  • This was a more challenging Test Loop for FSD Supervised.
    Needs some more polishing to be able to handle this but noticed a lot of improvements since the last time I attempted this.

    17.47 I think FSD did the right/considerate thing to keep to the left most lane because although the center lane is for left turn and driving straight , it is good to leave it for car that want to go straight. Also if you look at the right most lane, it is for right turn only. So leaving the center lane for car that want to go straight is the right thing to do.

    3:51 reason for the late lane change is clearly that it knew that there are two left turn lanes and that it wanted to be in the right one of them. But as soon as it saw the right arrow on the road, it knew it was in the wrong lane.

      @@RubenKelevra FSD cannot analyze and react to *unfamiliar* situations on the road. Plenty of RUclips reviews make that abundantly clear. FSD has the smarts of a donkey. Or a dairy cow.
      A human driver, with human brain and years of experience, can adapt to anything on the road. No problem.

    Thanks for the video James, I can see the improvements over 12.4.1. You were correct in taking over when there was that Lexus and it cut across lanes in the turn. I have seen other videos where FSD cuts the lane whilst turning but without a car there; I was suspicious it would get this wrong, as you have discovered.

    10:11 I think the map was fine. The route just started on the road, not on the parking lot. So the map wouldn't follow the route and rotate, as you're not on the highlighted route, but off to the side. The arrow turned and moved properly.

    Nice. One thing though, the camera's focus seems to be on the screen, the road would be better (or somewhere a bit in front of the car so both distance look OK. The road ahead looks blurry vs the screen.

    On 12.3.6 I have found that whenever there’s a double left-turn lane, it always takes the rightmost one, regardless of whether the following turn will be left or right. Has that also been your experience?

    13:25, it really shouldn't have changed lane until it had passed the entrance where the other vehicle was coming out, safer and would have allowed them to move sooner potentially. But I'm nit-picking. :)

    4:03 I can't wait for the day it finally makes TRULY intelligent decisions like "there are fewer cars in that "left" left turn lane and no big trucks ahead of us there, so I'm going to choose THAT lane instead of the lane with a long line of cars and a slow moving large truck in it". THAT is when it will be humanlike.

    • @glen7567
      @glen7567 2 месяца назад +2

      I'm going to correct myself on this particular situation. After looking further into the video I can see why it made the decision that it did as it needed to make an immediate right. There ARE situations, however, where it still chooses the wrong turn lane when NOT needing to make another immediate turn.

      He didn’t say that. He said 5-10x more miles per intervention. Since most interventions aren’t safety related, the numbers he gave also aren’t safety related. He didn’t define interventions though but undoubtedly most FSD supervisors are often pressing the gas pedal at stops signs, intervening at poor lane changes, etc. so those are the easiest interventions to improve on at this point but they aren’t safety issues.
