The Able Sisters are hedgehogs, not porcupines. You can tell because their snouts are long and pointy, whereas porcupines have blunter snouts. Porcupines also have fan-like tails, and hedgehogs have small, stubby tails. Sorry, it's a rather big pet-peeve of mine when people confuse the two animals and think their names are interchangeable. Love the video regardless, Elijah!
This made me realise that a cute animal crossing sequel would be instead of building a town from a deserted island, to restore an abandoned town and make it’s the player’s
Shouldn't the player be a part of the town? Not the sole focus? It's a flaw of NH and even NL which is my favorite. Also that cute animal crossing sequel is... every game after the first? There's games before NH. Anyways small rant, thanks for reading, stay safe
@@_RolyThe player is the focus because it's an RPG, we literally have to have a main character to play since... It's a video game. Genuinely curious how you see a game going without us as the main character, something like tododachi life?
@@cottoncandiez8872 Obvious the player character is the players focus, what I really mean is all the other characters lives seem to revolve around the player, unlike the older games where they seem to have (somewhat) had their own lives. Obviously the game wouldn't happen without the player, I know that, but everything in the newer Animal Crossing games seems to revolve around the player, and only the player.
As someone who bought the very first Animal Crossing on GameCube only 2 months after it launched and who has purchased every title since, I couldn't be more proud. This series was a crutch for my depression before I ever knew that I was depressed. This game has connected me with hundreds of people that I may not otherwise have met in person. This series has given me an amazing sense of calm on days where I feel anything but calm. I owe the series a great deal, and the developers are heroes.
Animal crossing is such a wonderful game & franchise, I really hope that for the next game Nintendo takes the best features from New Leaf and New Horizons, combines them and then add more features to take the game to the next level. I would love for it to become a game with more progression, things to work towards, great multiplayer features such as servers and minigames, more complex relationships with villagers & NPCs as well as more updates & support from Nintendo. I believe these things would give the game a much longer lifecycle and cement it as a legendary game.
I would also love more 'secrets' too, like magical elements, things to stumble upon and find out on your own which would really add to the mystique of the game. As a child the game really created this for me, but now Animal Crossing has a massive adult audience who grew up with the game and for many it has lost some of its charm. I think New Horizons is a good base game for the next instalment, but I would love to see some more attention to detail and especially multiplayer features that create that sense of community.
Talking about villagers, I want them to be more like their personality and talk about more stuff than just the same 5 things! Like the cranky villagers to be more rude, the snooty villagers to be a bit more look centered and they could perhaps critize the player’s outfit, but become less "mean" over time, depending on your friendship level with them. Smug villagers to be more annoying at the beginning but start to become less annoying. I want the mini-games back from New Leaf, like that game was peak online multi player. And I want them to have all the things to be in the game from the get-go instead of waiting for things to be added via updates. I think why it didn‘t work for ACNH was because everyone stayed home all the time and therefore these updates could only be really enjoyed for a short time.
The biggest thing for me is bringing back the complex personalizes and much larger amount of unique dialogue that was present in the original game and Wild World. If we could combine that with all of the new features that have came with NL and NH that would be amazing.
The only issue I have with ideas like this is people striving for Nintendo to support a game for a long time. For as long as Animal Crossing has been out, New Horizons was the ONLY one to have regular updates to bring more content because it wasn’t finished upon release. They released it with basic functions because of the pressure from fans, as they had already extended the release of it. New Leaf had an update to release content 4 years after it released, for amibo compatibility. Nintendo has only ever released finished games and has rarely, if ever, supported their games years after release. To keep hoping for something they’d, more than likely, never do is setting yourself up for disappointment. Your best bet is to hope that they release the next one with completion.
Animal crossing clock actually helped me out in a great way once. My phone broke, and I needed to get make sure I got up for work in the morning the next day and was panicking because I had no other alarm that I could use besides my phone. Then I remembered I had animal crossing clock on my 3DS and used it to wake up the next day for work. It's awesome for that reason alone, haha.
I forgot which team member said it but I remember they mentioned about the fact all special npcs are made to fit their role in the town that is why the museum is run by an owl and the post office was run by pelicans and dogs were the police.
I bought new horizon recently nothing near nothing about animal crossing except for the basic idea of what you do and some of the characters. I’m absolutely in love with it and I love watching your channel while I play, I’ve learned a lot
Glad you’re also enjoying a game millions of others love. The only downside is that I wish newer players had experience from older games so they’d have a more, well rounded animal crossing experience.
Incredibly underrated channel, I just listened to this whole thing with my boyfriend while we were playing ACNH and absolutely loved it. Learned a lot too! It really makes me appreciate Animal Crossing even more, which I didn't think was possible. It doesn't matter if this game hasn't had an update in years, it's timeless, and I'm so glad to still see people making new AC content since I just got back into it full hyperfixation all these years later.
I personally joined in during the New Leaf era, because I was born in 2008, so I wasn't really able to experience anything else Animal-Crossing wise. I never got to play New Leaf or Happy Home Designer, but I played Pocket Camp and amiibo Festival, and I had a blast, I fell in love with the design of the franchise and was so excited when New Horizons came out, because I had an excuse to play an actual mainline Animal Crossing game. Nintendo was such an integral part of my early childhood, that it'd be crazy to think what I'd be like if we never had a Wii, or I never got that old hand-me-down DSi from my brother. It's crazy to think where I'd be without playing endless hours of Wii Sports as a little kid who hated exercise. It'd be crazy to think who I'd be without Nintendo, and I'm forever grateful for that.
I really love your channel because despite the vast majority of AC related conent you always find something new and exciting. I am always looking forward to your videos :) keep it up
30:47 That clock app was my alarm for like two years when my phone charger was too far away from my bed, consequently the Wild World hour themes have been ruined for me lol
I have been playing AC since the GameCube release when I was around 7 years old. Watching this video has given me a much greater appreciation for the game and those who were responsible for the creation of it. Thank you so much for making this video 😊
Wild World was my first game for Animal Crossing since I never had any game consoles beforehand. I didn't even learn that there had been a previous AC game on the Gamecube until I was a good chunk into New Leaf's days lol I still feel silly proud about how much the game has developed through time because it's my comfort game, per se
I love the original reason the creator had for animal crossing because it essentially repeated itself in 2020 Edit: I commented this before he got to it in the video oops 😅😂
One of my favourite things in the world of game development are found prototypes. For example, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is... rather infamous for its many prototypes. From Nick Arcade all the way to Beta 8, an internal testing beta made in the last week of development.

