      thanks to you, i tried HylaWipes and love them. yes, the cloth is large, but after wiping my eyes i always use it on my entire face. it's very calming and hydrating -- no irritation whatsoever. i've really noticed a difference in my eyes -- especially when outside: no more tearing because my eyes are too dry. i use them twice a day.

      Dr Eye guy, tea tree oil is harmful to your meibomian glands, why do you recommend it? Doesn't it stay on your eyelids and eyes after wiping with a wipe containing it?

    • @DrEyeGuy

      @Annelie_perhonen5 that was an in vitro study. Also I usually rinse my eyelids if I use anything with tea tree oil in it.

    My eye doctor told me that I had blephoritis and that was why I kept losing so many eyelashes. I recently started using HylaWipes by TearRestore and I love them! They are mild and pleasant to use with no bad smell. You don't have to rinse after using them. They are a generous size and can be used as a facial wipe after cleaning my eyelids. Best of all, my eyelashes are not falling out anymore!

    I recently went to a VA Eye Doctor as I was having issues with my eyes. I was told that I had dry eyes and that I was not getting the needed oils. She prescribed Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium Eye Drops to use 4 times a day. In addition she recommended I use baby shampoo to clean my eye lashes and and a heat mask. Trouble is she didn't tell me how to use either of the additional items, while the drops came with instruction. I tried the heat mask once, but worried that I was cooking my eye balls plus I did it laying down. For the baby shampoo I put it on a damp cotton makeup remover pad and simply wiped my eye lids while closed. I don't know if this method works, but I'm doing it daily. So, this is what brought me to your channel. I'm impressed with your knowledge and presentation skills!

  • @27kjh
    @27kjh 11 месяцев назад +6

    I really like the Blephodex and HylaWipes because they can be used on the go. The Systane is good and more economical but because it needs rinsing, it’s not as convenient. One thing with the HylaWipes the cloth is really big, so it feels to me a bit wasteful. I’d like it if they had smaller cloths and more packages per box.

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 года назад +1

      It is ok to wipe your eyelids.... but if you mean to wipe your actually eyeball, your cornea... then no, you don't want to wipe that. Occasional eye rubbing is ok. Deep rubbing and a lot of pressure, and doing it frequently is when people might get worried about affecting the cornea.

      @@XMegaJuni Ohhh.. gotcha. Yeah, that is strange it made you feel that way. Have you tried any other wipes with tea tree oil in it? I know the stronger concentration ones irritate my eyelids and it lasts for a little while. Maybe it's the tea tree oil?

      @@DrEyeGuy This was my first time trying any eyelid hygiene product. I bought it from their brand because I liked and frequently use their warm compress mask. I think it could have been a strong reaction as my eyes weren’t irritated or anything negative. But it felt like a reaction and I’m cautious to use it again because I don’t know what I’m suppose to feel when putting those ingredients on my eyelids. Would you recommend using another brand that’s been longer on the market or one without the tree oil?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 года назад +2

      Yes, might be interesting to try a wipe that doest have tea tree oil in it just to see if it feels better. Or you can try the foaming wash for the eyelids. That can actually be less irritating on the skin as well. I plan on making a video about that as well.

    • @DrEyeGuy

      I don't, I just use 1 wipe for both eyes. I use one side for one eye, and then use the other side for the other eye.

      I don't think the eye drop recall pertained to these eyelid wipes. That recall was about contaminated eye drops that were all manufactured at one central facility, then branded under several different labels that were sold at discounts as store brands. They were not the reputable, big names in eye drops. Yes, there were some cases of eye infections caused by these contaminated drops, but I am not aware of any deaths that they caused.
