I don’t recall if ignition was keyed with seats out, although I do have a recall for 2 airbags so the dealership is gunna take care of those ones for me
Interesting how the 255 tires in the back rub considering that is the factory size for those wheels. I also have 255s in the back on my e46 sedan and experience no rubbing.
When you take off the lug nuts and it’s giving you a hard time to pull off, turn around a donkey kick it and it’ll come off easier and you’ll be there so it doesn’t hit the ground and scuff the rim or anything
dont follow my example lol, i was going behind the pinch welds but learned my lesson by denting the underside of the unibody. I go off the lift points and the rear diff or the front subframe at all times now.
@@DayOffDIY was like, Why not replace both low beams?! Then you said they were $100/piece😨 Looks like the gauge cluster issue is fixed! I’m still watching haha
I have yet to see a 318 E46 in america, I dont know if they were packaged here or not, im sure theres a BMW whiz in my comments that can answer it for you
I wanted to ask about you jacking the car from the side like that. I didnt realize that was a place to jack from? Normally I only use the jack pads. Whereabouts do you place the jack under there?
Good question! So from my experience the Unibody behind those rockers is really stout. you dont want to go too far underneath the vehicle, but theres lots of unibody that is safe to jack up from. Just have to be clear of any plumbing or wires hidden behind the plastics. Ive jacked them up from in front of the front jack pads too, good trick to getting floor jacks in place in one go
Read any jack stand instructions from Harbor Freight, Hein Werner, to U.S.Jacks and it is clearly stated that the jack stands should only be used to support one axle at a time. Not to support the side, not to use one at a time, and not to support both axles with two jack stand pairs. Also the rated load is for both jack stands. I believe the issue is the jack stands could tip if supporting a side or both axles. Everyone does it but know it is not to be done per the manufacturer.
I unplugged my front passenger seat to vacuum and clean and when I plugged it back in the airbag light is on and won’t go away. Do you have any idea why that might be??
Nice video, you should consider getting the bmw scanner 1.4 as it’s really useful for figuring out what’s wrong the car. Might even tell you what’s wrong with the cluster if you are still having that issue!
Thanks for the tip! Ive been shopping for scanners as well as talking with a scan tool manufacturer for the channel, nothing yet but its a definitely needed upgrade
@@DayOffDIY Thanks man I’m gonna get mine clean up! First I have to get the cooling system together just got my 330i from my dad he redid the cooling system but said it was still overheating he said the rad cracked. He believes he didn’t bleed the system correctly? Any thoughts?
@@seanshepherd6767 they can be finicky to bleed sometimes, did a video on my part 4 will it run bleeding the cooling system. Only sure way to know is to pressure test the cooling system.
The torque converter has a internal lock-up clutch, used to reduce the transfer loss when not shifting. It fails when a seal inside the torque converter hardens or breaks apart, and starts to bypass fluid so that the clutch doesn't apply. The transmission controller detects the failure as it does many other shifting problems, by comparing the engine speed (via CANBUS), input shaft speed and the output shaft speed. The only fix is to replace the torque converter with a new or rebuilt one, which requires removing the transmission. The cost of the torque converter ($300-$500+) is minor compared to the labor. It's not possible to replace that seal yourself. It requires cutting the torque converter open on a lathe, replacing the seals that aren't all available on the open market (Sonnax does list some parts), welding it back together while being held in a precision rotating fixture, and balancing the assembly.

@@DayOffDIY i really could do with one, i got a stone driveway too so i cant even do it on there, has to be in the street
New subscriber here, I’m really enjoying the vids, the car looks great too.
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate your support!
I personally hate xenon light bulb, halogens are better for my vision, I just get the brightest one to offer
I hear ya, I’ve been running LEDs in my Duramax and they’ve been pretty solid, just depends on the housing. Xenon’s can be high maintanence
Funny how I went from a spoonkid video to this one
hahah thats hilarious, well i hope you enjoyed lol
i love your videos!!!
Thanks!
I love this car ! In Australia my dad has the exact same topaz blue and car but it’s a 318 I! I don’t know if you have those in America !!
Do you have any idea why that might be??
hmmmm... hard to say, maybe the connector was left partially unplugged? or you turned the ignition on for a bit with the seat harness disconnected?
Headlight lens needs some love Bro.
no doubt, definitely on the list
Nice video, you should consider getting the bmw scanner 1.4 as it’s really useful for figuring out what’s wrong the car. Might even tell you what’s wrong with the cluster if you are still having that issue!
Thanks for the tip! Ive been shopping for scanners as well as talking with a scan tool manufacturer for the channel, nothing yet but its a definitely needed upgrade
Headlights need some detailing work
Yes they do, gunna be doin a seperate video for em i think!
@@DayOffDIY cool 😎
Simple green and water for the carpet or just simple green?

First I have to get the cooling system together just got my 330i from my dad he redid the cooling system but said it was still overheating he said the rad cracked. He believes he didn’t bleed the system correctly? Any thoughts?
@@seanshepherd6767 they can be finicky to bleed sometimes, did a video on my part 4 will it run bleeding the cooling system.
Only sure way to know is to pressure test the cooling system.
@@DayOffDIY I’ll go back and watch that video thanks man!! Need to get a pressure tester. Wish me luck 🍀
My ZKW bowls are burnt. I can barely see at night lol

@@DayOffDIY yeah I'm guna learn on my 320i and use that on a 330i in the future
"Isn't that satisfying" read my mind
hahahah loved popping that rocker back on, wish i had more of em to fix
I was wondering if you know what the unconnected plug under the rear seat connects to?
Bro u need e46 330i touring for that tyre transportation...)
I would love one! Always really liked that body style
Great job
Thanks!
The Michelins run larger than most manufacturers, odds are the new tires will not rub.
They usually do! I’ve caught it once or twice on speed bumps so I’ll have to go retest
what interior parts are leather? seats only?
I think so! maybe steering wheel too? Not too sure
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very curious how you will tackle that torque converter, mine is currently slipping so gotta find how to fix that.
Looks like Donald in the reply described it perfectly. Im going to source a rebuilt or used torque converter, drop the trans, and swap em out.
great Explanation Donald, thanks!
500? You know how much one of these costs here in Portugal? 15k €. I have a 320d and they even Sell for 4 to 5 k €.
I’m about to ship it to Portugal and sell it over there! Use it to fund the channel! Hahah
Crazy to hear that Henrique. Thanks for stopping by
23:06 do you cover anything in the engine? I’m afraid to do this to my e46 cuz i don’t wanna eff shit up
