After running Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2, the natural progression was obviously to do a Demon's Souls all npc content run! Playing how Miyazaki intended, a tongue in cheek way of saying playing the game "right" by maximizing NPC content and using items for their best purposes.
Played on the remake. I never owned a ps3 bro.
Pure White World Tendency events for all the areas happened, but we didn’t do pure black tendency which ultimately did cost 1 line of dialogue from the Monumental. That shoulda been my Loyce Soul moment for this video, oops.
I ran a poll for the next game to make, and Dark Souls 3 won by a good amount. That will likely be next! While that game is linear, the NPC interactions are easy to mess up, so it will likely be more focused on questlines.

Miyazaki originally wanted a perma-death system, so a no death run is what he intended
Perma-death + how hard some demon's souls areas are sounds actually insane
By this logic you`d also have to mod toxic swamps into every nook and cranny of the souls series
I want that as a mod or update for the remake…

The narration isn't that great. It very much sounds like he's reading it off a page and every sentence has 1 of 2 different intonations. Start up and end down, or start down and end down. These video ideas are interesting and well trimmed, but the narration is really bad. Plenty of other people with the same problem have found success on RUclips though. It's just difficult to listen to after you notice it.
I know its silly but after watching this series ive been noticing more "occult club moments" in other games and even refering to them as such.
that's so cool! they're always a sign of a game developer who knows what they're doing, like they whisper "here take this" through the screen...

Pokémon has tons of these. Most of the Pokémon games will put useful tools near gyms, like trade Pokémon, easy-to-find wild Pokémon, or TM moves

As far as reaching the credits goes in elden ring, there's 11-12 required bosses and you only really have a choice on the first 2-3. Once you enter the capital your path is set. Though there is an everloving mountain of optional content lol@@ji_mothy
@@ji_mothy I might be off the mark but Eldin Rings open world and player transition between areas by physically traveling between them instead of just picking a level might be the difference that matters for Op.
@@jameswinter3832 you also don't really choose freely. There's more freedom than the souls games, but there is a lot of locked off progression and a fairly set path
@@radojerkovic3059 I would disagree - you need 2 great runes for capital access, and you can choose Godrick, Radahn, Rykard, Renala, hell even Mohg as your first 2. Not ideal but you can. For altus access you can collect full dectus, kill Makar or get abducted by the virgins. After Morgott it does get more linear, but there is always the Haligtree and Underground areas to explore and even Ranni's quest line.

i guess it’s an annoying complaint nowadays and most people brush off remake criticism as overreaction but it does sting a little to see every challenge run video use the remake. there’s just so much about the original that’s so endearing and beautiful! i wish more people would be exposed to it as THE demons souls instead of this one. i guess for the purposes of this run though, it doesn’t make a huge difference besides the extra fat official armor pieces and the new rings.
love this series despite my terminal remake gripes and i’m excited for more. bonus points for the fall out boy reference at the old king doran segment lol
glad you enjoyed, your remake feelings are def valid. It certainly stretches the (already loose) premise of actually playing it how the designer wanted.
Personally I just never had a PC or a PS3 so I only get the DeS remake and SOTFS for DS2
I played DeS on PS3 for the first time last winter. It was a remarkable experience after beating every other "soul" title multiple times, including ER. I wasn't able to do any online play, if it even functions anymore so I played the Old Monk offline. I was so entranced by the dark atmosphere of the area and the boss itself that I was happy with it
I love how the devs added fake players even in offline. Shame they never revisited that later. Adds life to a dreary world.
@@minespatch It really is amazing how just seeing a faint white shade of another "real" player makes you feels so connected. It feels like you and your fellow gamers are locked in an epic battle in your own respective worlds. There's a sense of reassurance in knowing another player is struggling through the same things you are, or in the middle of some bizarre challenge run. Not having them indeed makes the game feel much more lonesome, which helps reinforce a lot of vibes but I really prefer having them too
There's a private server for Demon's Souls in the PS3. Search "the archstones demon's souls" and it should pop up. It's not as populated, but it would be nice to have more people interested in playing DeS on the PS3.

i just realized, you might have to do elden ring someday...somehow. God just thinking about how much time and effort that run would take to plan out makes my head hurt 💀
i'm hopeful! iirc the trickiest thing to unwind is the dung eater/boiled crab guy quests. But you can bet i'm abusing spirit ashes to reduce difficulty

especially with all the small things like getting both halves of each medallion before the story asks you to go there, getting all the ending soul rune things, etc.

