I like how it's just the studio version with a bit of reverb. Great song though
Doh! Now I feel really stupid 😜
Jim Newstead there actually is a real live version very prominent in there as well. It’s a very strange blend the guy did, but I did find the audio he used on RUclips, and it sounds excellent.
Yea, I think @opiateofthemasses is right. It sounds like there is also a live version mixed with the studio one. Very interesting to be honest.
I don't know, man. Tool play so tight and close to the album versions. It may be a mix? The solo sounds too exact to be live but the ending is definitely not the album version, either. There are a couple beats added at the end for live shows.
L.A. Native Go to the original video it shows all the sources for the video clips and how he got the audio in the description.
Disposition-Reflection-Triad
THIS!!! Best piece of music/art ever put out.
This !!! All 3 consecutively is a must !
Them ^ , what they said
please consider doing this holy trinity by listening this amazing live Inner Ear Audio of these 3 songs! This contains alot of great stuff which are not included in those studio recordings. The video can be found by searching this Tool - HOLY TRINITY LIVE [HD Video](IEM)
criminal mayne for the first time listening to it i think the studio version is way better, then, when he gets used to it, the live version
Hands down the BEST!! concert my wife and I have been fortunate enough to attend! Truly transcendent experience!!! Love your reaction to Tool Jim keep up the good work!!!
My wife is from morocco and didnt understand why i was paying so much for their last limited date tour until she went with me. She loved every second. I have live video but only from my phone. Sound quality sucks but still sounds ok imho. My neck hurt 2 weeks after from all the movement. There is nothing like a live TOOL show. They are pros of the pros.
The pro shot live version of sober from 93 is epic. Worth a viewing.
I've been watching that once a month for years now lol
we are tired of hearing sober lol
even tool is tired of it
@@sheldonbenton5278 Neat.
2:45 That sweat dripping off Justin’s face though. Working hard :))
Wish I could collect his sweat
@@oregondude9411 bro what
The spotlights don't help
Lol you're the man...keep doing Tool and I'll keep coming back.
#metoo
Lol Clint westwood. That's great haha
The track is the studio version just edited into the live vid. Great vid either way
The solo sounds like the studio version but, the ending is definitely not the studio version...
I get tickled to see how your reactions , mannerisms, thought processes, and feedback is exactly how all of us tool fans reacted in every way... Constantly... Love your reactions .. thanks. TOOL is unmatched in every way.
Haha! Mr Tickle :)
I seen them live and hands down the best performers I've seen. If you thought this video was edited good, you haven't seen nothing yet. Freaking perfect, trippy, and clean concert. Best light show too.
Your face was so sad when you thought it was over already..then when it came back...priceless
lol.. 5:39 "Aww bugger.." Tool.. Psyche! 5:40 "Hell Yeah!" and 9:15 "I MUST SEE THEM LIVE!" Another great video, and yes, they are that perfect live. I've been blessed enough to see them once. Again, great video, loved your reaction, I'm officially subbed. Have a great day and cheers!
Ha! You've got me so right!!!!
Jambi is probably the most interesting song on 10.000 days. it has an awesome build to it with a lot of things you wouldnt expect. The Only tool song that beats that fr me is right in two
Felidrummer1 and herein lies the beauty of Tool, I'd probably say Wings/10000 Days while others would say Lost keys/Rosetta Stoned, and theres definitely those who list Vicarious as theirs even though it's more straightforward. I even saw one bloke in the comments who picked Intension as their favorite live song. Never a wasted second of interesting music 🤙
Check out the combined of wings pt 1&2 and Viginti Tres
@@Afasia420 did. Alot :D
@@WardenOfSouls honestly. It's just still a big troll. Lmao.
@@Afasia420 you know only tool can accidentally create an insane song xD
I see people make comments all the time about they are boring because they dont run around all over the stage acting like fools , their music requires so much concentration and precision that if they did do all that running around they would never be able to pull it off , for my taste i would rather them just stand there and deliver the masterpiece that it is meant to be
Your appreciation for Tool will grow exponentially once you see them live. Thanks for posting Jim!
I think a song you'd like is Wings for Marie + 10 000 Days (Wings Pt. 2). Those are two songs which are essentially one, and together they form one of Tool's best prog epics, lasts around 17 minutes but is worth the listen. The song is an ode to Maynard's mother who was paralyzed for around 33 years (around 10000 days) before dying, and lyrically is one of the most touching Tool songs. The instrumentation is brilliant and full of build-ups and climaxes, and judging by your reactions and what you seem to have liked in their previous songs, I think you'll really love this one. Just be wary of one of the videos of the song on youtube (for me it's the second one that comes up when you search the song) - it's very distorted and compressed so make sure to check if it sounds good before doing the reaction.
Keep it up with the great videos!
Nice reaction. Another fantastic song from this album is Right in Two.
All their live shows are as close to the album as any band I've heard. It's amazing to see them. The aura and the environment is amazing. Watch Right In Two next. With lyrics. Their songs are all very Fernando meaningful, and that one in particular touches me in ways the others don't. And that's saying a lot.
