  • MPs are set to consider “sanctioning” the former Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells after a further set of leaked recordings appeared to raise questions about her statements to Parliament on the Horizon scandal.
Covert recordings obtained by ITV and Channel 4 show Ms Vennells, who led the Post Office at the height of the scandal, was told in 2013 that there had been allegations the Horizon system could be accessed remotely, something she later told a committee of MPs was not possible.
It later emerged that subpostmasters’ Horizon accounts could be accessed remotely by staff working at Fujitsu’s headquarters in Bracknell.
Solicitor Albert Harwood joins Talk Today to discuss this further.

They see an issue and hide while living in denial. They spend their whole tenures picking the low hanging fruit to create achievements then move on to the next job given from their network of friends. Meanwhile the company left behind is in a worse state eventually because they didn’t care about the future or putting their neck on the line to make it better long term as none of them have any ability to lead like that and see a task through. It’s the short term hide mentality.

Here in the states , in some jurisdictions, a prosecutor can designate that certain crimes against persons have been committed with 'depraved indifference' towards the victim(s) and additional penalties can then be added at sentencing. It was used against the police officer charged in the death of George Floyd. I believe it would also apply here.

Give the trusted institution money and prosecuting powers, and this will happen.
    It is same with RSPCA.
They drag that woman to the court (who disciplined her horse), cos they have the money to waste.

So whats the total amount the Post office has stolen from these people?

Can someone explain to me why the post office get to decide how much compensation they owe to the victims? I don't know of any other situation where the criminal gets to decide how much money they need to pay in compensation. That's why we have law courts. They should get an independent panel to look over the compensation applications, and approve them. I mean really whatever the victim is asking for, I'm sure they're asking for only a very tiny portion of what they would get in a lawsuit in the USA. Then it's up to the Post Offfice and UK Government to figure out how much they can claw back from Post Office, CEO Bonuses, PO Crooked staff bonuses and FUJITSU. Unfortunately, the taxpayer will have to pay what's left over via the public debt.

Why has this creature not been arrested? Evidence of her crimes all over the web, tapes available ect ect and yet no response from the police or any authority, I don't understand it, is she so much a part of the establishment that she's untouchable, isn't there a charge called a malicious prosecution? What about lying to a public inquiry ? Or to parliament? What about conspiracy to commit fraud, obtaining money by false pretences ? I'm no expert but isn't she involved in all of that?
