Animal Crossing New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch is coming up, and I CALLED IT, so I'm shamelessly putting out a sequel to that video. But this time, we dig deeper. MUCH deeper.

The My Sims series are my biggest guilty pleasure games especially the first game. I just love them, they are cute as heck and relaxing.
Kissy Inu I’ve only played MySims Kingdom but remember not liking it very much since I had no clue what to do.
For real though! I always find myself going back to the first one if I've been feeling stressed. It's just really zen in the weirdest way.
@@amirgarcia547 Exactly! I played it as a kid and got so far but I just replayed it and somehow have no idea what's going on.
I still sometimes go back to My Sims Kingdom… it makes me happy lol
The games are just so relaxing and cute. I can’t help but loving them so much. My Sims and Kingdom were probably the best.
I cannot stress enough how good fantasy life is.If I remember correctly, I had put over 260 hours into my main save file and would've maxed out the ranks for all of the classes if the battery for my 2ds hadn't, uh, exploded
It was quite a fantastic little game. Recalling myself, HELL of a time sink
That game is darn good. I was far into the DLC when I got a new 3DS and then royally messed up the transfer between my old and my new one. Most games got out okay but my Fantasy Life progress was completely wiped. I always meant to go back and start again.
Got to God rank with every life, such a relaxing game!
I've tried so many times to get into it but I feel like I want to unlock all the jobs before starting the game and it takes forever just to get them all going. I know I can skip tutorials but just lemme play the game with everything!
it did what now
I wouldn't call any of these "clones" because that implies that it is exactly the same. These just are chill games and that's as close as they get to Animal Crossing.
Yeah, but using the "clones to AC" combined with the hype for NH will give the sweet, sweet views
"6 years old for us is 18 years old for them"
The FBI has entered the chat
I swear officer! She said she was 6!
@@galaxydoes8034 oh my god
My word Fantasy Life is pretty dang good, and one heck of a soul stealer. I only boot that game up when I know I have a few days to spare.
Well, more like it rents your soul, you don't ignore your entire life for it afterall. If it stole your soul, you'd be playing it almost non-stop.
Fantasy Life is SO good. The story and characters are so unique and fantastic and the gameplay is *chefs kiss*
Confirming that Fantasy Life ripz.
Considering I have become a Legend in 6 Lifes, A master in 3, and never got into Tailor, I can confirm this.
Heh. I've spent hours playing Fantasy Life, but I never really would have called it an Animal Crossing clone. It strikes me as more of a single player Runescape clone.
Vercalos al'Corlin yea I 100% Agree
400 hours and Paladin, Mercenary, Wizard, Hunter, Cook, Tailor, and Carpenter Legendary ranks agree with you.
Hot take: If the game includes crafting and combat, it's not an Animal Crossing clone. I think he's confusing "being in the same genre" for "being a clone".
Annastasia Larsen - Well to be fair Animal Crossing has had crafting since Pocket Camp, and combat in mini games in Amiibo Festival and New Leaf, but I get what you mean lmfao.
@@MeidoGhoul That just means Animal Crossing is taking cues from Minecraft clones.
Animal Crossing has combat if you're not a coward.
@@Quintwuzhere **traumatizing bee flashbacks**
But... Animal Crossing has crafting now. So Animal Crossing is no longer... Animal Crossing?
I remember getting MySims for free from a TacoBell kids meal. Not a demo, just the whole ass game. (It was the PC version though, not the Wii one.)
Wait
Taco Bell has kids meals!?
(Oh and maybe people are asking if Mysims has a pc version i guess)
@@IWannaBeRio They used to, they don't anymore though. And yes, MySims was on PC as well.
Dragon's Eye i’m pretty sure i know what you’re talking about. i remember getting some weird dancing game?
I defiantly remember getting some weird shitty BMX game from Taco Bell back in the day
How the hell did that happen?
Fantasy Life and My Time at Portia takes much, much more inspiration from Rune Factory than Animal Crossing to be honest (which is originally a fantastic spin-off of the Harvest Moon series). Not sure I would call those two Animal Crossing clones.
Austin: Says you need to beat Fantasy Life with more than one job
Me: *Laughs in fisherman*
I love the game with a passion I was a hunter but I also played the other classes. I did my own furniture, weapons, and clothes it was cheaper. My brother got into it he was a paladin and a Alchemist.
me as a tailorrrrr
WE BACK BAYBEE.