Yeahhhh... Tool lyrics always seem so poignant, and touch me deeply. And then right in two is so heartbreakingingly on the nose it's almost molestation...
Because they don't go to the studio until they can play through the shit live
People forgets how long each Tool songs are. Very long&I love it. Tool is more than lead singer
It's about the whole band. Everyone connected together so well.
Tool live is an amazing experience. I have seen them 5 times and it has been fantastic every single time. They also have very interesting opening acts every time. They gave me my first exposure to bands like Isis and Meshuggah. Amazing.
Such a good song. Whoever made this did a great job
I didn't realize I needed my "mirror neurons" lit up today, but when I saw "Jambi" next to your name I yelled, "Yes!" in my head. Great reaction. Like the duck joke. ha ha.
You the man Jim!
Right in two - tool ..... my favorite from that album next to The Pot
Hey Jim. Did I mention you're the man!
Saw Tool live in Vancouver last Summer. Maynard, to this day, still possesses an incredible voice.
🤘🏻 I don’t know how I haven’t see your videos yet. I am glad to have found you! The way you were giddy there at the end is how I feel about this song every time I listen to it!! Just about every other song of theirs too! I’ve seen them four times in total!! Three of which were this last tour! It is such a pleasant experience. I’m excited to see all of your Tool reactions!
Such an amazing song. Probably my Tool number one.
This is the audio from the studio version with post-production editing though ;)
I'm off to go watch them tomorrow night in an insanely muddy field...can't wait
i adore watching people listen to Tool for the first time.
That intro always makes newbies smile. Wait for the drop in the middle. So great.
This is the studio version made to sound live and not recorded during a live concert. The video footage is live obviously.
HUGE song, huge sound, huge bass.
This is the best Jambi video out there.
That was studio bro.
Love ur comment
"I was just listening to them play with each other " giggity goo.
Hey Jim if you’re going to react to one of tool’s live performances try to react to one from the 90’s. Maynard was borderline psychotic back then and very entertaining!
Right in two! The video is awesome as well
In deed, yes it is a hell of an experience. I've seen them on June 2nd in Berlin for the 5 time in my life. Today, I guess, there is not much out there that can be compared to TOOL live. It's so intense and so mindblowin' that I can't find words to discribe it propperly. Anyway, if you ever have the chance to see them live, just go. Don't think about, just go. You will remember it for the rest of your life.
Definitely the studio version. Whoever edited this video did a great job tho.
What about the ending?
this is a live version. that pause at the breakdown 5:40is held slightly longer than album version, and you can hear the crowd in the background at times also(i know someone could add that but sounds legit live recording).
if u have headphones u can quite clearly hear how the ending is extended between 9:04 - 9:05 or so, this is just the studio version
? you don't need headphones but yeah, its extended because they play an extended version LIVE
? dont know how u can hear it without headphones because i only use them myself, anyway you can hear the little cut on maynards voice where the extension happens, you definitely didnt get my point which is it isnt LIVE :)
I saw Tool live in October of 2017. It was AMAZING. An entire arena on the same page, just jamming during 46 & 2 will stick with me forever.
you might be surprised but the singer maynard does some kind of performance, he dances in the shadows, saw that on a concert of apc (best concert in my life), cheered me up to see him enjoying and experiencing his very own music
but most important: this genius maynard does really sing live as good as in the studios! he isnt performing that hard so he can concentrate on his great singing with his outstanding voice, give it a try!
seen tool live at the Molson amphitheatre in Toronto and this is what it is.
Ive seen them live twice. Its an amazing experience.
Thanks Jim!!. Would love to se you react to Tool live at JC Dobbs '92 or live at Glass House '96. This is Tool in there younger days and you wouldn't believe Mallard's stage presence and energy!!!!!
All TooL are stunning
It wasn’t always this way. Look up “Tool- Pushit /The Fan Incident” and LOL away. :)
That's literally why my name is Maynard owns...
That's the luckiest fan ever
Dude those are some serious headphones!! Badass!!
Jambi was my fav song they played when I saw them
Wow, what a great editing job! Loved it!
The talk box was I believe made from a R n B band artist ROGER N ZAPP some badass jams also
That was so much fun! Thank you!
TOOL- Pushit live 1.31.2012 huntingtonst1 absolute perfection
Toledo? I was at that show
I LOVE TOOL!!!!
Tool - Parabol-Parabola
I love this song, and I've never heard guitars 'sing' like they do (in this version) from 6:19 - 6:41. To my ears, it's a purity of sound that has no equal.
The guitars are singing ;)
He's using a talk box.
A device where you sing into a tube and it converts into guitar frequencies.
They have changed their performance a bit over time, definitely worth checking out a old performance of some of their earlier stuff. Maynard really shows a ton of passion and energy through performance in his earlier live gigs, not isolated to the vocal performance. Quite the spectacle to watch. Anything from 91-98 really.
Yeah he's had hip replacements and back problems...
