Don't know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!
Thank you for sharing! As a beginner I get intimidated and this just made me feel like I could do it! Doesn’t seem as overwhelming as all the huge pots 😆 Happy Holidays 🎄🫔
I am now a tamale fan. I will be using frozen tamales from Walmart in my 4 qt. p.c. Finally get to use my steamer basket, my basket says YA finally I have a purpose.
I have a question for you. My Instant Pot has a slow cook feature which I use often. On the high setting, it actually just barely pressurizes the pot because the button is up about 1/16" of an inch. I am curious if you have tried that - going for the traditional 1.5 to 2 hours, or if you have only tried pressure cooking for 40 minutes? Any difference in texture or moistness, etc. Thanks in advance!

@@cookingwithconchita9657 thank you..I tried this with my Insignia pressure cooker and I have an issue keeping the tamales standing, the metal stand is a bit different than yours the legs are longer and bigger holes. The tamales always go through the metal stand😭

Yes. You want to let them set a bit before you take them out. If you try and take them out as soon as they are done cooking, it will be really hot and may feel mushy
But that is pressure cooking them rather than steaming right? Mine were obliterated... a tutorial using the steaming button would be great. I can't find how to decide if I should use the high steam or low steam...
@@cookingwithconchita9657 i did and they were so soggy. i saw many recipes saying to pressure cook them. when i took off the lid, there was water dripping heavily off of the lid and the tamales were really when and squishy. after about 30 minutes, they were firmer. they were yummy but a little embarrassing to serve right away. Anyway, that's why i went looking for a 'steaming' option because i know that they are traditionally steamed. My instant pot has to steam options, high and low. i chose high and steamed for 45 minutes.... still soggy. i'll choose low next time. I couldn't find a tutorial that mentioned which steaming option to use or one that used the steam option button. Thank you :)
I never use the steam function. Is not necessary! When I cook I only use the SAUTE and YOGURT functions and sometimes I use the MEAT function. But I do my cooking using the MANUAL/PRESSURE COOK function
How long did you cooked them for? 40 mins on high pressure and once you open the lid the tamales are going to feel super soft you need to let them rest for 10 mins before you eat them.
I am only cooking a few. I have them wrapped in paper so they won't leak. I imagine if you stand them up you can fit more in the pot. Time varies of course when you have more in there so they are fully cooked. I steam not pressure cook. I would think that if they are wrapped in paper that you could lay them down and it would cook the same. I'm just steaming a few, they are papered and laying flat.
Thank you for this! You are the first person I've come across who actually states what size pot they've used!!!
You are very welcome and stay tune for the pineapple tamales recipe coming soon 😉👍🏼
But how much liquid isn't stated 😑
@Brandon Stahl it shows a 1 cup measuring cup in the video and they do it twice. So 2 cups of liquid
This video was PERFECT! Exactly what I needed to know and how to do it. I love that it was straight to the point!! Thank you!
Did you do it? It works? I'm afraid😅

You're voice sounds exactly like Elizabeth Pena's, the actress.

Great video! Do more!
I'm still going to cook the big pot on the stove, but I'm definitely going to try this for the ones I put in the freezer for later 😋

Lifesaver, thank you, gracias muchas muchísimas.
I would like to make a big batch for our superbowl party tomorrow. Can I MAKE them today and store them raw in the fridge to cook fresh tomorrow?
Yes you can ;)
Thank you! I had no confidence in doing these with the pressure cooker....
Thank you so much for this 💙
Awesome! Thanks!

Hi Karina, try 45 mins and do 25 mins NR

Yes, I also have a very easy pineapple tamales recipe here in my channel if you want to take a look 😉👍🏼

Los tamales estaban crudos o solo los recalentaste a vapor x 40 min
Hola, estaban crudos
Do u still add 2cups water if using the 6quart with the rack that come with insta pot??
Yes, always add 2 cups in the instapot.
I haven't see a recipe that ever had more or less.
I use 1 cup of chicken or beef broth
What is QR?

What size is your pressure cooker? 6 Qt or 10 Qt?

8 qt
it’s power Pressure Cooker XL.
@@isabelespinoza2394 hi this is an instant pot

How long did you cooked them for? 40 mins on high pressure and once you open the lid the tamales are going to feel super soft you need to let them rest for 10 mins before you eat them.
how much water ??
1 cup 2 cups it shouldn't go above the tray
What happens if you don't stand them up?
I am only cooking a few.
I have them wrapped in paper so they won't leak.

Nothing happens, is just a way of adding more to the pot and also not to make a mess👍🏼
Yes I agree, can you share your times os steaming and how many?
Ugh. I keep getting burn notice
You probably don’t have enough water or the silicone circle that goes on the lid is loose
No worries 😉 that happened to me too , just add more water
The masa looks raw still 🤔
You have to let them rest and the masa looks like that when they are still hot. Once it cools the consistency will change