Have some more Animal Crossing Clones. I'm probably gonna do one more of these, so toss some suggestions at me!

Hold on just one second. There is an iCarly 2 speed running community? There had better be videos of that very thing here on RUclips. I might become convinced that was an absurd joke if there are none to be found.
They are building the community yes.
Check out EZScape Speedruns
People speedrun Rugrats: Royal Ransom so I don't see why they can't speedrun icarus
Yes. EZscape for example streamed a speedrun of it, and during the stream Jerry Trainor retweeted it lol! It was awesome
People speedrun battle for bikini bottom so
Wait... breezy paced games where you make friends, do fetch quests, build stuff, and chill in your room...
Does... does that mean Death Stranding is an Animal Crossing Clone too?
Keegan Seck Nah, ‘cause Animal Crossing isn’t a Strand-type game.
Yes.
"My Time at Port ee ah"
It's said Porsha. Porteeah, really? That hurt to listen to repeatedly.
Also Portia is DEFINITELY a Harvest Moon-like game (not even clone) just without farming, not Animal Crossing. Just because it has villagers doesnt make it Animal Crossing
The townspeople even call it Porsha.
If you wanna call portia a clone of anything, call it a clone of stardew, not AC
Makes me feel validated as my name is actually Portia and is pronounced that way :)
Exactly!
Team17 is developing an actual clone with animal neighbors.
Still it has different functions like the ability to make custom furniture by choosing parts to add like for example different table legs or a cushion to your sofas. And apparently you can grow more things than flowers but it's now exactly clear their function.
So it's like a mix between My Sims and Animal Crossing with some gardening.
Hot take: Portia is much more of a stardew valley clone than an ac one. I think austin is confusing “calming life simulators” with animal crossing clones...
I would say it's a bit more likely a Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons inspired game. Aside from that, I completely agree.
I loved MySims, never had an issue with the furniture and came back to it multiple times over the years as I grew up
Fantasy life is the game I bought because it was cheap and I just thought would be okay and now look at me ... crying when a random video has a fantasy life's ost, making fanarts of every character , well basucally dedicating my life to this game because of how impactful it has been on me and I'm glad to see more and more people say good things about it !!
Austin: "I've never seen a copy of iCarly 2 on the DS in the wild"
Me: stares at my ds case from across the room
...uh oh.
I actually asked for “Ever Oasis” as a Christmas gift, since I don’t have a lot of money, I tend to download a lot of Demo’s and then choose one to ask as birthday or Christmas gift.
It’s an amazing and fun game, except for the time mechanic, in around 2 minutes, 20 minutes have passed in-game. And then I have quests that involve enemies that come out only at night/day so it’s kinda frustrating sometimes. Haven’t finished the game yet, but I’m digging it
Imma be straight with you all: My Sims Kingdom for the Wii is one of my favorite games of all time. The first puzzle game I ever played, and it’s been my favorite since
As someone who still loves the MySims series to this day and would love to see a new game, as unlikely as that may be with the last game being cancelled in 2011(?), I actually enjoyed every title with the exception of MySims Kingdom for DS because progressing was confusing. I still played Wild World when these games were released, couldn’t afford City Folk at the time, but never really got an Animal Crossing vibe aside from the cutesy art style and having to complete tasks for others.
To have a MySims Kingdom (Wii) port and a MySims (Wii) port my life would become so much better.
I would love either a port/remake of the originals or a brand new game in the series but, this is modern day EA we're talking about and they don't care about whatever they don't think is monetize able.
One that no one talks about: Garden paws. It's basically animal crossing but you are one of the animals.
I await the day someone talks about my Sims kingdom because that was probably the best game in that spinoff series
Really wish they'd bring back My Sims. Agents and Kingdom were my favorite games for the longest time.
It was really good but the problem is they didn't really explain what you had to do so it got really confusing
mysims kingdom wii was my childhood
My cousin had it and I LOVED playing it
MySims Kingdom, travelling from island to island with Buddy and Lyndsay and getting that island from Roland at the end of the game was just brill, the creativity I had with that.
Austin, you are my favorite youtuber, period. Thank you for your quality videos! Please make more! Although i dont understand the hate on the 3ds library. Countless classics on that system.
