Azure Span - Music & Ambience | World of Warcraft Dragonflight

- The Azure Span is a zone of snowy peaks, mist-covered forests, and icy tundra. It stretches from coastal tuskarr villages through sprawling forest tundra to looming spires of ice and snow. Regal blue dragons once roamed these lands, but with the passage of time, several tribes of tuskarr, gnolls, and furbolg now call these ancient lands their home. It is the location of the Azure Archives. Much of the zone is filled with varied biomes covered in snow and ice, giant frozen waterfalls, ice rivers, and forests shrouded in mist.
The zone storyline sees players accompany Kalecgos, the former blue Aspect, as he adventures into the archives of Sindragosa.

I waited for another Dragonflight Beta build to see if there is any new music included. Couldn't see any. I am hopeful that Azure Span music is complete and this is a definitive video.
Initially I wanted to make a 100% positive music video, but there are some tracks which I should have completely ignored (Tundra and Gnoll). In the end, I've decided to include only a few tracks from there, the most tranquil ones.
Did you enjoy this video? I need your help in order to continue my work. Give it a like, listen to more (playlist links below), subscribe. Do you want to further support my work? Details in the video description.

Azure Span really feels like Grizzly Hills and Borean Tundra had a baby. Such a great zone!
My first time into Azure Span, I rode in on a ground mount for the RP and I was greeted by that opening violin.
Immediately became my favorite zone.
Yessss
I have been using this to fall asleep for a week now.
The Azure Span is my happy place.
Still using it? :D
The beginning track took me right back to Grizzly Hills. Here’s to hoping this expansion is just as good as Wotlk! Have a great day and as always - thank you for all that you do for your community. Take care!
Hopium, yes :) Let's hope it will be different.
P.S.: My heart hurts a bit when I'm listening to the first track. I mix of feelings, I can't say exactly why.
@@Meisio aren't we all a bit Scottish or something?
With mixed feelings about it, just like it should be wherever you're from.
(Maybe I'm remembering Scottish music wrong tho xD should find/revisit more of it, been some time.)
Fun(?!?) completely random fact:
Jeremy Soule was "cancelled" after being accused of ...certain stuff, and probably won't make more OSTs. Found out last night when I revisited old Harry Potter vg OSTs.
I dunno, Grizzly Hills has never felt THAT special to me, it's good but ok.
But then again, neither does this piece.
🙊
@@hawkstrike18 huh, interesting and disappointing. he was being talked about on meisio's stream this week, people were wondering why he wasn't on this OST
@@sikraasikraa he had been on almost every game's OST, lolz.
Well, I'm not entirely sure where I stand on cancel culture('s extreme sides), but I definitely see why one shouldn't be welcomed in projects after crossing (many) lines, marketing reasons aside🤮. If he's done it.
Similar arguments were raised here (I'm not American) with some actors and a TV presenter (etc, but they won't uncover other famous ppl because it affects our conservative overlords and religious figures) the last years, and I heard a talk on the radio last week with the topics: "should an artist be separated from his work /what if a talented person is nuts n an a-hole or criminal, should we continue appreciating anything related to him"?
Tbh it's complicated stuff but I think it generally depends - when something is real art (define that easily tho) and not something lesser like some shallow comedy or show, you're bound to want to feel/listen to it again so it's harder to forget... then it depends on the reasons, crimes/violence n cancerous behaviors are heavier than whatever else one may be "cancelled" from (I don't know much on the subject, maybe it's always due to actions similar to the ones implied above, and accusations... and it gets more complicated from here because you cannot know all data of each case, so imo it's best to avoid the less obvious cases and not be absolute ...in general too, but especially when you just can't know key details and who is lying). And there are always many other factors (sellouts n trollish/degenerate/corrupt "artists" n figures should be boycotted but it rarely happens, and I could bring up names but meh), I wrote too much already tho so I cba to mention more even tho I like controversial discussions and clearing things up when I can.
I don't play anymore, but I listen to this music and it makes me hope that everyone I used to play with back in Vanilla and TBC have found happiness, success, love and are all enjoying life wherever they may be.
Sometimes thinking about the memories from World of Warcraft is the greatest gift the game has given
❤❤❤
What realms were you on
@@Mowthelawn3 I was on Suramar and Mal'Ganis
@@travr1131 I was also on Suramar! Night elf priest, Etrip
You find a quiet spot. just chilling in Azure Span enjoying the lovely Grizzly Hills vibe, birds singing, lovely orchestral with a lovely little bit of folk violin and then BAM!! "YOU DARE TO STEAL FROM MY CRUCIBLE!!??"
Hahaha. Good one.
After all the ups and downs WoW still managing to touch ones heart. Isn't it great that Dragonflight's journey is just beginning.
11:01 is what you are here for
This is easily one of the best zones ever created. It’s so immersive, so thematical, so beautifully designed. I am totally okay with getting fewer zones if they’re on this level of epicness.
Damn, the music is really good, evokes just enough of Grizzly Hills while still being it's own thing
1860's American frontier vibes
@@sebastians3773 I thought the exact same thing! So cozy
Anyone else get some form of saddening nostalgia from hearing the music? I’m explaining it to a friend now, it’s so weird.
I actually love the zone. Probably the best zone ever created in wow. Just can’t get past that trigger.
Yeah, A feeling of cozyness felt during childhood now in the distant past, I lost my parents few years ago and the music of the azure span just hits me with the same feelings because of that.
That's the whole story of the Blue flight if you follow the quest lines.
i get that! like the person above me said, the blue dragonflight quest is all about reuniting family, so maybe they created the azure span soundtrack to evoke that feeling of nostalgia.
when i first entered the zone & was greeted with the music, i immediately felt right at home, for some reason. actually, i feel that way with almost all of the dragon isles soundtrack. i'll always treasure that feeling :) i hope you do too, if it brings you that same comfort it does me