Elden Ring is fine due to people already having made checklist orders of how to do them, given the nature of that game. The billions of graces make it easier to port around too. Honestly less obnoxious and a slog than the souls games.
Elden Ring also has generally very few steps to each npc (except Gowry and Dungeater). The only thing that really sucks is how Elden Ring still has some broken NPC triggers, like Nepheli's last step breaking until you rest at certain graces, or Diallos just not finishing up in Jarburg.
it's like you do your best to emulate the childish, "meme heavy", "reference heavy" rapid fire editing that every souls-game run through video strives for to keep the kids attentions, but you half-ass it by not having the constant overlays and cutaways of pictures and videos.
just stop it altogether.

This series is something i can just watch over and over enjoyed every moment. I played bloodborne before any other souls game, i was trash but still loved it. Then i got DS1 remastered and truly fell in love with the soulsborne games. Ran through ds1 to new game +2 and went back to bloodborne and dog walked everyone until i got to gehrman, but when i beat it man i knew why the fan base was obsessed. Now im on demon souls and damn Incredible games looking forward to ds2, ds3, sekiro even if you dont include it and elden ring. Love the videos probably more than i should but you absolutely deserve so many more subscribers

Thats not unique, its just not the same as every streamer does it, but most people like me play only the way its Intendet

So for you 1-1 is as easiest as 2-1 , 3-1 , 4-1 and 5-1 ? So you are saying that the level of dificulty of Boletaria first level is the same as Latria or Valley of defilement first level (for example) ?
Dark Souls 2 is the most like Demon's Souls when it comes to enemy resistances, but in that game it's mostly strike that's the excellent option. Admittedly the weaknesses in DkS2 are less than in DS but still more than in DkS1 or 3 (or ER). I miss having damage type matter.
Love the series, however, you're technically not playing Demon's Souls as Miyazaki intended, as you're playing the remake, which he had no involvement in.
There are a few minor differences between the two versions, but the biggest one is that the sodden ring doesn't exist in the original, so there is no need to through Latria into pure black world tendency.
I do feel you should have killed the named black phantoms and then went on a murder spree to do Mephistopheles.
I love this series and would love to see more soulsborne content from you. A nice watch in the evening, while calming myself down from the stress of the day.

yeah! They are 10% creepy but 90% amazingly detailed. This is the best looking game I've ever played

Like I was replaying bloodborne because I like to come back every so often to it, but it was the first fromsoft game I beat, I had demon souls, but a lot went over my head at the time so even though I'd put a lot of time into it, I never got very far lol but one thing that always threw me for a loop was that their NPCs mouths never moved, I always had head canon that said it was all telepathic lol but it really is gorgeous, and only slightly creepy lol

Oh, and since you're open to suggestions, a New Vegas complete run MIGHT be cool. Kind of impossible, but cool

Yeah I'm also super sad how they never fleshed out a good rock, paper, scissor system for elements and weapon types in the other souls games.
Why even bother with the different physical types. Dark Souls 2 even removed that stupid "normal" damage type for just slash, pierce and strike.
much of the joy I had playing DS1 was finding new weapons and having that moment of, "can I justify changing my build for this?" Giving the player a reason to keep multiple weapons is great design imo

there's always a blurry line where I gotta cut off a script, or they become too close to an awkward platinum trophy guide. the assassinations/PBCT run makes more sense to do in NG+ and that didn't make the cut.

Istarelle was on the short list! The plague resist bonus might have been enough to allow approaching Garl from the plague side and have a more interesting fight in the larger arena. Kinda wish I had now edit: I remember now, it's not buffable and I had decided I want resin/slime a lot on this run

I think demons souls lore is amazing in the sense that every person's play through will be different, and they will get access to different dialogue that makes different people's understanding of the world unique. I love how realistic this is, that the lore can be understood or interpreted differently based on one's chosen path in game. Your run demonstrated this to great extent.

Been watching a ton of soulsborne challenge runs lately, and yours are some of my favorites. You’ve got a great sense of humor, I was surprised to see you with only 10k subs. Hopefully that will increase soon!

