The reason Pascal looks so much different from Lottie and Lyle is probably because they're river otters, while he's a sea otter. They have different shaped mouths, and sea otters have shorter, flatter tails. They also float on their backs. River otters are more sleek, have longer tails, and swim belly down like most aquatic animals.

I found out completely by accident that in New Horizons, if you shoot a present out of the sky directly above a simple well (the big stone well with no top cover), even if there are empty ground tiles surrounding it, the present will fall straight down into the well and disappear instead of bouncing off onto the ground. Considering how circumstantial it is, I just find it really funny that they even thought to add soemthing like that.

The thing with the Wistful Painting only happens with the fake version. Other fake paintings and statues have some spooky things, too, like a handprint or key on their canvas' back or glowing at night.

Hide and seek is in New Horizons too, it just happens very rarely, but you’ll get approached by a villager who asks you to find 3 villagers within a time limit for a present. But I’m not sure what the algorithm is to get it to happen.

I've never seen anyone talk about this but the person on the rescue service is resetti/someone close to him because if you try to use the rescue service with less than 100 nook miles he says something like
"calm down resetti" so it is him or someone near him, probably his brother

I think when the snowboy says that he thinks he's an alien, I think he means that by the definition of "alien" as: "A being from a planet other than your own", not the typical thing you think of when the word "alien", and instead those generic aliens you see in so many forms of media. Heck, if any of us could travel to a different planet that had intelligent life forms, we'd fit the definition of "alien" that I think is what the snowboy means by that word. The word alien doesn't have to be directed solely on those generic shapes of aliens we all know of

Basically it's like that game for babies of stacking colourful rings on that pole, where it's nice to see it go from big in the bottom to small in the top (DD-MM-YYYY), it looks a bit wrong when it's upside down (Canadian YYYY-MM-DD), and it just looks wrong when it's completely out of order (MM-DD-YYYY). Just google the game "Dude, Stop.".
Perhaps if they had settings for different English regions; there could be less controversy over British slang terms that are not even known of overseas.

11:38 Probably one of the reasons why sea otters and river otters are designed completely separately is that, in Japanese, they don’t share a common name. River otters are usually called カワウソ kawauso, whereas sea otters are ラッコ rakko. I for one had never made a connection until it’s pointed out in this video.
They’re also probably designed differently because they ARE different. They don’t look the same in real life and are not the same thing

About the point brought up here...I think different real‐life things can be stylized differently because they are different, but they can also be designed similarly because they are mentally bunched together. There are real cats (猫) that look different, too, but there is only one variant in game. Of course animal villagers share head types but “cats” don’t HAVE to be one type, if designers feel it’s more appropriate otherwise. An English speaker might design cartoonish “otter” characters to look somewhat similar to each other regardless of if they are river ones or sea ones, but that probably isn’t even a consideration for a Japanese‐speaking designer.
I can't wait for the fact that Ike and Poko are the only know villagers to be biologically related outside kangaroo (father and son respectively).

Fun fact Resetti's N64 outfit(long sleeve shirt) if you can see his midsection you can see something yellow. He's wearing a haramaki(meaning belly wrap) which is a Japanese belly warmer. In Japan during the 70s & 80s it was considered out-of-date underwear for old men. In some anime stuff old men wear that shirt & belly warmer so Resetti is depicted as an old man yelling at you for resetting.

the yellow birds and owls have been on the bulletin boards since at least city folk (i haven't played enough wild world or the og game to remember if they're featured) they're an indicator that there are new posts on your town/islands board, usually with the amount of birds signifying the amount of unread posts

Hide and Seek was so funny on City Folk (or Let's Go To the City). Filbert came up to me and asked to play, and he got Pecan and Blaire, I think, to play and oh my goodness are they bad at hiding! Was terribly fun though as Filbert is my favourite villager.

I think the rough translation for Booker's Chinese localization is because in Chinese, it's kind of like a sign of endearment or respect to elders who are male to call them uncle. And so, at least from my experience with the language (which is admittedly limited), this is typically done by referring to them as 大爺, but in the case of Booker and Copper it's 叔叔, which also means uncle, but specifically an uncle who's younger than your own father, meanwhile 大爺 is the opposite, an uncle who's older than your own father. It is weird, though, that they didn't give Copper and Booker some unique names at the very least. I think it would have been neat if they did like a play on words kind of name, where their names are homophones of police. Or even just naming Copper as Jing (警) and Booker as Cha (察), which together form the pronunciation for 警察 (police).
My Animal Crossing birthday twin is Apple. I honestly think it fits because, like me, she is either seen as cute, creepy, or ugly.

I know I'm late to comment but about the US/UK localization of a football:
I'm a game translator and we rarely get images of what we translate (I, personally, just get a quick blurb about the project, unfortunately). Most larger companies just send us an excel file with all the lines and words to translate and we have to base ourselves off of this and our own deductions. In the worst cases higher-ups don't even answer our emails in time. It's very possible that a translator just saw "football" and had no other context as to what this item was, or didn't have time to check lol

This is similar to Giraffes and Qilins/Kirins!
Qilins (Chinese)/Kirins (Japanese) are essentially a dragon-deer hybrid. They represent justice and are extremely caring beasts. They don’t harm a single living thing, including grass, unless there is an evil being, in which they will pretty brutally kill.
So, supposedly, when Giraffes were brought to the emperor of China at the time, they were mistaken for the Qilin, and named after them.
Although Qilin are more draconic with lion tails, and Kirin are more deer-like with ox tails (tbh the tails are similar anyways). It’s honestly no surprise they thought Giraffes were draconic, they are gigantic, have horns, and their spots could look like scales. Plus, they both have manes, a tufted tail, and have deer-like legs.
Lottie should be with Digby in the roost on a date, that would be an amazing Easter egg