12:20 best part
I can't find this on Spotify Dragonflight soundtrack at all why?
@@llyashenko some of it is on the Giant of the span - song, but not most of it :(
100% love the zones all being connected. makes the world feel alive and i have NO idea why shadowlands did away with it lol
My Beast Mastery Hunter is based on a D&D character who loves nothing more than a peaceful life of fishing, cooking, and relaxing. Needless to say, he is parked in Azure Span at max level, letting everyone else save the world while he helps the Iskaara cook their stew
you dorky mofo, I love it
it reminds me of 11 years ago, me playing on private wotlk server- jobless, with no plans for future but going back every day to rp with my guild and travel around
those were empty, yet so full days
wish i could have experience of fun time with friends like then, alas only one person still have contact with but those times were good
i love the harp at 46:28 , straight out of the "zin'azshari 4" track
I absolutely love this zone and i know for a fact, visiting this video in a few years from now will make me feel very nostalgic
This zone is underrated, I think. That flute(?) in the intro always gives me goosebumps as I soar high above the snow-dusted trees and the tundra.
Ive been leveling in this zone and when that first song plays it hits me so hard every time
15:20 this part makes me cry, damn it! How that hurts so bad!
15:10 part is so beautiful and emotional ❤
My favourite part by far. It takes me back to the quest with those two guys where one of them died. It was so sad.
Man, what a stunning zone. They’ve done it again, these damn bastards make some pretty pixel things and load it with great music ❤
Azure Span is exactly what Grizzly Hills would be if made today in 2022. My favorite zone in Dragonflight
I was thinking the same thing!
totally agree! Grizzly hills was always my favour now its Azure the music is so beautiful.
Mine too.
I love that ambience! This video and the sound gets me deeper into my memory of the good old times as the game itself 😅
I decided after many years to work on my archeology to try for the Ultramarine Battle Tank mount again, and went to Pandaria to do the Mantid method for the crates. First thing I did when I got to the Dread Wastes was come here for Azure Spans music and ambiance. This is the most calming music and made it my absolute favorite. Keeps me focused and happy 😇
I want to give David Arkenstone a thousand bucks just because of his fantastic music. Truly amazing.
Man oh man. Played through this zone and it has really impressed me with its beauty and size. There is so much to see and explore. The music is beautiful and soothing. Could this be Wow's best zone? At least top 5 for me...
Nice job again ❤️
Ihope this game gains new subscribers and thrives long into the years to come!
I’m so thankful to you. I’m unable to play the game, but I can experience the environment and music.. which are really my favorite parts.
Such a cool zone, best zone in dragon isles. They clearly do this zone for giving Grizzly Hills vibes which some of the best zones (and music) of all warcraft universe
I'm in love with the first 3 minutes of this mix. I recall having to stop playing when I encountered i on the South West coast of the Azure Span..
This transcends music for the ears.
It's music for the soul.
The music in this area really sounds great! It's a mixture of lots of good things: the music is sublime, the visuals are beautiful and give a sense of tranquility, the area is reminiscent of Grizzly Hills which brings a nostalgic touch, and above all it's something again that we necessarily want to discover. Nostalgia, novelty, beauty, this is why this area gives a feeling of well-being and at the same time a slight twinge in the heart. Unbelievable.
Couldn’t agree more. Actually makes me a little happy-sad, like a bittersweet feeling.
this is my dnd groups theme music! every session when the DM does a recap of our last session we turn this on, it is a perfect ambiance and the music is seriously beautiful.
man 0:50 gives me goosebumps over my entire soul
My favourite zone from Dragonflight! As someone who always wanted an extra cold zone on Northrend, this place is a gift.
Thanks very much for this.
Listening to this while drawing dragons *chef's kiss*
Kinda wanted to give this a quick listen and move on in the playlist but I've been replaying it for close to 4 hours now. I love all the NPC and ambient sounds a lot here, feels kinda like I'm there myself, and also like i have wow running in the background waiting for a dungeon or bg to pop up.
There were some really beautiful moment here that catch my attention and make me stop my work to focus on the, especially 6:20 and 12:23
I especially like Three-Falls Lookout (10:59). I would even say it gets close to Totems of the Grizzlemaw for me, but then Totems is a tough one to beat.
you can tell blizz knew exactly what they were doing with this zone, and the music. even the colors, i would not be suprised if this zone was in tthe same area as grizzly hills and howling fjord prior to the sundering.
so far, the dragon isles remind one a lot of the better parts of northrend
This brings me back to when i heard this mix intensively in November, had 2 exams, dark room and stressed out of my mind.
But oh how beautiful it is.
absolutely lovely. great arrangement and I am very happy with the music from DF so far. thanks meisio
I LIKE THIS MUSIC SOOOOOO MUCH!!! lyrical, artistic, peace and quiet~
This looks so beautiful, and the music is so soothing! Such a breath of fresh air after Shadowlands, which was beautiful in appearance and in music, but it just didn’t evoke any emotion in me at all. Glad to feel something warm and fuzzy for WoW again. 😊 Thank you for your amazing work, as always, Meisio! ❤
Good video, thanks!
Based on the music, I almost feel like whereas Northrend's Grizzly Hills was more based on Scandinavian folk lore, the Azure Span feels a bit more inspired by the Old West and North America. There's just something about the music. If you listen closely, it almost sounds like something you'd hear in Dances With Wolves.
If you listen to the soundtrack played during the lich king fight on the frozen throne you can hear subtle hints of the same sounding choir in the back when in the azure archive. I think they did this to reference what happened to Sindragosa. Almost like a ghost from the past returning.
Thanks for this, my heart deeply appreciate it
Thank you :)
0:52 Braveheart's producers would have been jealous of this song. What a use of the bagpipes damn
Brother those are not bagpipes.

