- For this holiday I made myself a new set of square placemats for my table. I made them square as I tend to run out of room at the table during the holidays. I hope you all enjoy the video! Happy Holidays & Thank You for watching!

Love your colourful machine, how have you managed to cover it? Love your place mats as well. Looks like I will be getting my machine out!
Jenny N I hand painted my machine :) I'm glad you like it and my placemats!
how did you cover your sewing machine I would love to cover my machine like that☺👏💐
Mary Munro She paints it.
I agree, there is never no room for placemats. what type of bobbin do you use ?
Sandie Sepulveda I use matching thread in the bobbin.
thank you.
Hi! What type of fabric have you used as the base? Anything special or is it just something you liked?
I used an upholstery fabric as the base material and it has held up well through many washings :)
I’m thinking about buying a new machine. What kind do you have?
I like to say, you don't buy a sewing machine, you marry a dealer. First, find a dealer that teaches and will support you in a positive manner so you're likely to get full use. That said, the machine in this video is the Baby Lock Crescendo model and it is delightful. Enjoy your purchase and Merry Christmas!🎄
Hi Clare, I don't recognize the foot you're using. Could you please explain a bit more about it. What's it called and which machine does it fit? I have a Janome Horizon 7700 set into a table. Will it fit this machine and where can I get those cool plastic hoops? Thanks for your wonderful video's. You're a great teacher! :)
Oh, I was actually asking about the foot you used for that clever blanket stitch, not the embroidery foot...
Carol Wood I'm glad you like the project! I used my Creative Feet brand Satinedge foot for the applique Blanket stitch and my Pearls & Piping foot for the Shell Tuck stitch on the edge. The hoops are my Octi-Hoops and all of these can be found at www.creativefeet.com our feet fit all sewing machines with a zigzag stitch, including yours despite the fact that your machine has a 9mm width. You will use our B adapter included with all of our feet to attach it and you can also use all of the older Janome feet on your Horizon with it. 😎
could you please give me any advice for free motion embroidery ,I have tried lowering the feed dogs but cant get my bobbin thread to the top thanks for any advice carol lee
+peter lee #1 cause - Not lowering the presser foot bar. #2 Cause - Not threading the machine with the foot up. If you've done this - remember you only bring the bobbin thread up once - some try to bring it up every thread color change and you only have to bring it up in the beginning of a new stitch out. If you hold the needle thread - then turn the handwheel toward you to bring up the bobbin thread and it doesn't pick up, your machine may be out of time. You can try to lower the needle within the needle bar just a tiny bit - then try picking up the bobbin thread again. If this corrects it, you've likely broken a needle or two and the needle bar has been inching its way up and out of time. Let me know if you continue to have trouble and also, don't hesitate to use a foot if you're nervous about being there with the bare needle. ;)
+Clare Rowley thank you for you're reply I will try again tomorrow and hope I can sort it out thanks carol lee
I really enjoyed this video I have only just discovered you in the uk I'm a little confused as the other videos you haven't used a foot for free machine embroidery but in this video I see you are using a foot please could you explain for me. Many thanks Chris xx
headlessviolin When the fabric is fused it grabs the needle as it exits and causes shredding thread. Therefore, I used a foot on this video. When you don't use spray adhesive or fusible batting I find it's better without a foot. :)