With love, your fan,
Luc

This video could not have come at a better time - I literally just picked up a copy of MySims from my local Disc Replay in Countryside this week. It must be a sign..! I cannot wait to play and stream this game. Massive nostalgia treasure trove, thank you Austin.
God, I adore Fantasy Life. It's one of my favorite games from Level-5 and I figured their newest game _(or rather, port of a 3DS/mobile game)_ Snack Kingdom would be something similar! Turns out it's not, but at least we get a banger of an opening song with lyrics about eating pork chops and cell phone addiction!
"As you may have seen from my fancy new intro" he says, showing the fancy new intro after the sponsorship.
I’m so happy he covered the icarly game
Real talk, I remember having a huge crush on the my sims dj as a kid lmao
Yessss!!! I Love Fantasy Life! So happy to see it get the attention it deserves.
GOD i love fantasy life so much. hey level 5 how about a uhhhh one those ummmmmmm switch ports
I literally started last night playing it and am so mad I miss out out on it for years. But being locked on my 3ds and not able to play on my TV frustrates me.
With Snack World out, an inferior product imo, I am afraid they will feel as though that it replaces that niche.
Have you played Snack World? It reminds me of fantasy life so maybe you would like it...
@@SmallLittleMy It lacks the profession stuff, such as gathering and Snack World crafting is based on monster drops, no? Is the combat the same?
@@violet_turning_violent yea... It lacks the professions and it's a dungeon crawler, but I think it's cool in its own way... The combat changed and it's pretty fun to play
A year or so back it got an app game
This guy is deadass the only one who doesn’t like the 3DS lmao
I love hearing all this love for Fantasy Life, it's such a good game!
Fantasy Life is great, but it can get kinda grindy especially if you're a completionist and/or have nobody to play with to balance out crafting and gathering with different classes
I really like Fantasy Life, although that’s probably just me.
Fantasy Life was a lot of fun. I hope we can get a sequel one day.
It was the first game I got obsessed with when I was like, 16. Even if I struggle to get back into it today I have really fond memories of it
fantasy life is my favorite 3DS game
It's not just you
I love it too, I like what it does differently and how jobs work.
Fantasy Life isn't an Animal Crossing clone and I refuse to let anyone call it such.
It has similarities to Animal Crossing but it has its own uniqueness to not be labeled a clone of Animal Crossing.
I haven’t seen anyone talk about fantasy life for years! Thanks for bringing it up again!
"One copy of Doom Eternal please."
i grew up playing the ds version of mysims (aka before i even knew animal crossing existed and i just played whatever ds game my parents got for me and my brother which also included pokemon black which was my introduction to the pokemon franchise)
Oh boy, MySims was MY JAM
Mainly the one where you played as a spy and the plane one.
Oh man and also Fantasy Life that game is great
MySims Agent, the green haired assistant lad got me as a kid with all the V jokes. I remember laughing so bad when he called that V guy "Vending Machine". I don't see what I found so funny but wow did that crack me up as a kid.
!!!! i LOVE fantasy life! my brother got it for me as a gift a few years ago and i fell in love with how simple it is and how much you can do. i’ve restarted it three times just to play the other ranks. i’m not good at combat games but the mechanics are super simple and easy to get a hold of
MySims DS was a big part of my early childhood
Actually, Fantasy Life was made with non-combat jobs in mind. For my first playthrough, I focused mostly on Tailor, while doing some Alchemy and some cooking. You can actually be a total pacifist if you wanted for the main story, because you can pretty much skip attacking the bosses and go for the thing that they always keep pointing out to you.
Although that said, if you want to become a legend at these Lives, you may have to branch out anyway, so you are not wrong! :) You just don't need it for the main quest is all!
Can't forget the Japanese only Fantasy Life Mobile!
Austin: Hmm, a train platform where have I seen this before?
*shows a scene from the first part of Animal Crossing*
Also Austin: Red Dead Redemption.
Me: Dead! 😂💀
Hi, MySims fan here. MySims on the PC is sooooo much better control-wise. Yes, it is a fetch quest basically, but I love creating furniture, designing houses, and crap like that. I can’t speak about the other games in the series, but MySims Kingdom and Agents are very solid games; both of them have more engaging gameplay and are story-driven.
