Yeah, well ... my A51 (SM-A515F) does *NOT* enter in the reset mode ! After pressing power + vol.up, and release the buttons when the logo appears (just as you did here), it simply enters into normal operating mode !

Make sure you connect it to a PC, I had that problem until I connected it to a PC

Dont mater how long i press Power and Volume up... it always boot normal and dont load the recovery menu

The only thing youbdont show is when people buy this phone you cant get further than the license because it says you did a unauthorized reset. So if anyone bought a phone second hand they can throw it away because its rendered useless unless you can get rid of the data

It was not working for me, but then I connected to another device using a cable, performed the steps again and kept holding the volume up key after switching buttons. Held it until the reset screen showed up. Smooth sailing from there.

The procedure works, but while installing the phone it prompts for the original password / pattern or gmail account. So now I am stuck. The person who the phone belonged to, doesn't know either.

As usual what works for everyone else doesn't work for me. Yes it's an A51, I have an IT degree and I used to work as a technician.
What's missing is the instructoion to have the 'phone plugged in to a PC or similar. This is what Samsung does.
