Army: "We cant meet our recruiting quota, lets force people out of retirement." I bet that really will help with recruiting new people. Here's an idea, why not treat your veterans and enlisted members better so more people would be willing to join?
They are going to be filling leadership billets. They are not seeking privates. This is not addressing the recruiting issue. Nobody wants a top heavy Army. They need the knowledge and experience for units that will be stood up from scratch. The Army will likely pull current leaders into the new units and bring in leaders from the retirement list to back fill. These guys will likely just need a small bit of time to be brought up to speed.
Until the President declares a National Emergency at the Resolution of Congress or he asks for a Declaration of War and Congress passes it, Retirees cannot be recalled involuntarily to active duty. Under certain circumstances, the President can authorize the voluntary recall of retirees. There is a limit on the numbers and any retiree brought on active duty for over 30 days counts against the authorized end strength of the service recalling the retiree. As previously posted, if you are retired, you cannot be PERMANENTLY promoted beyond your retired rank, but you can be temporarily promoted or receive a brevet so that you can serve in a position appropriate to your skills and leadership. Your time in service is recalculated with the new active service, so if you do three years and you haven't maxed out your TIS and TIR on the pay scale, you could more retirement pay.

What the Army should offer for "volunteers" is to continue to pay Retired Pay, AND, Full Pay and benefits if "Volunteered" by the Government to return to Active Duty. That would only be Right.

Right now it's basically a volunteer basis, but we all know the Military has a sense of humor. All of this paperwork to submit will soon be eliminated and will be streamlined to just orders. Just like the Iraq surge when the IRR was called up. They got orders to report to Fort Jackson for the two weeks inprocessing and basic refresher. It was basically a mini MEPS for the IRR. Medical, dental, finances, S1, Drill and ceremony, uniform issues, etc. Then they got their orders to the units.
If a letter comes, don't answer it. If random people ask "are you so an so" say no. If they can't serve you the recall means nothing. I got called up on R&R in 04, like an idiot I showed up. Most people never showed up and nothing happened to them because they were never properly served. It was close to 40something muldoons that reported to Benning in my group. The group size was supposed to be around 200. Absolutely nothing happened to the ones that didn't show up. It was all over the news. They threatened to stop GI bills, change your honorable discharge to a dishonorable discharge, have you reported as AWOL and arrested, etc. It was all bullshit.
This video made me LOL, literally. Can you imagine appearance of a group of over 40 year olds getting off the bus to return to active duty? Many of us are overweight and have some kind of health issue. The supply system would need to order so many plus sized uniforms and extra large web gear. MRD is a Mandatory Retirement Date. For instance, Warrant Officer are limited to 30 years of Federal Service. So if you served 27+ years you cannot be recalled as the 2-3 years would exceed your MRD. Peace.
The army should take a good look at the USMC and copy their homework on how to present itself and recruit. Stop changing the uniform every 10 years, stick to the pink and greens, looks hella good with the WWII look. Stick to the OCP for a good while. Stick to the 'fuck you, YOU want to be a soldier, prove yourself' Look at the Royal Marine Commando recruitment. Stop woke shit. Do it in that order.
This appears to be a voluntary program that allows retirees to come back on AD to potentially pump up their retirement pay. This doesn’t sound like they’re talking about recalling them involuntarily. A retiree would have to locate an appropriate position listing on Tour of Duty and then contact the hiring authority to volunteer for the position. The hiring command then has to request you for the position by name. Tour of Duty is essentially Indeed for the Army.
I'm 49 years old. For the last three years, I've been getting recruiting pitches from my former USMC, approximately every 6 months. I have NO IDEA why, but it does make me wonder about how desperate they are if they come to me at this age.....

