    Also, this is the full 3 hour long road trip story - we’ll have more bite sized bits of content covering what happened and what we learned coming on the other channels soon - we just didn’t want to break it into multiple parts, so here’s the full thing.
    Thanks for watching as we always try and push the limits with electric vehicles!

    • @Alan-tr5uj
      @Alan-tr5uj 7 месяцев назад

      @@markfitzpatrick6692oh bragging is mandatory. The non-Supercharger charging experience is beyond god awful. Charging a Tesla- taking them on long distance road trips are a delight. People that have to use other charging means need to be aware of just HOW awful EA and others are compared to the average Supercharger experience. Now, on the same token- goto China and experience what they’ve doing with their charging infrastructure in only six years. In that time China has surpassed US charging infrastructure three-fold, and they all work. Likewise, because the infrastructure of so much more robust, EV adoption is substantially higher than in the US.
      It’s embarrassing actually- US politicians are arguing over whether or not a viable nationwide charging network is even possible- meanwhile in that time, China built a large viable charging network, surpassing the US not only in that area, but then in EV sales, and now surpassed the US in EV production. Americans need to demand better from their politicians, and need to stop voting for bullshit artists living in alternate reality.
      I love the “the grid can’t handle it!!”. An EV charging at home at MAX draw @ 240V is between 5,000 to 7,500 watts, and it drops off as the battery charges…. That’s a central AC unit, or heat pump worth of consumption. It’s all bullshit to keep that oil money coming; can’t claim something is not possible when a country with over a billion people accomplished it in six years… China did that with an electric grid in rural areas that’s so rudimentary, it’s silly. 1950s infrastructure- no smart grid in large swaths of China… smh. Meanwhile let’s continue to watch the US get left behind while our politicians whisper sweet nothings/lies into our collective consciousness.

I think the EA infrastructure is a disgrace. With new models coming out, also with 2-3 years of "free" EA charging, there should be some EA accountability. Can the court hold EA accountable since it was part of the VW settlement? I feel that I have paid for the free charging in the purchase of my vehicle. That's the real takeaway that the EV fans won't address. There are indeed advantages to the PHEV. I used to have a PHEV and miss some of the use cases compared to the full EVs I now have.

    Terre Haute is French for High Land but the city is listed at 499ft. Probably not too bad in the middle states. The location was first occupied by Fort Harrison which maybe needed the higher ground above the Wabash River. Nice ride so far, open skies and ground ahead to make time. Cheers.

      Kyle is really bad with town names. He must have failed geography or states and capitals. I would think as many times as he has gone across the usa he can learn the routes were the chargers are and the name of the towns it is not hard.

    Kudos to the Cannonball team for sticking to the CCS1 charger network no matter how bad. I'd be on the Tesla network with that adapter monster from Lutron but it's only a J1772 connection which might get you 11kW if you're lucky. But it wouldn't do for a Cannonball to beat 41hrs so just keep pushing.

    What would you do if chargers are all blocked and your blocker is unsuccessful? I would never let someone block me from charging holding a spot for an incoming EV. First come first serve. Right.

    CCS Charging needs to vastly improve. Which is why I suspect all of the manufacturers are switching to NACS. It needs to be to be as simple as plugging in your phone to a USB charger.

    1:13:04 That Neon unnecessarily went into the median. Truck came over, but not completely. They chose the grass. Thought truck unnecessarily came over (should’ve hit the brakes down to 45 instead of cutting off. I’m a 17 year veteran trucker). Always crazy out.
    & you guys are appreciated. & these companies wonder why EV sales are tanked.

    I think the contribution made by Alyssa, and in part her first companion, is under appreciated in this video. As an EV owner, GV60, I've concluded EVs are good for 90% of most motoring if you can charge at home. But they are not going to save the planet, if it needs saving, and the Lucid repeatedly passing the same vehicle says they're no good for long distances.