Its kinda funny how close this run is to a full all tendency event playthrough, recommended by the official atlus guide.
Anyways if you want a fully complete playthrough based on this one all thats left to do is:
There is a secondary pure white reward in the valley of defilement not mentioned here. In 5-1 close to the room with all the rats is a ladder that leads to a secret area with a really good spear for faith users. Has really good poison and plague resistance too.
The pure black events have another less obvious mechanic to it, if you kill both the black phantom, and the premeval demon without reloading the area, that area will shift by 330 points, meaning you are only 1 bosskill off of getting it to pure white.
Finally if you wanna do Mephistopheles quest from pure white character tendency, all you have to do is kill each of the area merchants in 1-3 2-1 3-1 4-2 and 5-2. That will spawn Mephistopheles. Be aware that that quest will leave you at pure black character tendency and will require 2 ng+ cycles to get it back to pure white. Being at pure black will cost you 5% HP in soul form.
Also be aware that environmental kills, and poison/blight do not count.
These "As intended" videos are very useful, and it was a pleasant surprise to hear Landstalker music.
I'm loving this series, my dude. It's just so interesting to see how many hoops you have to jump through to maximize content in these games. Keep up the great work, though something tells me that and Elden Ring "as intended" run is probably impossible. ^_^

It's probably just a me thing but my first run I did 1-1, 1-2, world 2, world 3,, world 4, world 5, 1-3, then 1-4. And if there ever was a cannon/intended way to play the game I feel this is the way to do it. It never ends up feeling too hard and the difficulty has a nice curve to it.

Dark Souls 2 is made based off Demon's Souls, not Dark Souls. I quickly pick it up at Majula when first time playing... 😁
Clearly there's a miscommunication during development, either they want to make Demon's Souls 2 or Dark Souls 2, then they just mix both.
It is because Dark Souls is actually a troll product from Miyazaki to piss off Sony. It's not really a game as intended to be, but people like it. Demon's Souls is the real game.

Also, this video was quite interesting to me, just like the Bloodborne one, since I don't have a PS5 (I have a PS3 that I haven't used in years though, so maybe I should get the original games somewhere, although they would lack online content).

I only wish you went into more detail and explained what you were doing, both so I could know/understand and so the video didn’t come off as another one if those generic “here’s my edited play through with little quips throughout” videos which lack the substance your unique run provided
Honestly one of the biggest weaknesses of DS3 that was commonly said is that it offers very little variance in how you would go through the game so I'm glad you did Demon Souls instead

Okay I may be a lil late but like yeah I agree with others completely, I had no idea your channel wasn't a much larger following based on how great the production is. Which when you uploaded you had 5.6k and now you're already up to 14.8k in roughly two months so I am super happy to see you are growing at a very good rate! I only have seen the dark souls 1 video from this series but just that honestly has convinced me to 100% sub and watch probably everything you ever post. Side note, I absolutely adore your voice.

I feel like the intended way to experience the Old King Allant fight is to hear Ostrava, get the key, go up there to see his fsther just like he did, get owned because Allant is so aggressive, then go back to Old King Doran, get Demonbrandt, and fight Allant's Soulbrandt with your Demonbrandt. IIRC it requires faith to use, too, so it ezplains why you were pushikg that stat during the run.

Idk what it is but Demon's Souls Remaster just doesn't look right. The graphics are great but it just doesn't feel like Demon's Souls from PS3.
Have you considered playing any Armored Core games as Miyazaki intended? I, along with most souls fans, haven’t ever seen a playthrough of most of those games (6 excluded) and am curious to see if there are any quest lines or occult club moments located in those games. I’m also interested to just see what they’re all about since I’ve personally avoided any AC6 content until I myself get a ps5 one day.

I just finished Demon Souls for the first time. I don't have a PS5 or a PS3, but hey modern times and sailing the High see gets you there. But here is the fun part. I hated the swamp, so I thought there must be a ring to get through there so I googled and learned about the Sodden Ring... that is only in the remake... fuck. So I suffered a lot with that Invader.
Love the video! Maybe in the future for these videos, if an NPC questline/ending/etc. would remove more content than it would add, maybe doing it on NG+ on the same character would work?
This was pretty far from a so called "perfect run".
From doing levels in the wrong order, to missing npc dialogue and even failing to receive all npc gifts. Which was something that you bragged about accomplishing on the thumbnail.
I don't think I've seen a single one of these kinds of videos from you, where you actually do what you set out to do.
