- I thought I would make a quick video to give you an update on my new workshop and go over the progress that I've made so far. I plan on using the space for woodworking and metalworking. Most of the shop is complete but there are still a few things to be done. I will do an official shop tour later in the year after adding new dust collection and getting things organized. Thanks for watching!
Here is a link to the lights that I used in the new shop (Affiliate)

Since a few people have asked for the cost of the shop, here is a rough breakdown of the build (So far). I'm sure prices would be different for other parts of the country/world
Building permits =$500
Concrete slab = $4500
Metal building (installed) = $9600
Electric service = $2400
Closed cell spray foam insulation = $3000
HVAC (Craigslist find) = $350
Plywood, screws and paint (So far) = $500
Total = $20,850
(Carolina Carports 20ftwx40ftLx9ft tall walls, 2 roll up doors, 1 entry door, upgraded from 140mph to 180mph wind rating.)

Thanks! This has been on my list for long time! Now I dont have to wait until 10 or 11 to start working in the shop. With the garage I had to wait for my wife and kids to wake up
I could only dream of a shop that size. Nice
Mate, what a fantastic workshop. Very very envious. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of it. Keep them coming buddy.

Awesome bro. Congratz.

Awesome man! Congrats! Makin me jealous lol
Self tapping screws are not designed to go through wood. If you pre drill the wood it will make it go smoother. Looks nice. Great job.
Nice Shop 👍😀

Any shop that you build with your own hands is a sweet one!
Nice work, man
Thanks!
Greetings from NY!
It's funny this just popped up in my feed.
I literally just ordered those same led lights for my shop yesterday. :-)
Great job, and stay safe down there!
Those lights work well. I haven't had one fail yet. I hope you are doing well. It looks pretty bad up there.
The lighting is great !! Even better ,cheap ..looking to build a garage / shop and I was going to build it my self with lumber and I'm so happy I paused and looked into these metal buildings ..I'm definitely going with the metal and sit back and have a couple beers while someone else slaps it up into place lol ..nice shop ..
Thanks! I am glad I went with the metal building. I wish I would have added some windows though. Maybe later
Very nice shop! I am in the process of shopifying my garage and decided to install a sub-panel and outlets as well as insulate the walls for a mini-split AC. To cover the walls up I decided to drywall them... which I never done before. An entire month later, I'm just now starting to wrap things up. There were so many days of going into the shop and wanting to just tear down the drywall and put up plywood or paneling... good choice man!
Thanks. I hate drywall. I have tried a couple times to put it up and it never turns out good for me.
I guess it's more that drywall hates me!
Nice shop man, life is good
Thanks. Life is good!
Hey Dave, mate this is a great looking workshop & the AC will be awesome, I presume it’s as hot & humid as our tropics in Australia. I can’t wait to see your future projects, cheers buddy 🎥🎥🔨🔨👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Yea. I couldn't make it out there in the summer. The humidity and mosquitos are brutal!
That's awesome!!
where does the reeftank system go? lol
Thanks man! It's my new fish room! Lol
@@TwistedWorkshop77 LOL...good times!
Superb =o)
Thanks!
Looks great, I had my shop built by the same company last year in Orlando , still haven’t got around to getting the electrical, spray foam and a/c, hopefully this year.
Thanks! Insulation and AC are must have down here. I'm just down the road in Melbourne. I hope you get it done this year!
Nice shop! I'm down near the Gainesville/High springs area; I've been looking into Quonset hut buildings for their hurricane resistance (to set up some shops on my land).
Cool. I never thought about a quonset hut. Sounds like a good option though
Dave...fantastic building you got there! You should get some real mileage out of it!
Thanks! I cant wait to start building in it.
If your boat could talk I think its saying,"WTF! I thought that was for me!." Turned out awesome. Good luck.
Thanks and your right about the boat. It is feeling a little neglected right now
nice!!! I am jealous
Thanks!
This is really quite outstanding in every respect!
A beautiful, tall and spacious workshop atop it's new, sealed base, superbly insulated and reinforced with the closed cell foam application, which, as I watched I found myself thinking that plywood sheets on the interior would be absolutely perfect... But you'd got that covered, figuratively and literally!
Your lighting was exceptionally good, really impressive stuff, apart from my repeatedly thinking that you really should be using a taller ladder (that's an observation, not a criticism!).
Great idea to retain your original workshop tools and equipment layout as you're completely tuned into that positioning!
Good idea to invest in your optical and respiratory systems by upgrading your dust extraction capabilities, as life especially needs them to be happy systems!
I'm really happy for you that after all your investment and hard work you can finally get set up and appreciate your beautiful new workshop!
You should post it on Garage Journal.
Thank you for sharing your terrific video, viewers worldwide are delighted and inspired at seeing your superb workshop come into being!
Thank you. We get a lot of hurricanes where I live so hopefully it holds up to the high winds. Using the closed cell foam is like gluing the structure together. I agree about the ladder. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
What beautifull place. Greeting from Patagonia ARgentina
Thanks!
5:26 lil lizard came in lol, nice shop
Lol. It looks like little Jurassic park around here
Looks awesome! It looks bigger than 800 sq ft in the video
Thanks! I think it wont look so big once I get more of my metal working stuff and assembly table in
Nice to see someone from Florida! the heat killed me when I tried to build some stuff in my garage. I grew up near Daytona but I live in North Georgia now so it's a lot more manageable. Mind if I ask about how much this set you back?
Thanks! That Georgia heat is no joke during the summer! I put a cost breakdown in the bottom of the description since a few people asked for it.
I dig it.
Do you mind sharing how much a shop like that costs? Slab, structure, insulation, electrical, a/c, etc. That would be very informative.
Thanks! I might make a video on this later in the year when I am finished but until then I just added a cost breakdown at the bottom of the description since a few people have asked.
Great space and well made honest video. If I have a criticism it's that the roof space foam finish will be hard to clean and you may get bugs making nests in the folds of the expanded foam insulation - Florida = more bugs...
Thanks! Your right about the bugs. The gaps between the roll up doors and walls are pretty big and wasps are already coming in looking for a place to nest
5:27 shop lizard mascot.
That is a great looking shop build. I am curious as to how the spray on insulation is doing, and if you have any moisture after this length of time. Would like to see how you have your shop laid out now.
