I think part of being broke is lack of financial literacy. Parents or school didn't really educate. We just learn how to manage as we grow .Thank you for sharing 😊
Not always true. My parents were extremely good with their finances, though they lived poor, because all extra money they made was for retirement because I'm from a country with no pensions. My father was constantly talking about Roth IRAs and investments, things like that. And yet, I was poor, poorer than they ever were. I wasn't able to get a job that paid more than enough to barely pay for rent let alone save and invest. I was terrified of debts, so I really tried to avoid them, but I always had roommates because I could never afford my own place. I finally got a job in my mid-30s in a different country where I was able to save money and live on my own, but I couldn't invest, and you want to know why? I'm a US citizen, and the laws over finance and investing for US citizens living abroad is extremely restrictive, extremely. And I'm an immigrant now. I'm not allowed to have a Roth IRA, not allowed, because I would have to make a salary more than $100,000 a year to contribute to one while living abroad, and I'm not allowed to have certain foreign investments. So the US government wants its citizens living abroad to remain poor. I'm not explaining this well. I mean it already sucks that US citizens abroad still have to file taxes even though we have no representation in government, we also have to declare all our foreign accounts to the financial crimes enforcement department if our overseas accounts are more than $10,000 total!! That's NOTHING money when you're trying to save and build a life and a nest egg.

Growing up in the west, the education system never taught us how to really make money, pay bills or even file for taxes either lol 😂Why are they hiding such basic but crucial information?! They make us go to college/uni and then so many people end up with student debt 😭We need to know how to be more efficient with money whether it's making it or saving it :(

😊 I like your points of views. Money should not be considered priority of life. There are a lot more priorities which stays above the money despite that sometimes we do not understand or forget that importance. Specially in the west were people are hanged out of loans, mortgages. But Im pretty sure beleiving in Tehuid that Allah is EL Mukit, EL Basit, helps a lot moving the focus from money and enjoying the life in a quality sense. I like your simplicity and humbleness. You are exactly a Muslim.

This is a real issue we are dealing with.
It has to do what we were thought about money in our childhood.
What is helping me now is to work on the beliefs we have about money and reprogram the subconscious.

Somali girls life story (being broke) ✋🏽 😂 but the thing is we are always supporting our families as long as we are not married ones you find a job you’re automatically a money machine I’ve seen this a lot in my Somali community ,i work with arabs,Indians,Filipinos and they always brag about saving money because they I’ve been taught to do so from young age.

@@thepersonaofgracesome people have gut issues and inflammation with milk and dairy products. That is because cows today are in poor conditions and are being fed a poor diet (corn,soy,grains) as opposite to how cows should roam freely and eat from vegetation and greenery. The milk in stores comes from big industrial farms that treat cows like machines, keep them locked, give them medication & antibiotics etc.

Noo but when i was in kindergarten i used to go the bus stop at 5:30 am like i was literally 6 in pre unit lol but to be fair my school was somehow far
wueh let me not even start with how from such a young age we used to get beaten by teachers because we are not academically smart and carry a whole bag of homework from almost every subject daily yaani shule was nothing but trauma i hated school sooo much.
Nakwambia, lakini Alhamdulillah we passed that…may Allah heal us from our traumas wallahy

The Kenyan system of education is that of the colonial system which was installed in kenya by the whites intentionally and not only in kenya but almost in all east african countries - with an intention to make them job seekers but not creators - so it's all by design sister - do not blame the kenyan government and it will take years to change all that

Set aside at least 20% of your monthly earnings for savings and investments or rainy day money. God willing, if you are able to keep the saved money untouched you might be able to make a down payment on a house soon. The stability of having and owning your own home is important and feels nice. 😊

The idea of constantly in a state of scarcity and saying I'm broke sina pesa really messed us up. Living my 2nd half of my life in the west I have seen the difference between Kenya and the US. Money is a tool...