In Kingdom, you don’t build furniture, you can design houses and lots; furniture comes pre-made. You build in real-time with bigger lots and puzzle solving. The Wii remote is used much better in this game as well.
In Agents, the focus is mostly on the detective/secret agent story. The writing IMO is very good especially for a MySims game. If you didn’t know anything about the MySims games, I’d definitely recommend you try this one first.
Edit: I’m talking about the ones on the Wii. Have not tried the DS ones, but they are literally different games. Don’t know why they would name it the same though.
Fantasy Life was one of my favorite 3ds games
Man, no mention of Rune Factory. You should check it out, basically a jrpg animal crossing that has many sequels. Rune Factory 4 is being released on the switch next week.
Port-ee-uh? Okay then.
GligarGuy Isn’t he a Canadian?
@@hatuhsawl Is he? Both the video description and his Twitter mention Austin, Texas.
@@hatuhsawl Im Canadian. I pronounce it Por-Sha
The funny thing is the voice actors in the game pronounce it as both port-ee-uh and por-sha, so who knows how it was meant to be pronounced.
@@hatuhsawl idk but I'm Canadian and say if Porsha
All 12 of us who played Fantasy Life are going absolutely wild over this video right now
I remember really liking MySims Kingdom on the DS. It feels a lot more like Animal Crossing than the console games, and it had tons of fun things to do. Give it a try. Trust me, it's nothing like the Wii games.
My Time At Portia is such a weird, good time
You just dug my sims out of the deepest darkest parts of my memory... I use to play that all the time... I built everything you could for the main storyline I legit could only talk and build random things for myself
Austin: Shows both DQB Games
Also Austin: Never covers them
Fantasy life is one of my fave 3ds games
I have been saying how underappreciated fantasy life is for years. In fact, I may go back and play fantasy life again, because it's so damn good.
Fantasy Life is such an amazing game.
Can't say the same for Snack World.
I used to have MySims Kingdom when I was a kid, and it was one of my favourite games. I used to catch fish all day. Shame it was stolen by some kids who went to my house at the time.
God I LOVED fantasy life 🥺💖 wish it gets ported to switch
I used to play My Sims all the time as a kid
Can't exactly be a Yokai Watch factory when your 3 most recent games are impossible to find...
Tepid take: The DS version of My Sims is very boring and makes the Wii version look like an epic masterpiece.
I grew up on the ds version and I like it more? It's no masterpiece but I kinda hate the Wii games building system with a passion. My Sims Kingdom for the DS is my favorite tho
@@TerrenceMarie It's the same with My Sims Kingdom. I grew up with and love the Wii version to death, so I was very shocked to see how different the DS version was.
@@TerrenceMarie I was gifted the DS version together with the first Kim Possible DS game which I *adored,* so My Sims may have been at a disadvantage there to begin with. :'D But I do remember being a bit frustrated with the limited options for interacting with the world, especially after I finished the story for the first time.
...
Man, talking about this makes me want to play my old DS games again. I'll go do that now.
My Time at Portia sounds exactly like a 3D Stardew Valley...
Which is more of a Harvest Moon genre than Animal Crossing
It pretty much is a 3D stardew. It essentially has the same characters and bachelors, but has more focus on crafting than farming. And a bit more in terms of story.
My gf introduced me to Suikoden V and frankly, I'm obsessed. XD
*"Teaching Kids About Zoning And Growth, Or Just How To Summon Godzilla To Destroy Humanity."*

"Is that Yukiko?"
And suuuuubscribe.
Word. Atlus fans Rise up.
*ARIANA* *GRANDE:* THE GREATEST PERSONA 5 CHARACTER!!!!
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives Gosh I wish I could play the Persona games on Switch (as I refuse to give Sony my money). If Atlus ports Persona 3 to Switch, I hope the unused female character from 3 original that was included in Portable 3 gets added with The Answer post endgame content. The reason 3 portable didn't have The Answer is because they ran out of memory on the UMD. With the Switch that's not an issue, so if Atlus DOES port Persona 3 FES to Switch, they COULD add the 3 Portable content with it if they so choose to. Cause currently, you can only have one or the other, not both The Answer and the female gender option with the alternate dialog and Social Links and alternate starter Persona look (the female character's version of the same Persona looks different than if you play as a guy in any game of Persona 3) I want to finally be able to save my character from you know who. Truth be told, I never made it to the final boss, instakill spells kept giving me gameovers...
