In my case, it does. Something about a physical book (especially if it's large and bulky) makes picking it up to start reading intimidating/a chore. And the Kindle app on phone and tablet is buried deep under all the more "exciting" apps, not to mention distraction while reading and getting a notification. I'm finishing up a physical book that I bought but avoided in reading, on the Kindle now. :)
I was an avid reader as a child. Then I fell off the book wagon and became addicted to my phone, video games, tv etc. Picked up a kindle and now I read sometimes up to 2 books a day depending on how much free time I have. So yeah it made me read more. And the fact that it shows me how much I have left of the chapter and book is such an encouragement. I’m always like okay a few more minutes in this chapter… okay one more chapter … and boom the book is suddenly ending.
Great review! I've owned my Kindle Paperwhite for a week and I love it. I'd tried reading on a iPad mini but it's too heavy and inconvenient but the Kindle is so lightweight and getting a pop socket for it was a game changer. I still love my physical books and audiobooks when I'm driving or shopping but it's so easy to pull out the Kindle waiting at the doctor's office.
A real game changer! When I leave my house I just tap my pocket to see if I have the Kindle, even if I don't plan to read its small and lightweight as you said so it never feels inconvenient just to carry!
I am Team Paperback, but I think I will be getting the new Kindle just because some books are not available in print. New sub, keep your videos coming)
I was sold when tokini Andy recommended the paper white for intermediate level language learners since it has a built in dictionary. It can help you expand your vocabulary and do quick lookup of words you aren’t familiar with
Great review. I adore reading love physical books as you say, smell, feel, art work however my kindle fulfills my fast reading and so easy to take everywhere.... I am still usi g the very first basic kindle it just keeps going would I like a new version hell yes but see no point when my old faithful does the job despite being thrown into everybag I have, taken everywhere with no cover not a scratch on it. Have I abandoned physical books nope I save buying them for special books either specific series, standalone or the odd one that takes my eye as I browse a bookshop and yes I lo e second hand books but they take up space and need to earn their place around the house. As you highlight their is a place for all my friends go read on your phone or tablet but kindle e readers you can read with no glare in bright light so worth getting to add to devices, as, it is purely a reading device no ping notifications to disturb you
Yep, the portability of the Kindle alongside the lack of glare, notifications, etc make it unbeaten for fast and on the go reading! And yeah newer versions always look appealing but if your basic kindle is solving your needs and doing a great job then stick with it until you need to upgrade. But no I totally agree, books need to earn their place!
Good review. I love my Kindle paperwrite. One of the best features I lke most is not having to go through page after page where I left of last. The Kindle opens exactly to the page I want. If I get bored or don't like the book I purchased I just choose another. Especially when you're at the park or the lake you don't have to carry 4 or 5 physical books. I love selecting the correct size font for ease of reading. One of my best purchases.
What happens when you want to go back to a previous chapter to look up something? Do you have to scroll back page by page or is there like a tab button for chapters?
I adore my kindle but I still buy physical from a bookstore as well. I refuse to allow amazon to take over the book market. As soon as they've taken over they'll jack up the price of ebooks.
I have had a kindle since they came out in 2007. I have had 5 in that period of time and currently use a kindle paperwhite signature edition that i have had for about 2 years. I have read almost 2000 books over the years and have my kindle organized very well. Great for traveling. great to stick in my purse. can check out books from library and audible books from library and read from either my Kindle or myIPAD. I am in my seventies and have increased the font size and changed fonts for easier reading. I am a big reader and the Kindle is great. I advise the Kindle device over a phone or IPAD because there are too many distractions with bigger devices. We are downsizing at our age and getting rid of physical books is less painful. My husband and I use our Kindles every day. there are improvements I would make..ie just a bit bigger . Agree it won’t magically make you a bit reader but it helps. The fact that I can even download academic articles is great. But they are definitely not for everyone. my kids love physical books and so do grandkids.
If you're wondering which one to get, Paperwhite or the normal one, just get whichever that's on sale. You wouldn't know the difference unless you have them both.
You want your books out on show? Why? They're aesthetically pleasing? When books are on a bookshelf, there's not much to see. Unless it's for show for when people come over to give a false representation of yourself.
idk why but my battery runs out so fast like I thought it supposed to last like for a week of reading, but I read like 4 books/4 days, it jumped from 100 to 40%
That would take up a lot of battery life. Also make sure that the kindle is set to airplane mode, when it's not the internet takes a lot of the batteries life.
Wouldn't it be nice if Amazon sent me a kindle to review
Where are you from though?
Email them? 😄 Make it happen ✌️

it did for me actually! i go for whatever is convenient and also i like to mark and read the non-fiction ones and sync with notion and readwise 🥸

For me it was magic tho! It’s insane how much more I read with the convenience of the kindle 🤣. We really are just a bunch of lazy bums
Haha! I guess thats the real positives of technology, sometimes that little bit of convenience can be a huge benefit!

I've only read a bit of Meditations but I look forward to reading more!
how do you have so many views on your fourth video? needless to say you've got a sub from me lol
I was rather surprised by the views on this video myself, I guess people are very much into Kindle's!

Can you sideload books you already have? I have some mobi pr pdfs already which I would want to read on a Kindle.

How long your battery lasts will depend on usage. If you read 4 books in 4 days then it will definitely eat up that battery.
That is quite a lot of usage! I assume these books are of average size so unless you speed read I can imagine you using it for a lot of hours per day
@@DarnellSylvain not really tbh, maybe ~400 pages and it's like ~5-6 hours per day, but I don't think it's too much
