- Sounds noticeably different to the regular version. I wonder why they couldn't get the openings songs in the game to play over fights.
UNIST still has the best openings with End of Dawn and Unknown Actor in terms of song AND visuals. This song did grow on me though and I can't be too angry with the opening visuals because of minimal art assets, you get to live this time Nitro+. Would I place this over Yaten no Ori and False Infinite Parallel? I just might. Thousands in the Scarlet Darkness as an OP begins immediately with the chorus and doesn't get any build up so it's a bit unfair to compare it with the others.

not a bad song imo, terrible op animation unfortunately. probably because of the new guy handling it
Unless it was a new guy at Nitro+ too, they didn't have that many art assets to work with to make something that creative. Maybe the DLC characters will also release with some brand new key art.
Also didn't help that we saw pieces of the opening spread across all the trailers.

@@Meetwad You say that but every opening before this had more creative animation and was probably made with even less money.
This opening itself is actually within the game files, alongside the UNIst and UNIcl-r opening.
All the old UNIST/CLR themes are also in the files for some reason
@PotentiallySky potentially we might be able to choose the old music in the future I hope but I doubt it than again they added subtitles in the game so maybe
Yeah wait, you're right, this sounds like a different mix to what you hear in the opening. I was bummed too, I wanted to listen to this and old openings during fights but we only can listen to the character themes.
Im a fan of this recording because it’s the full song, but this mix has a lot less “range of depth” with the basses. So much less that imo, it really hinders the (very) awesome ensemble playing throughout, but particularly at 2:50-3:04. This mix is much drier in that section and the final four hits going into the final chord is weaker with a more basic sounding D minor voicing, meanwhile the original was more rich with the pronounced bass and you can really hear the chord extensions so much better ( still has the minor sound, but the B flat in the bass is so clear you can hear it’s actually a Bb Major 7th ending). That gives it way better finality in my book. This version is still solid too tho.

You know, after many relistens and some more analysis, I have come to really enjoy this mix as well. The vocal clarity really shines in this version and her lines really “sit on top” of everything else that’s happening in the song. Good balance, and I think I get what they were going for with this version. I just wish they also had a longer version of the older mix as well.
