    Honestly, I think one of the healthiest things for the game about follower dungeons is that they look non-trivially *harder* than normal runs with other players. The fact that the AI dps characters kind of suck and aren't just deleting bosses in 15 seconds means you actually see and have an opportunity to learn various of the enemies' mechanics. They're still very simple and gently tuned versions of same compared to higher dungeon difficulties, but they could feel like an actual stepping stone to harder dungeons in a way that normal (and even heroic outside the first week or two of an expansion) currently don't.

    Follower dungeons makes me think of something I've been pondering lately.. It's an expansion-sized thing but.. WoW needs a game-wide story mode. A complete game-wide overhaul to allow you to solo-experience the stories of all expansions, including dungeons & raids. A streamlined way to be guided through all story beats at your leisure. It's *technically* possible to do this now, but it's rough and messy and depends entirely on the player figuring out what stories exist where and how to get to them

    • @Khadharphak
      @Khadharphak 10 месяцев назад +4

      I said the same on another video, I'd like to see something akin to FF14's story, maybe as an optional choice for chromie time, something that guides you from vanilla all the way to the present prominent story quests and capping off each expansion with solo story raids that let you team up with the important NPCs of the time to take down the big bads of each expansion, like joining Tirion and the other Argent crusade leaders to fight Lich King, because a lot of new players never see that content unless they seek it out and it's a cakewalk cause they're max level and can oneshot most legacy raid bosses.

  • @murphybegood

    Please Blizzard allow follower dungeons to be available on all dungeons going forward. It would be brilliant to be able to replay old xpacs and have the ability to complete older dungeons that are part of those leveling zones. The amount of times I've been leveling a new character using Timewalking and I'd get to the end of the zone story and then have to queue for ages in the hope players will stay and complete the dungeon.

I know for myself I have always had a lot of anxiety when doing dungeons/raids I've never done before. Having healed the entire expansion, it's a false expectation to NEED mana before around M+12 and above (honestly I didn't bother carrying mana potions or water until +14 and Dawn of the Infinite). You kinda have to intentionally over-heal in almost anything lower, even if your party takes 100% avoidable damage (let's assume they avoid 1 shot mechanics, can't heal that anyways).

    Another positive for follow dungeons. As an RPer, it makes current content dungeons available to RP in with a smaller group, as now you can clear the instance in character with maybe one or two other people, at your own pace, stopping for emotes and dialogue as well.

It is easier to do that on FFXIV because people will litterally throw advice out at you and be like np if you mess up. I think the Dracthyr flying has a cool down to keep it in line with the similar Worgen ability wild running. Druids not being the only to instantly travel takes away their specialness.

  • @Trevan2412
    @Trevan2412 10 месяцев назад +50

    I think we're missing something behind the idea of the reduced dragonriding speed. The game is only as big as the time it takes to traverse it. If everything was larger, the relative speed would be smaller. Players keep asking for a larger world but also faster ways to traverse it, which is very contradictory when you think about it, because these things are basically opposites when it comes to a virtual environment.
    In other words, there are two ways you can make the world feel larger (which is what players want): Making bigger zones or increase travel times. And they can't exactly enlarge the old world. I think the reduced speed is totally fine, I wouldn't even mind if it was smaller than that.

    • @spxcex
      @spxcex 10 месяцев назад +6

      A bigger world just LOOKS bigger. What are you on about? Just because I can also travel the hypothetical bigger zone on my hypothetical faster mount in a shorter amount of time, doesn't mean the Zone will feel smaller. When I dismount and run around to do things I'm still as slow as ever, and I'll look tiny compared to everything around me.
      It will just feel more real. Instead of having every square inch taken up by quest objectives or mobs, have it feel like an actual landscape, where there are areas in between objectives where there's nothing but landscape to explore and get lost in.

    • @tovoklore6356
      @tovoklore6356 10 месяцев назад

      The speed reduction could also partly be for technical reasons as well. In the PTR I have experienced moments when ability inputs and vigor regen became unresponsive as if I had disconnected only I hadn't. I think the server fell behind on my character's status updates and was having to spend a number of server ticks to catch back up. This is something I haven't experienced on the Dragon Isles content.

  • @Donovanlefferts
    @Donovanlefferts 10 месяцев назад

    The thing about the tree being in the Dragon Isles is that it’s just an expansion continent, which hasn’t historically been relevant afterward, and being the new player zone does nothing for it. Boralus is still empty. Also, there is already Valdrakken, so that’s likely where anybody would go. So it is kind of like “here’s a new city out of the way that nobody will bother going to” to night elf players. Player housing or features like that would be necessary to make it relevant.

    I absolutely think this is a great idea. I think followers should come with the player for everything! Quests in the world, dungeons up to heroic (Not m+) and lfr. The player being able to learn the fights through expierence rather than going with other players will absolutely encourage those who do NOT do any multiplayer content to do some.

      They have been doing that all year. Unfortunately, while great for the game (and the players still engaged)- those type of changes do not really bring players back. Not many have returned despite that fact that Blizz has made and done more changes this year than ever before. It's obvious that Blizz is trying to bring back some of the players they lost, announcing a set of small but important things has yet to bring them back, so they are trying a different approach.

    I think they could do warbands in follower dungeons as, like you said, a cosmetic choice. They have the mechanics for a few classes worked into the AI already and will probably add more during the Saga; Blizz could make it so that if one of your characters has a matching spec you can swap them in place of the npc, just changing their appearance and name.
    I think the long, long term version of follower dungeons will be follower raids. A tier below or close to raid finder where you go through the raid with 9 npc mooks. Blizz put story endings in the raids so it would be good for *everyone* to be able to see them in game.

I don't like people being yippy with each other and yelling because someone messed one thing up, so I try to avoid group content anymore. So being able to do it during the expansion will be really nice. I'll admit, I haven't played since Shadowlands, but all of this hype with the War Within has got me thinking about coming back for the end of Dragonflight. I am not a fan of Amirdrassil being the new Nelf capital, just yet. There are several reasons, but primarily it has to do with the fact the Dragon Isles are not part of the base world map or even available in the new player experience, but Nelfs will be. Yes, I realize Nelfs can start in Amirdrassil and portal their way to some other place for questing, but that's a huge disconnect in my mind and I'm unable to see the sense of it when their historical lands and cultural ties will be on another continent. It feels like an abandonment of Kalimdor, which I'm not ready to accept. I'm super curious how this will all work out. It's like...Pandaren not being able to level in Pandaria. I hate it.
