    What you see and what is shown on the screen is not what FSD sees. What is shown on the screen is close to what FSD sees in labeled 3D but projected in 2D. You have found a unique senario similar to Chuck Cook's unprotected left turn. First the approach to the "curb" is blind. The right turn lane turns into a cross walk in the intersection and ends in a wheelchair ramp eliminating the "curb" in the lane. The error here is primarily one of incorrect lane section and incorrect crosswalk design. It is not due to failure to recognize a curb since there is no curb in the lane of travel.
    PS: "Supervised FSD" is just another way to say beta "full self-driving".

    • @MikeDCWeld
      @MikeDCWeld 3 дня назад

      But it is clearly marked and signed as a right-turn only lane. All three lanes have good, clear marking and signage. Also, I bet that Google Maps directs drivers to the appropriate lane on approach to the intersection without issue.

      tesla do push out junction/road rules for when the FSD isn't reading the junction correctly, so overrides FSD autopilot and directs it to take say the middle lane or correct incorrect phantom lanes that FSD just keeps on trying to change into
      this looks like one of them Overrides where it's ignoring FSD director (it clearly knows it's in the wrong lane but it's staying in the right lane and ignoring the pavement it clearly can see, when it should be in middle lane (witch it clearly can see, it even sees the road markings)

    What appears to be happening here, from a programming/sensor data analysis point of view is the different markings on the road are so close, the lines don’t have a clear Corner on some of the transitions where it looks like they overpainted part of it, there is a large crosswalk that’s left guide line is very close to the left guideline of the turning lane you’re in. I also think that the reason Teslas curb detection system doesn’t detect the curb is due to the unique slope gradient of that curbs corner. It likely deflects the radar signal at a weird trajectory and it causes the signal data to never get back to the Tesla.

I had two times that I needed to intervene for safety (both in confusing construction zones at night) and once when it was going to turn into the wrong driveway for the Supercharger station. FSD suggested that I change driver profile from Chill to Average which seemed to improve lane change behavior -- changing lanes when appropriate (mostly) and when requested by me. I used it at night and during the day both in areas that I was familiar with and in areas that were unfamiliar. At night, in unfamiliar areas, FSD helped me find where to go when I could not see it plainly with my vision. The oops with finding the Supercharger was critical for me (but not safety critical) since I was arriving with a very low state of charge - 10 miles remaining and I was a little nervous having never had the battery that low in the 3 years I have owned my Model Y.

I have seen your sings about lates they are above the road and a lil weird. If u stay in the right lane its easier for you to be overtaken safely and this isnt an issue. Can you put a camera facing forward next to the sensing camera and upload a video. I’ve worked with this before. Have you ever gotten a windshield replacement or any type of repair to that mirror assembly or anything behind it.
    Also to note as someone who has never been in this intersection before there is poor visibility at least from the angle provided I can’t see the curb on either side
    Another note. It sees 3 directions of one way traffic instead of 2 lanes of oncoming and 1 lane for itself. Display switches the lines as you cross into the intersection.
    It’s very possible your vehicles camera needs a calibration or there is a defect in the glass on the windshield or defect in the mounting. This is an extremely sensitive sensor that simply removing and reinstalling it can mess with a calibration even if nothing was changed. Build quality of the vehicle combined with general misunderstanding of the system by service techs will lead to performance issues.

    • @Full_Self_Driven
      @Full_Self_Driven  3 дня назад

      My car has never been in for service or had any windshield replacement. Maybe a simple recalibration of the cameras could fix it but it’s only ever been an issue at this intersection.

    • @Chipndales
      @Chipndales 2 дня назад

      @@Full_Self_Driven so that’s a good thing! Okay then we can rule out a crappy job. Honestly I would start by trying to recalibrate it, again build quality on the vehicle historically hasn’t been great, but while they are doing the recal they can inspect for defects, it won’t rule out a glass defect those can be very hard to see with the naked eye. Always remember Tesla isn’t a veteran automaker, they are still brand new when you compare them to other manufacturers, eventually they will be as good as any other but you will have teething issues with them until they finally realize it. I went to one of the invite only order parties about a year before they launched the S, they only had the s and the roadster, to this day they haven’t launched it, people were putting money down 12 years ago…it is what it is, ev market would not be where it is without Tesla.

Sadly it's only really when a major crash or death happens due to the software that kicks them in the ass to fix things. Personally I wish 100% of the companies working on self driving cars would go open source for there driving code and map data. Things would be so much farther along if that were the case.