Looks like a beautiful zone, and the music is great!
Some glorious music in this zone. Love it
Really enjoyed some of the tracks in this video
Yes, me too: Explorer, Ruins, Frost, Blue Dragon and some tracks from Tuskarr of course :)
@@Meisio Tuskarr is a fan favorite
For me, visuals and sound feels like Wotlk 2.0. And it's awesome
I dunno but this place is sooo good , im really enjoying playin wow again .
Like my dreams...love it
Esta es mi favorita de todo el Mundo de wow
What a wonderful mix. Thank you so much for the time and effort that you put into this. :)
This is beautiful
Keep up with the great work! I really appreciate it. :)
Strong Outlander season 5 feeling ♥
Next to Nexus and the Coldarra this zone is one of my favorites. Always been a hugebfan of both the Blue and Green Flights. Great ambience as usual in your videos 🎉❤
this must be the best sound track since wotlk wow!
Thank you for doing what you do
Your intros are so beautiful! Seriously You are going to get me back into wow😂
Amazing how WoW looks nowadays compared to when it first released. The game looked so good when it came out. Crazy to think it's maintained its popularity 20 years later and looks as good as ever.
I don’t see a lot of people talking about the big tree hills/brackenhide brambles, seriously my favorite music out of the entire dragon flight soundtrack
I really love this music thank you.
Nice to explore this.
A other good vidoe dude keep you rock
I'm just waiting for everyone to start making instrumental covers of these songs. Like 3:52 would sound absolutely amazing played live on a violin. Or a piano cover 🤘
I usually don't listen to OSTs before the game comes out as I consider it a spoiler in a sense, but I wasn't feeling much excitement for the expansion until now. Can't wait to Azeroth again :)
Damn Frost C Hits hard
Mentally I said farewell to WoW after WOTLK but occasionally I come back to check out the next expansion. And honestly, not for its renewed gameplay or lore, but just for the ambiance and music. This zone is a prime example of why I check into the game every once in a while. Yes that's correct, I pay 50 dollars just to stand still in a zone and absorb its ambiance and music.
:o
yes...@@Meisio
감사합니다
I’m here for the Tuskarr music!
Camp Nowhere would have been so cool if it was fleshed out more. I actually got really into the human wizard and his blood elf friend, and the rust pine bears. Why didn’t they do more with this area?
need a longer version of explorer B so bad 15:05
A dragonflight tranquil video should be next lol
Well done Meisio, good compilation, beautiful shots. Really feeling Grizzly Hills vibes.
Another thing: The RP chat in the livestream (on video) freezes very frequently for hours and is out of sync with the interactive RUclips chat box, do you know what causes it?
The first one, anyone could tell me what genre of music you would fit that into, I want to find a playlist with this sort!
Hi Pierre. David Arkenstone, the composer for this track, usually composes Celtic / Instrumental music. I hope it helps.
@@Meisio thanks for the answer, appreciate it 😊

Is the opening sequence played on violin or fiddle?
Anyone else getting Coldarra flashbacks?
0:48-5:01
Anyone have the names of the songs? There isn't a list of the actual names of the azure span music anywhere
Just open the CC / Subtitles of the video. I tag all the tracks there (game file names).

Why does wow related stuff always have dislikes on their videos?

Trash expansion for sur!
It's of course your opinion. But time will tell. I feel this time is a bit different.
P.S.: The art of Warcraft is good as always, in my opinion.