2:19 I know that game. It’s an indie horror game called “Harvet Festival” or something along those lines, and it was made for a game competition, obviously being based off of animal crossing. 2:41 also that’s Earthbound 64 (early Mother 3 before it got cancelled and was remade for the Gameboy Advance instead) if I remember correctly. I have no clue what the rest of the *not actual footage* stuff is, but I feel kinda smart for knowing these two instances! (I’m a HUGE indie horror fan + Mother 3 fan so if you want more information from me about it, I’ll spew you a paragraph for free!!)
@@lillatoons71 Earthbound 64 was a game that was planned to be released, but due to device problems, it wasn’t. The trailer for it is the only footage we have of it as far as I know. Instead, the team behind it decided to move it to the GBA, along with changing character designs and style choices to fit the story better on the new device. The game was called Mother 3, and released only in Japan (as far as I know) due to how many things would have to be changed for localization (some of which directly impacted the story) and also because some of the dialogue and story elements were considered “controversial” in other countries due to regional differences. For a very long time, Mother 3 was a mystery to those outside of Japan, until a team named Team Tomato (I think) decided to translate the ENTIRE GAME into English and let it out publicly via ROMS. When the project was about to be finished, the team got an email from someone claiming to be at Nintendo, telling the team that if they went ahead with this, no official translation would come out. The team sent it out anyway, mostly in physical form (I own a physical copy myself that I got at a game store, it was near other ROMS such as fake Pokémon games) as not many people owned a GBA emulator I don’t think. Once the translation was released, Mother 3 became a major phenomenon (probably due to how mysterious the game was before the translation) to this day it has a semi-big world wide (?) cult following, making fanart, posting RUclips videos about the games story, and praying for a Mother 3 remake/official release in almost every single Switch announcement thingy (I forgot the name). I haven’t completed the game yet due to procrastination and not knowing how to solve a simple puzzle to progress. Also because with the light I need to see it, it drains the GBA’s batteries somewhat, which is kinda annoying. I’m sorry I’m so late, I didn’t get notified of this comment. I hope I didn’t let you down

"diversity" meaning Japanese women, instead of solely 99% Japanese men only. What about ethnic, LGBTQIA+, cultural diversity, and geographical diversity and more? Just curious ~~~~
Animal crossing will always be one of those games that makes me sentimental. Growing up with this game, playing with my friends, spending hours and hours perfecting my town and unlocking all of the shops, it was just different back then. I’m truly saddened about Nintendo taking away the online play feature for the 3Ds consoles soon, I have to play ACNL with friends soon even if it’s one last time. 💔

WTF!!! Mini games we never got to see!!!! And they use the villagers!!! This is what I've been saying these Animal Crossing games really need to make them feel more alive (besides some actual AI includsion to make the villagers less robotic).

Growing up with this game, playing with my friends, spending hours and hours perfecting my town and unlocking all of the shops, it was just different back then.
