Mass Effect 1 really is the story of Shepherd signing up for as many newsletters and e-mail lists as possible to defeat the Collectors and Geth in 2 with spam.

There is a profound sense of irony that Shepherd stops a Batarian from crashing an asteroid into a Human colony, only for Shepherd to do the same thing by crashing an asteroid into a Mass Relay destroying a Batarian colony.
Also, I am surprised you didn't at least explain the Lorik Quinn infinite paragon/renegade points loop.

44:34 I believe I have the answer to your question.
So, in Mass Effect 2 it’s confirmed that the technology behind Dragon’s Teeth came from Sovereign and not the Geth as was suspected by the characters in Mass Effect 1. This is confirmed during the Reaper IFF mission if you’re curious as to how this is brought up.
Considering that this is Reaper technology it stands to reason that this is left over from a previous cycle that they eradicated.
Garrus states that he’s heard of these types of “machine cultists” before, cases where people unearth some strange alien technology and become “indoctrinated” (key word lol) into blindly worshipping it like slaves.
So your explanation for this side quest is that during a previous cycle somehow some Reaper technology was left behind on this planet, following this the humans that were working on the planet discovered it and became unwilling slaves under the technologies’ influence. This then lead to them impaling themselves on the Dragons Teeth as some form of ritual sacrifice to their newly perceived deity, becoming the husks.
Damn that was a long nerdy explanation sorry haha 🤓 😂

I like this route being able to get some unique Liara dialogue I've never heard before. I also never knew Dr. Michel shells out more $$ when you sell to her after her quest! Personally, I prefer unlocking all the side quests organically rather than flying into the systems. The Kahoku quest works really well towards the end of the game after you've found Rachni and Thoriun Creepers and you can bring Tali + the planned Virmire survivor. Great content, keep it up!

I'm really excited to see you continuing this series past the Soulsborne franchise! I feel like ME1 in particular is a sneakily really good game to apply this format to; it's mostly straightforward, but has a ton of little interlocking pieces that are fun to put into proper order. And honestly, as somebody who loves doing this sort of thing on my own playthroughs of games, this whole format is a joy to watch. Great stuff!

    The Trinket
If you completed Citadel: Xeltan's Complaint before returning to her, Sha'ira will give you a bonus reward, a small trinket that appears to be of Prothean design. This can be used on Eletania, a planet in the Hercules system of the Attican Beta cluster. Use the trinket when examining the anomaly at the ruins, and you will experience a short burst of information about the Protheans studying cavemen on Earth. If you do not speak to Xeltan before returning to Sha'ira, her door will be locked and you won't get the trinket. (Fandom Wiki)

After hearing many praises of Mass Effect from friends I finally caved on a really strong Steam sale. I got as far as being let loose on the citadel. I'm not made for games without some kind of guideline. :D
When you mentioned being fuel efficient I was reminded of Air Diver for the Genesis. You can enter any stage in any order, but your air-carrier can't refuel itself so you can gameover by completing distant stages over and over.

Lore note about the 'Bring Down The Sky' DLC - The torches were stuck there by the colony. It was meant to bring the asteroid closer for mining. The Batarians just took over and set the torches to straight up crash the asteroid into the planet, they didn't actually put the torches there themselves.
Also, am I the only one who thinks Batarian lore just has no possible way to leave the Citadel Races looking good? I mean, it's canon that the Batarians were vastly outgunned when they first broke the agreement to not enslave Citadel citizens, and canon that their illegal slaves are being sold on their homeworld, to members of their government... And nothing gets done. I kinda get it from the Salarians, but the Asari? If your goverment is willing to let you suffer a thousand years of torture, rape, and slavery rather than actually enforce their agreements and treaties, I think you need a new government.

@@robertharris6092 Whe the Council met the Batarians, they made an agreement to not raise a fuss about the slavery thing as long as the Batarians left the Council races alone. Tangentially, I feel like the people who think Ashley is xenophobic are straight up wrong. She brings up legitimate security concerns exactly once, drops it when you tell her you trust them, and her dialogue in 3 says she thinks of Tali like a younger sister.