Man held the world record on the hardest song for Persona 4 dancing all night
Tomo Saki You complain so much for a god damn Nintendo fanboy. Keep begging.
I can't believe I got an Animal Crossing: New Horizons ad on this video.
My little brother got MySims on the Wii and I really enjoyed it. It was mad basic and definitely not anything mind blowing, but it could be a fun time killer.
Alright. Since nobody else is saying it, I think I have to. Wiala is a solid 10/10 and well worth the price of admission
That bit of Fantasy Life having Uematsu compose the music made me remember when I learned that Uematsu has done some of the songs in the small mobile game known as Granblue Fantasy
Fantasy Life is in my top three favorite games! It came out on my birthday the worst year of my life. For sure helped me through some shit. Got to God level in everything. Well over 300 hours put in. Too good.

i got fantasy life as a random christmas gift back in 2013 and it kind of ruined my life because I played it so much
addendum: i had a copy of iCarly 2 for the DS when I was even younger and knowing that it could be a melted pile of slag all these years later is slightly unnerving
If you make a third episode of this or a Harvest Moon clone video, can you please talk about the Rune Factory series? :0
The mysims series was probably one of my top 3 back when i was a kid, and I hold all of them deep in my heart
I made the decision to sit out on Fantasy Life back then but I really wanted it. It's pretty cool to see Austin talk about that game and tell me it actually turned out to be a good game.
My Sims for the DS brings me back to my childhood man. Kind of regret selling it
*"I'd Bequeath Upon You, iCarly Two...I Did Not Mean To Rhyme It."*
Lol! 😂😂😂
I love animal crossing, but honestly, calling Fantasy Life an Animal Crossing clone is not really fair. Fantasy life has a big map (for Nintendo DS games), it has different skills with a system of levels and a lot more things to do like mining, cooking, fighting and all the jobs are connected and create a complex system - animal crossing lacks skills, different worlds and fights. Also Fantasy life has a story, comparing the two is like comparing a bike to a car...
Austin: No, Naruto be nice!
Naruto: Believe it!
I died lol! 😂😂😂
When I saw fantasy life in the first video I was patiently waiting for you to talk about it. I loved that you loved it, then you followed it up with iCarly 2.
It was subtle but I love the fact that you used music from Lunar Silver Star Story in your video.
I thought this would be a let's play but it was a video essay in disguise.
Ommggg your entire last video, I was hoping you'd bring up MySims!! It was the clone I grew up on, rather than Animal Crossing hahaha
MY SIMS WAS MY FAVORITE!! Travis was my fake boyfriend lmao!!!
I’ve put so many hours into Fantasy Life it is such an amazing game
Fantasy Life is one of my favorite games of all time. So happy for the recognition.
I have almost 300 hours in Fantasy Life. That game is really fun, has an amazing amount of content, and a really interesting plot.
no lie, my sims party was actually super fun. i loved playing the mini-games at the festivals, and then seeing the effects that it had on the town and the residents - and also customizing my 500 playable characters i would make :-)c
I've been playing My Sims (and My Sims Kingdom) these past few weeks. It's not great, but a nice thing to play while listening to podcasts/audiobooks lol

Also, I paused just as you said Dark Cloud (I freaking love Dark Chronicle - it's easily my favourite ps2 game)
Oh my gosh, I LOVED My Sims as a child!! I would assault everyone and build ugly houses everywhere and for some reason, it was the best thing in the world for me.
I can not express my love for my sims. -I unlocked all the things-
Gonna be honest I love My Sims Kingdom. It gave you an adventure (of sorts at least) to go on, the tasks were varied and p fun, and the controls were p good
I didn't know I wanted this till I saw it in my sub box clicked on it and enjoyed the heck out of it so well played Austin well played...
my time at portia and fantasy life aren't animal crossing clones. i get that it was mentioned in the video that some of these are more harvest moon like, but the video is called animal crossing clones. if you're going to make more of this series i'd suggest either changing the name or finding games that fit a bit better.
also i've never heard someone pronounce portia like that. what the heck
"Unlike some of your harvest moons"
Me: glances between title and that line
