Welcome back to Kels and John and to a day in the life vlog covering something a little different to do in the central Florida area! We recently spent the day driving the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive which took us on a self-guided tour of a nature reserve where we got to see lots of gators and various types of birds in the wild Florida nature! From the wildlife drive, we stumbled across the Stanley Pond Adventure Farm (links below!) where we went sunflower picking - such a fun outdoor activity!

I love your Florida adventure vlogs! Penny is such a treat as always, She's a natural born hollywood pup, i'm telling you!! I’ve always been told to be very wary of any freshwater in Florida, as alligators could be present. Don’t want to scare you but remember a few years ago a little boy was taken by an alligator after paddling in the water near Grand Floridian? It’s scary - I’d def keep Penny away from the water! Love your videos guys, this was really nice 👍

It was such a fun day! We really lucked out seeing so many gators and we didn’t even film all of them! I’m with you, it was comforting to be in the safety of our car that’s for sure. Sunflowers are my fave too! 🌻

I love this vlog
Actually alligator in Florida are pretty regulated at least in a size sense. If you notice no alligator is over six feet in size as those end up what we call trouble gators. They end attacking pets and ducks and whatever they fit their jaws around. We call the wildlife patrol or the gator trappers for them. The gator ends up as meat and skin for leather goods or at gatorland or similar park to boost their alligator population which is a pretty quiet life. It’s what we do. We actually know exactly where gators are most of the time. Wekiwa has one in the lake, lake lotus has a giant one that’s left alone, gatorland has some many, and I think Gainesville has one in the swamp. Alligators are ambush specialists and if you dodge the initial strike they instantly give up as their nature. If it’s a repeat attacker likely there is a nest nearby and it’s simply a mom defending its nesting sites. Don’t worry about it as you don’t see alligators too often here.
There are gators in just about very body of freshwater in Fl., the state currently has a population of 1.25 million alligator. Most sightings happen during mating season when they move around other bodies of water looking to breed. That's usually how they end up in suburban swimming pools. I grew up in South Florida where gators were an every day thing. Now in North Central FL, I see them at least weekly - in small ponds, canals and the occasional retention pond.

Study a bit of Japanese flower arrangement it’s actually pretty good as you focus on one or two flowers not designing something. You might want to use large flowering branches as a winter arrangement to say spring is coming. Trust me the Japanese do flowers so different than the rest of the world. It’s pretty but not overwhelming as you focus on one thing or empty space.
Loved th3 vlog - I thought you guys had forgotten about us ! But there is something not quite right about a full English breakfast in th3 florida sunshine but then I am a British and I am jealous!
Never! Ha I’m with you there but it’s been too long since I’ve been able to come home - this is my go-to spot for those home comforts!

Something I’ve always wanted to do in Central FL is the bioluminescence kayaking. It looks amazing but we are never there at the right time of year. Sorry, I’m not sure what town it is in, but you can look it up online. Also....oh my gosh Penny is still so adorable ☺️

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! We saw about 12 gators when we were there. If you’re looking for a getaway, I’d recommend Melbourne beach and Kennedy Space Center :)

Thankyou for sharing some more places to visit when we can eventually come back over, we have done a similar wildlife drive further down South once but didn’t see as many alligators 🐊 but there were lots of raccoons which we thought were adorable 🦝. Stay safe both of you 😀🇬🇧❤️xx

What a fun day, loving the sunflower farm, would love that. I'd love for you to go to Kennedy space centre one day. I loved it when I've been, some parts are quite emotional but to see the shuttle in real life was amazing. I hope you're both well 💜