Very cool video. Reminds me of Many A True Nerd's "Can You beat Mass Effect with No Friends?" series (which is largely about how avoiding companions breaks the narrative), and also Twenty Sided's "Mass Effect 2 Broke the Franchise" (which is more about how promises of Mass Effect 1 weren't paid off, and how Mass Effect 3 was hamstrung but a bad setup).
In case the actual video editing and voiceover is a big drain, please feel free to make the videos shorter. As the "Can You Beat Mass Effect with No Friends?" series highlights, it's possible to condense a big game into a small video. Otherwise, please carry on. I'm guessing that capturing your own footage is the biggest time sink, and I'm here for longer videos either way.

So for example, recruiting him but then taking Ashley and Garrus with you to Chora's den is fine.

No matter if you're Paragon or Renegade, it's critically necessary to always, I repeat, ALWAYS, to the effort of maximizing your choices and efforts, to punch Khalisah.

I really do like the longer format, I still think a little more detail at the expense of a longer runtime would be good for the videos. Imagine you’ve never played mass effect, what the hell are geth? What is the citidel? What’s a krogan? Just hitting those little bases could really rope in a wide audience if they feel like they’re experiencing the game in full as intended alongside the video. Another banger as always Monty

Ok but throughout this whole video I've been constantly confused as to what FF10 minigame is being referenced during all the hacking sections. Like I havent played it in a while but the only one I can think of that's close to those is that one minigame to learn the Jecht shot which is like, a rarity compared to the others. This is gonna haunt me for days xD

in truth I think I meant FFX-2 lightning tower calibration as the *closest* match to the ME loot containers. The jecht shot learning is absolutely a match too! Ha thanks for commenting on this

I remember stumbling on that paragon charm problem too. At the time, I thought it made sense insomuch as the more good stuff you do, the more solid your reputation becomes. But looking at this playthrough, I somehow doubt that most of the people involved will have talked to each other.

I know you didn't mention the Mako much here, but ME1 Mako sections are widely considered horrible and annoying. I know they improved them in Legendary edition, but I will say that I actually adore driving the Mako around and even accidentally got some physics launch glitches during my ME1 playthrough.
I do have to warn you for when you play Andromeda, it's not a perfect game. When it was being developed, the teams for it kept getting gutted and people placed on other projects. That being said, for what got done with what was essentially a barebones team, it's an amazing game and I think rather enjoyable, though I haven't beaten it. I really hope you enjoy it!

    • @ji_mothy
      @ji_mothy  8 месяцев назад +1

Ty! My "mentions" of the mako were all the shots I included of driving really stupidly, flipping the car, taking spinning jumps! It does get high bottomed easily and I _hate_ how they dumbed down the controls so Up goes in the direction the camera is facing instead of having normal car controls. Makes it impossible to duel thresher maws

    • @Yaeza31
      @Yaeza31 7 месяцев назад

@@ji_mothy The best tactic I've found for dealing with thresher maws is (funnily enough) to just sit still while it's above ground and hit your jump jets at the last second to avoid most of its goo projectiles. They're mostly HP sponges so once you get the rhythm down, it's just a matter of time. I will say the sound mixing for Thresher Maws? god fuckin awful. Their screams, no idea which audio setting they're tied to, but they are like 10x louder than all other audio I get from the game.

44:34. The dragon's teeth aren't a geth invention, they're a Reaper invention. My understanding is that they were left behind from a previous cycle and the scientists dug them up.

I randomly stumbled onto your channel from the souls videos. I like that you're branching out to other games! I honestly hate EA, but you video helped me remember what I missed from that series. So much so, that I'm finally going to try Andromeda. It's on sale as well.

Comment to appease the algorithm overlords.
I only found your channel recently and I've really enjoyed your "as intended" videos. I very much prefer the longer format of this one, though I know the algorithm can be kind of harsh on videos over a certain length. For what it's worth my vote is for longer videos, but if the analytics say stick to the shorter ones you should go where the money takes you. Ain't no channel at all if you can't afford to make content....

Udina as the human rep, haven't done that yet, curious to see how that affects ME2.
Also, for my first play through, I too got to Liara last, and didn't realize that was rare dialogue until I watched other play throughs of the game. Man I hated trying to collect everything the second time I went through the games, so having a list of places to hit and what specifically to double back to will be a great use for number three with the Renagade Sheppered I plan on having.
Great vid, looking forward to the next one.
