    I know this video is a couple of years old, but it's useful. I just bought this lens on a good deal for $429 new with the collar thrown in from Adorama. Just bought the Tap for it as well which by the way can be purchased with the lens for $399 in a different bundle. I'll be using this lens on my Z6 and Z7II for paid portrait work and landscapes for fun.

    Late to commenting, but have been looking at this lens, and it’s available right now as a ‘Holiday Special,’ so have been checking out reviews. Yours is one of the more useful and informative I have run across!
    Nothing wrong with F4 zooms, but it would seem that Tamron as well as others do put more into the construction of their respective 2.8 zooms? I recently rented a SP 70-200 f2.8 G2, and used it on a pro body, and Man oh Man, was it heavy or what? No issues with focusing, and the optical stabilization was very very good.
    Many fail to realize that it is only one stop between f2.8 and f4.0. In most cases, this will not be a deal breaker. However, the faster aperture of f2.8 will better isolate the subject from the background, and will aid in focusing in lower light levels. And of course, certain venues like basketball auditoriums, or reception rooms, will benefit the shooter with a f2.8 zoom. And this is where primes are even better.
    Nice video and informative and well presented. Appreciate the lack of ‘jarring’ music in the background. Stay safe and Healthy! Happy Shooting! Best 👍👍👍✌🏻😁📷

    On which camera are you using it? I am planning to get it for my EOS R6, but I'm not sure how well it would perform with the adapter.

      I've used it on the original EOS R, the RP, and a little bit on the R6. Because it has such a good motor it's nice on all of the above.

    Hi, question: which one would you choose between the tamron 70-210 vs Canon 70-200 f4 IS (mark I) ?
    I really cannot decide which to buy...I can find both at around the same price...
    Thank you :)

      Sorry it took so long to respond, been away from RUclips for a while. Definitely the Tamron. Faster, newer, sharper.

    Great review!!! I own a nikon 80-200 f2.8 push pull and its heavyweight and slow af on my d750.... Do you think this tamron is as sharp or sharper over the 80 200?

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  4 года назад +1

      I would argue sharper. And definitely faster than the 80-200.

    • @georgedavall9449
      @georgedavall9449 2 года назад +1

      Not so well, from what I understand? Seems to be ‘tailored’ more for full frame sensor cameras. And it seems to perform a bit better with Nikon, and the focus and zoom turn the same as Nikon. I’m just echoing other online creators opinions. YMMV. Best 👍✌🏻📷

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  5 лет назад +4

      Great question. I just shot with both this lens and the canon 70-200 f/4 IS II and I'm a little torn. I found the Canon to produce too warm of a color tone and the Tamron to be more accurate and I felt the Tamron had the better defocused background. On the other hand, I had an easier time with really crisp detail on the Canon. I'd be tempted to buy the Tamron, weighing all these factors, but the detail on the Canon is fantastic. If I compare to any of the older Canon variants I would definitely go Tamron. It's only the most recent Canon version that really scored high in detail reproduction. Hope that helps.

      @marioplus321 5 лет назад +1

      @@CameraLessonsOnline surely u did saying comparing 2 older versions , of that I mentioned f4 usm , not the latter with IS. So it must b Tamron that I grasp in my hands , thx Buddy!

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  5 лет назад +3

      I'm sorry, I misspoke before. There is one older version of the IS Canon and the one non-IS and yes, I would have the Tamron over either of those. I would only be torn deciding between the Tamron and the newer Canon IS f/4. Sorry for the confusion, but my recommendation remains the same.

      @@CameraLessonsOnline The colour wouldn't be so much an issue because it could easily be tweaked in post. I don't shoot Canon but if the results are even close I would love to get the Tamron for my D850 I couldn't really afford the Nikon version and the 2.8 versions are too heavy and big for my liking.
