    Just add some Spanish rice and refried beans for a nice meal. I bought the same 6qt Instant Pot model you have in the video back in 2017, and it's still going strong (only had to replace the silicone gasket once so far).

      When I cook mine they are raw, semi frozen and I cook them for 40 minutes on high-pressure and then I let them sit for 15 minutes before I eat them they come out perfect every time

    Quick question Melanie ,
    My tamales are frozen but already cooked from the store , what would be the time be . 20 minutes as you say is for raw …thanks so much for your feedback !

    Why did you use the pressure cook button vs. steam?

  • @jdavila7260
    @jdavila7260 2 года назад

    Melanie , I am assuming the tamales came fully cooked in the bag . I understand you froze yours , if they aren’t frozen what would the time be in the instant pot ? Less time or the same . Honestly surprised you had your frozen ones in I pot for 20 minutes , but I trust your methods as I always find your methods right on .

      The tamales I used were already premade and frozen, sold in a frozen foods isle. If they aren't frozen, the time would be less, I'm guessing it would be 15 min

    These are already done right? You’re just steaming it right? I believe all frozen tamales from the store are pre cooked.

    • @MelanieCooksRecipes
      @MelanieCooksRecipes  5 месяцев назад

      Yes I think they are precooked and frozen

      @@MelanieCooksRecipes I found that out today. In Texas we have the Mi Tienda brand and it was pretty good.

    No such thing as a Tamale, even a frozen one here in Australia 🇦🇺. Probably homemade by expat Mexicans or at traditional Mexican restaurants maybe...
    I have a ninja foodi for such things but it's enamel bowled. Still it works.. 👍
    Thanks Melanie. Keep on Cooking.

      It's a bummer they don't have Tamales in Australia :)

      @@MelanieCooksRecipes I'll keep an eye open for them. Some of those mobile food vans at events are Mexican themed, I might just get lucky. 😀

    Never buy store bought, quality is mediocre at best and corporations have no idea what real food is....plus it's just way more expensive, if you bought 12 of these you'd spend close to $30-$40 depending on your store but if you can find an Abuelita( a grandma preferably of Hispanic decent) then you'll pay about $10-$15 for a dozen and you'll get actual great tasting tamales packed meat.

      Some of us have to travel almost an hour to get real tamales but they are so worth it and if you call ahead, they make sweet tamales. I usually get the pineapple, strawberry, and raisin ones..

  • @FondaPetting
    @FondaPetting 7 месяцев назад

    That is way too long for tamales that are already cooked. I do 3 minutes and they are heated through. Why so long to reheat?

    • @MelanieCooksRecipes
      @MelanieCooksRecipes  7 месяцев назад

      Because the middle would still be frozen in my instant pot
