Kento should watch this match again himself. Up against arguably the best player in the world at that time, was behind in the first game, nothing going for him, but he stayed positive and fought on. Needs to rediscover that fighting spirit and mentality.
Most of people might say that LCW lost because he's old, this that etc . But one of the prime reason LCW lost was that KM was responding to every shot LCW y'all can clearly see the frustration in LCW that no matter what he do Nothing was working against Momota Where as LCW is one of the best player in tactics but couldn't do much against KM
Man, lcw was approaching 40 this time yet he almost win the 1st half against the world best at that time. It's like those bloody overpowered old man in anime lol
And just after that tournament Lee chong beat kento momota in two straight sets in the malayasia open 2018, just before he diagonosed with nose cancer. What an incredible athlete he was.
@@abhishekdasgupta1640 incorrect 2018 Malaysia open was before 2018 Indonesia open. Badminton Asia championship which is before Malaysia and Indonesia open, where Momota also beat LCW
This is a fantastic lesson in shot quality and efficiency. Lcw makes less then half the steps of momota. He almost won despite very lacklustre physical shape
You're just saying things. LCW was still in fantastic shape and even at this age, still rarely tired out even in long competitions compared to some of the younger competitors that get tired after 3 sets. You're also not giving enough credit to Momota. His footwork was fantastic (ofc LCW looks like he's gliding across the floor) and it's almost an insult to say Momota is using double the steps. He is certainly not and shows you don't know anything about the technicalities. Footwork is a pattern and at their level, you have a certain amount of steps to take to get to each corner of the court. Momota does not take double the steps (sure he might take an occasional extra step out of balance but LCW does that too). The ONLY thing Momota might take an extra step in is the overhead corner shots which I think he sometimes does. However this is just one footwork pattern. You literally said half the steps which is incorrect. You could say LCW makes it look effortless compared to Momota which is right but saying Momota takes 2x steps than LCW is completely incorrect and shows you are either an absolute beginner or just a casual player with no real knowledge. I'm just amazed you can say such a dumb thing...(I'm going to mute your comment because I know you're going to reply with an equally silly comment).
@@obviouslee7460lol he never said best footwork. Best isnt even real because there could be many different definitions. Someone could be faster but less efficient, someone could be more efficient but lacks adaptability, someone can be smooth but lack explosiveness. Best is subjective. All he said was momota has more efficient footwork than lee chong wei, which is true. Lee chong wei is much more physically capable and athletic than momota. Momota moves fast but looks slow, and thats what efficiency is (just like 2011 lin dan looking like he walks around the court). He doesnt have the shredded muscular body of prime lee chong wei, lin dan, and chen long. His body is soft like taufik (who also had very efficient footwork, but didnt play to the same level as the 3 goats i mentioned), but he keeps up with more athletic people BECAUSE of his efficiency. Thats why you see he cant explode like prime lcw and ld. He'll have to give up efficiency for explosiveness.
Well Lcw is great but the thing you are saying that he has taken less than half the steps of momota is not a skill Actually lcw was really fast to neutralize the rally kento played a short near his body which he could either lift or block which will make kento cover the court but that won't allow lcw to attack, that's a singles strategy, a player cannot get good length on his shots from the centre.
no one had footwork like Momota..just a bible for badminton players.. lcw is fast but mamota made him play according to his pace..thta is also bcs he had no shot that is not his book..
similar to lin dan he waited and waited but also with better foot work.. which is an advantage..and finally when he saw a chance he executed and won the points..
Momota is far behind now. He cannot compete against the top 20 single anymore. Even Axelsen that lose so many time to him already evolve and winning tournaments. Thats why u cant argue the conaistentcy of LCW and LD. Not to forget also Chen Long
This malay guy didnt know what make him cant play well, u guys literally drive him into crash incident n u said he cant be consistent with his play, do u even know he had broken disk that make him do less active play before that accident occurred