Love your reactions. Thank you.
you should watch no quarter live by tool.
Peter Frampton used the voice box live on "Do You Feel Like I Do" back in the 60's. Great use of it. You could literally hear him speaking with it.
Hard to belive, but tool is much much better live than in the studio, sound wise! You can hear everything better. Crazy really!! ❤
The vocals live, oh man, you hear every single Word.
As pointed out by others, this is the studio version.
Sound from the original track with some reverb, but the guy did a good job !
The only live band that sounds sooooooo much like the studio versions of their songs in concert, but you can tell there are no pre-recorded bits
I mean the vocals are 100% match, wich is sus. Its one of y favorite songs and listening to this its just way to similar and clean to be live.
It"s time for more MARS VOLTA - CYGNUS..VISMUND CYGNUS! thank you great job
It is a video made from many angles. The audio is absolutely from a live show. Tool is the tightest/cleanest live show you could ever see. Maynard had to retire some screamy songs to get through tours, but all the audio is that perfect when you stand in front of them.
Just for the hell of it, and not for a reaction video, you should check out Maynard choking a fan on stage. A guy jumps up and tries to act like an ass on stage, so Maynard hugs him at first, then takes him to the ground and chokes him out while still singing the song.
He claims to have also wrapped the cord around his neck
Tool Time!
Great video brother
It sounds just like the studio album.
lost keys + rosetta stoned
do the bonus hidden track version with Faaip De Oiad layered on top of lost keys. it is the best way to listen to this song. just search for rosetta stoned hidden track.
Just found your channel! i like it! subbed
The fun thing with this song is that a lot of people go "that's one of the heaviest Tool has ever played" by 5:35ish into your video.
And then they actually go really fucking heavy at 5:40.
I hate to burst your bubble but this recording is, without a doubt, the studio version.
seeing them live...is THE experience. This was an alright version, but it definitely wasn't live, like you said. nice amalgamation of illegally recorded concert clips with the tweaked studio track. The solo sounded exactly the same in this version, and he always changes it up just a little bit live, the first silent break is always longer and an unexpected time when played live, and sometimes they extend that outro, basically, it's always different live, while sounding amazing.
u need to see them live
I do!
If u never watched tool play just look up Danny playing along to Rosetta stoned at a drum clinic
1st, llove the. Tool vids, right in two is what u want. Check it jim
Jim you HAVE to do a "Pneuma (Live Drum cam)" video. There is no other choice, you must.
*MUST REACT*
You remind me of a more positive version of Total Biscuit but for music. Nice vid!
And it's in Norwegian Iambic Pentameter
Peter Frampton talk boxin 😁🤘
Should be noted that red and yellow lights keep flashing. Reference to Lateralus.
Listen to the actually live version of Pushit from the Salival live album.
Sprinkle in some A Perfect Circle. You might already be aware that its our good friend Malards other band. I recommend A Perfect Circle - Orestes. Also about his mother somewhat.
The song is also in Iambic pentameter
That audio is the album version
Jim, I having a feeling you maybe attending the next tool tour when they drop their next album which apparently coming soon.
Record's get released in spring so may or April of 2019 would be the earliest. Wouldn't doubt 2020 tho
The story about the song being called Jambi is halfway true at least. I think it was Adam the guitar player who mentioned that the riff sounded like the chant of Jambi from the TV series.
But as far as the lyrical content goes I don't think it is inspired by that because it is more or less a song about love I would say
You know what, I've seen them live 2 weeks ago and they sound even better than this. It was an amazing experience, in both ways, audio and visual. Absolutly amazing performance.
Whats up man !!!, this is not live presentation, me había ilusionado compadre
Hello Jim, cheers from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Can you please do a live reaction from No quarter live video back in the 90’s! Cover from Led Zeppelin and hard to understand (Cuz is Zeppelin!!) but this time when cover (at least in my own POV) is better than original. Either way pretty good job so far with the reactions. 👏🏻👏🏻
"Jack Luminous"-- Voivod
Maynard did a video with David bowie. You might want to check it out. Bring me the king of the disco king.
Jim first off I want to say, I really love your vids. It’s really cool seeing someone with a good understanding of music and performance checking this stuff out. Next time you do a live reaction might I suggest something around ‘96-1998 time frame? This was a VERY good era for live Tool. 2006-2016 was kind of on the meh side. Maynard put a LOT into his early performances and recordings so he has had to compensate his voice in the later years live. If I may suggest one, this is a cover they do of a peach song with a guest guitarist but the performance is amazing. ruclips.net/video/FGOlcAwXhcs/видео.html
Hey Jim, Do You Feel Like We Do by Peter Frampton if you want to hear some more excellent use of that voice box guitar instrument. Need to do the full version though, like 14 minutes long. He's pretty good tho, do it in your off time
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
I have a hard time believing this is mixed because after 40 years Rush sounded the exact same. But there are some prerecorded background chorus
Try Pushit live. Amazing
right in two next then :)
Thanx man but Rishloo plzz
Agreed. Scissor lips is fantastic
