
This was the version of the band I liked the most.
Jerry was fantastic on this, loved his intro stuff..
Billy the best❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
To see Billy playing on his clear Tama drumset - incredible.
Saw Jerry Goodman playing with the Dixie Dregs. He had short hair - yeoooouch.
These were Fibes drums.
It's not a "Tama" drumset, it's a Fibes set.
Killer jamming. I really need to work on my left hand chops
Never watch something like this, then go try to practice, you will hate everything you play. Wait a day, let it absorb, then go woodshed.
Nah man, I've been around long enough to know it's super slow going at first. Baby steps @@BigWesLawns It's already paying off.
Maybe you do but Cobham is left handed
wow thanks for posting this......11 mins on insane...
Re: Billy Cobham..."Look out, here come's the mad man"
comes*
Fantastic !!!!! Incredibile!!!!!!
Legends!
Cobham est une pieuvre
Blue violin. And this is pre-ELO. 😊
saw them at crystal palace, the cobham's band at hammersmith odeon
later watched shakti in central park from
outside arena
Reminds me of Elvin Jones and Coltraine duetting.
Mr. Billy Cobham. Fastest drummer ever.
KING COBHAM
You are not kidding me!!!
Billy playing the Fibes, made in Farmingdale, LI, NY
👍🏾👍🏾
Mr. Carter! 😃🎶🙏🏼
Jesus Christ this band is smoking!!!
I always wondered what Jerry Goodman had in that bag he has hanging from his belt.
Probably violin rosin.
Gunpowder

All the compositions are from John........ therefore it's John"s band
What to think of it?
You get it or you don't get it!
Are you for real?
Zombies don't get it...........

Not bad! 😳🙏💕🥳🥰😁
Daaaaamn.
Jerry Goodman, the best jazz&rock-violinist .. !! Somehow better than Jean-Luc Ponty :D
I will take the LP......sounds way better..,oh I have the LP
Completely ridiculous musicianship.