Busted me down from RM3, to RMSA by the time of my "departure". Three Letter Code is HKQ. That said, they'd have to bring back the title "Commodore", hand me Henry Morgan's Hat, and a Stealth Sub. 🫡
I would encourage soldiers in the us military to resign and join the American people to save our country from this tyrannical government before its too late
During the US war with Iraq, a former army Ortho surgeon nearing retirement in civilian practice was reactivated and sent to the front lines. He sat in a medical tent in the middle of a pitched tank battle and watched the battle swirl around him and his small staff. Fortunately, everyone was fine after the battle, except for the enemy. In times of extreme circumstances and shortages of trained personnel, anything is possible.
“You better come back if we call you….oh and lemme see if you’re overweight in retirement.”😂 So my retirement would stop, my VA disability would stop, and I’d lose the income from my current job, and get standard active duty pay? And I’m not even eligible for promotion!? After I’ve done my time and earned my blue ID card? Ha!! Kick rocks!!
So just pilots and other critical positions and if you were hot sh*t enough that the unit remembers who the f**k you are so they can request you by name, most people b*t*hing and moaning about it have nothing to worry about.
Martial Law. And by whom? For what reason. Trump already has adversarial foreign interests looking to pry in and skew the election in his favor as Trump idolizes despots and creates favorable policy towards authoritarian nations. Biden just can't, the military doesn't take martial law requests. They didn't do it for trump when he brought it to the table a few months before the election and the chief of staff had to tell him he protects the interests of the constitution, not of the president. As for Biden there would be zero political or practical gain from declaring martial law as anything he does to Trump would only galvanize his following, and create martyrs. This would undermine the effectiveness of anything he did if attempted something that ridiculously stupid.
Perspective from a retired mustang. This will be VERY difficult to execute. Why? Many retirees are injured from GWOT, service, combat or BOTH. We cannot pass an admission physical. VA Disability CAN override HRC directives dependent on condition. If HRC is so bureaucratically stupid to elect recall a 60-100% Disabled veteran, good luck. If you want us THAT badly, be prepared to make us trainers as was done in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. We already fought two wars, and some three, not to mention peacekeeping operations and revolutions in the past 30 years.

I remember when they did something similar in the early years of GWOT. I knew a few guys who got out of the Marine Corps and came back to fill unrelated billets so they would not get recalled and get deployed to Iraq.
The recall is because no one is joining
People aren't joining or staying because of shitty leadership. That's why I throw the uniform down. Also nobody wants to go to war these days.
Because they pay shit and treat solider like shit and benefit are not that good
So, stop-loss with extra steps?

Army: "We cant meet our recruiting quota, lets force people out of retirement." I bet that really will help with recruiting new people.
Here's an idea, why not treat your veterans and enlisted members better so more people would be willing to join?
Because that would make sense and the only thing the current military knows how to do is use the stick and never the carrot.

So they will take away your retirement pay and your disability pay then force you back to full duty no matter how disabled you are. All this because you are so desperately needed, but not so desperately needed that they will pay you more money or promote you for forcing you away from your family. Sounds totally reasonable to me.
They'll be wheeling us wounded warriors in to man staff duty in wheelchairs.
Yeah they can’t even supply reenlistment bonuses rn. What a joke.
What the Army should offer for "volunteers" is to continue to pay Retired Pay, AND, Full Pay and benefits if "Volunteered" by the Government to return to Active Duty. That would only be Right.
if they called me back id bring none of the forms and would ask for a drug test first so i can fail that right away

Do they really want retirees who have read and understand the Constitution of the United States of America? The malicious compliance among the ranks will be epic! I, personally, will need orthopedic combat boots and a knee brace for walking long distances.

The army should take a good look at the USMC and copy their homework on how to present itself and recruit.
Stop changing the uniform every 10 years, stick to the pink and greens, looks hella good with the WWII look.
Stick to the OCP for a good while.
Stick to the 'fuck you, YOU want to be a soldier, prove yourself'
Look at the Royal Marine Commando recruitment.
Stop woke shit.
Do it in that order.
A lot of people retired because they don’t like the direction of the government. Change the policies.
Aint nobody going, so it dont matter what they want

@@AbuHajarAlBugatti I ain't old... haven't even hit 40 yet (got several years to go) I am medically retired army
@AbuHajarAlBugatti and that is another reason for me to have disdain toward our government's ethos in using people when their policies created the bad morale in the first place.
Bad morale was the goal.

Getting ready for Marshall law before the election in November...can anyone say election interference...
That is entirely possible.

Recalls would be for specific positions. They're not going to recall a 65 year old E-6 rifleman. They may recall a 65 year old surgeon.
