You cook vegetables separately. Can't you mix them? I'm a one person household & don't cook a lot at a time. Can't l cook squash & broccoli together? Might be a mixing of flavors but don't care. Any other reason for cooking separately l should know about? Thanks. Leonard Wiggins
Different vegetables have different cook times. For instance, if you cook broccoli and asparagus together the broccoli will be too soft and the asparagus will be cooked, and vice versa. It's a technique that needs mastering, but when you know how long to pressure steam, it's very convenient.
@@Red_Giant_Destroyer_Of_Worlds I've never had an issue cooking broccoli and asparagus together, both come out slightly crunchy just the way I like them.
@@Resist4 In my experience the broccoli only needs about 20 - 30 seconds on low heat after the bobber valve. Asparagus requires 2 - 3 minutes. Just make sure to steam the broccoli outside. 😀
0 minute setting! I just tried our new instant pot with broccoli and left it on the default 10 minutes. I got what is basically broccoli jam. Thanks for the video.
This video needs more views. God bless whoever programmed the cooking time of the instant pot settings, but the veggies always come out mushy. Setting the cooking time to Zero is not in the manual, and it probably should be
Please, can you tell me how this applies to the newer Instant Pot Duo EVO Plus model that does not have a "0" minutes option? 0 minutes used to work very well for me on my older Duo model.
wow I am new to your channel. caught you over on 6 sisters. I love this Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more of you. also going back to watch order post . be blessed
I have the updated Instant Pot Duo Plus and the lowest time it will do to is 1 minute. 0 minutes is not an option. I tried broccoli today, set for 1 minute and it was overcooked. Help. Thanks.
Thank you for this. I am in Australia and have just purchased the 3QT duo nova model, I love it! But it is very different in cooking veggies than my Tefal EPC which has inbuilt times. This video has really helped me. I am guessing the 0 time will work for my small IP?

I generally season them after pressure cooking, add some oil and put it under the broiler. Soft and creamy on the inside, and flavorful with some crunch on the outside
I'm new to pressure cooking, and I love vegetables, especially steamed. I noticed you didn't mix the vegetables. Can I steam some cauliflower with broccoli and zucchini and green beans, or should I steam them individually? Thank you for the video and thank you for your time.
@@UniquelyGeeky Thank you so much for responding. I didn't figure it out. I did try steaming mixed vegetables, but the zucchini turned to mush. Do you have a tip for me? Thank you again.
@@Kidsevalan No, I’m fairly new to the Instant Pot and air fryer. But I’ll definitely try different ways to cook vegetables together. I’m guessing that it would turn out good to cook broccoli and cauliflower together at the same time and maybe the zucchini, too. But I’m not so sure about adding in green beans to that mix.
@@UniquelyGeeky I wish you good luck. I still have so much to learn about pressure cooking, though I have made veggie soup a few times and it's been very good. :)
Hey Matt, fortunately since the veggies aren't being boiled, they retain their nutrients and lose none of them since they're not physically being cooked in the water. I also don't recommend a steamer basket, but rather the trivet that comes with the Instant Pot. Hope this helps.
Great instructions, new to Instant Pot Awsome method , your steps are very easy to follow especially because there’s no vegetable setting on the instant pot . Thanks so much .
Can someone help? I have the new instant pot duo plus. And it doesn't come with a steamer option. Is there another way to steam? Idk why they decided go take out the steam option out if the new one.
it would be helpful if you would tell us how well done each vegetable is after cooking them. We certainly can't tell from the picture. Some veggies are not that great if they are crunchy or too firm.
There's still a bit of crunch at zero minutes. You will have to experiment on your own to determine the best amount of time. I would suggest you start with one minute of time.
@@karenbellessapeterse I cut it up into big bite size pieces. To water I add a 1/2 tablespoon better than boullion vegetable. Depending if kids are eating depends if I use the basket. I like it emersed in the flavored water. I love you channel. Thanks for all the time you put in it!
Oh no now I've got no excuses for avoiding vegetables;-)
Admire how well edited your videos are; pragmatic, to the point. Thanks Karen😊

I also learned about the 0 minute cooking time for poached chicken from Amy + Jacky youtube channel - delicious.
I have used aero time for broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus and it always works great. Now I know a few other things to use zero time. Thank you.
What is the temperature that plastic can hold up to . What is the temperature of the instapot
Why not just mix all the vegetables together and do one cooking? That's what I would do in a pan on the stove, so it would work with the instant pot.
Indeed, it will, Dan. A timesaver (maybe) is just to use a bag of frozen veg and do the zero minutes.

Okay....but I literally jumped out of my seat when she opened the pressure valve 😱
Man this was awesome. Simplified for a pleb like me :)
Thank you for this video. It really saved me from botching my Thanksgiving Day vegetables! :)
Really excellent vid! I got the info I wanted in a quick video. I didn't have to skip all around the vid. Thanks!
With the zero minute process
Do they come out soft or Al Dente
I prefer Al Dante as I tend to cook for the week and reheat for dinner each night
Excellent informative video. Thanks

How did you get that Godawful sticker off your lid?
Is it ok to put different veggies in at one time - using "0" time?
Yes you can
I'm sure the plastic basket is really healthy LOL, if it isn't stainless steel it's crap and not healthy

What do you do for flavor? Can you add seasoning while it's in the 0 minute process or do you always add after? Thanks in advance

A little hint.. when filming, the light belongs behind the camera not the subject

How much water do you use, you don't say anything about adding water
4 years later and the price has doubled for the steamer basket....

Can you put different types of veg on together please
I was thinking that basket that comes with the duo that is intended for the air fryer could work good for steaming.
I can’t get my insta pot to go to zero. I have the duo plus. So I just do the 1 minute. Any thoughts on this?
Fantastic information! Thank you!

Can you cook multiple veg together
How do I do this on top of a meat dish already in the pot. Put them in something on top?
Take the meat out to rest then add veg, add hot water to speed it up

Normal pressure cooking is by steam - the steam function is just a pre set
Got it for a friend and they loved how tender the meat comes out.
GREAT job!!
Is it zero minutes for eggplant?
What would the time be, reduced or still about 10 minutes, when I use boiling hot water to start?
Lorna J Bartlett the pot would come to pressure quicker so less time

Is the silicone basket BPA free ?
I recommend using the trivet that comes with the Instant Pot, rather than anything else. That basket probably isn't safe for long term use.
I love your recipes! My instant pot lux has a steam button .is there a reason you use the manual button instead of steam?
For these vegetables you can use either the steam or the manual button. I should have said that but forgot :)
