I just got Lectric's Black Friday Deal. The XP 2.0 for $949, plus they threw in the $200 comfort upgrade package (bigger seat, suspension seat post, bike lock, bigger headlight) for free. Total no brainer deal. I've been commuting to work for a week and I love it. (About 7 miles total with a 25 minute subway ride shoved in the middle.)

Great vid. I'm a long time rider and own 2 rovers from rad power bikes 2018 and 2019.
We decided on the lectric xp 2.0 folding for my friend.
As I thought from 26 inch tires to 20 inch and now 3 inch wide which I now use on and off rode during summer would be the perfect set up for her.
Also the electric component settings are just cool. It's her 1st ebike and I can see her experience will be just that... a fun fun experience. Safe.
26 inch fat tires on a high center of gravity simply means this. They drag you cornering. If throttling hard doesn't correct, prepare for impact.

    Great review as usual.
Please note: I bought the original last year. Just sold it for $900, but included many add ons.
    • When I first bought it, I dumped it 3 times in the first 10 minutes. Coming from thousands of miles of road & city bikes, the short turning radius bugged me the entire time I had it.
    • The seat height was the next issue. I was never able to achieve proper leg extension, and have a good distance for my feet to reach the ground when coming to a stop.
The most annoying thing had nothing to do with the bike. I live in the midwest, and NO bikes are safe on the road, due to FAR to many unconscious drivers, and no room on the side of the road. Making me wish I still lived in Calif, where bikes on roads are much more in line with other vehicular traffic. ~end rant
One more not happy thing, the folding pedals. When folding the bike, I had to carry a small hammer, in order to fold & unfold them.

Just received my step through 2.0. Easy set up, took 2 15 mile rides so far, performed very well. Comfortable. I found the max speed peddling geared at 14 to 15mph, which is plenty for me. max 20 mph using throttle max, on a fairly steep hill max at 17 mph. downhill reached 29 mph. Stable ride. Definitely worth the price. I have the mirrors but only placed on left hand side, phone holder and barely enough room left over for a bell. Upgraded the light and added additional lights on both front and rear (I like to be seen). remember to always wear a helmet!

Jeremiah… I think it’s just so wonderful you taping all those videos that is helping out so many of us Lectric new owners or Ebike owners… and I want you to know how much I really appreciate it. Now if you could do something that no other bike youtuber have ever thought of I think you will be like the Super Hero for bike owners who always want to learn but we’re to afraid to ask or don’t know who to turn to.
In the Lectric manual it has a list of what the torque is for the various parts of the bike. So I.m looking at what they are because I don’t know what they are. The internet is great but it doesn’t always explain everything. I just want to see what a disc rotor nut looks like and I end up with how to replace it. I want to see where I adjust the torque on the bike brake and I end up with unscrewing this and tightening this. I just want a picture or film directing me to exact location of that area is so I can torque it like manual suggest not watch a video on how to replace, take it apart or listen to how it works.
Do you or someone you know could do a simple video just showing what these parts look like… a nice simple close up view point to that actual part and that”s it. Basic Dummy 101. I just don’t think I need to spend money to get a bicycle mechanic to do something as simple as learning how to torque your own bike when I think there are people smart enough out there who can teach us. Heck I already learned how to changed a tire. Haven’t done it yet, but if I can do a car I can do a bicycle!!

The Lectric bike is much easier to pedal without any pedal assist than I thought it would be. It's pretty easy to
ride at 10 or 11 mph without any pedal assist if there's not many hills. I do a lot of riding on a regular road bike
and a mountain bike. It's really interesting to see how many ebikes are on the market now.
Also, my Lectric 2.0 XP arrived without a scratch or a dent anywhere, the deraileur worked perfectly, and everything seemed to be working great except for a little spoke noise they got less after a few miles. I was impressed at how well it was packed. Thanks for your videos.

Just a note for regular road and mountain bikers....I wondered how it would be to pedal a 65 pound bike without
the assist of the motor. I was surprised that this bike actually is pretty easy to ride without any pedal assist.....so if you get stuck
several miles from home with an exhausted battery, no problem.

Jeremiah, I have a suggestion. I installed a Mioyoow suspension dropper, remote switch, seat post and a YLG oversized comfort bike seat. They replaced the C9 and suspension post on my standard XP. I REALLY LIKE THIS SETUP. Your wife would really appreciate the comfort difference, as women's bottoms are generally wider than the average man's bird butt. The dropper post allows the rider to drop the height to where they can stand flat footed when stopped and raise up to allow the legs proper extension when peddling, proper height adjustment for different height riders, like your wife or son, on the fly. My knees were bothering me after a couple of miles of having to short stroke peddle without being able to straighten my legs This setup takes the pressure off of my knees and thigh muscles while riding. The seat cradles my butt and is less like riding a rail. The springs on the seat are much more responsive than the C9 springs. I believe the C9's springs were designed for a 200+lb rider and are a bit too stiff for a 170lb rider like me. You produce great videos. Keep up the great work. Sincerely, D. Fish

So glad to see you with your new 2.0 JM! My 1.0 (not a step thru) looks like a bear next to the 2.0. I rode it yesterday for the first time and I really like the agility of the 3" tires, but it sure is smaller. I put a Zoom seat post and a "Fito Made in Taiwan GS Beach Cruiser Bike Bicycle Saddle" and I find it to be more comfortable as you sink into it instead of always being pushed up by the (Bikeroo or Cloud 9). One can spend a lot of money on accessories! I will have more money in add-ons than the cost of the bike but that is OK as it becomes a hobby. Have fun with the new bike. Thanks for the video. Be careful on the chip-and-seal!

Hey Jeremiah. Great video as usual. But i have to give you my opinion. When i bought my Lectric for $799 I was super happy with it. Then they started raising their prices. Then they came out with the step through and that was ok. And now this! I don't like it. Smaller tires, front suspension, different rack and headlight. For a thousand bucks?? Not worth it in my opinion. I still love my original. However instead of a front suspension I'd rather have the suspension seat post and the better seat. For me, all the other extras are things I'll never use. I'm sure there are people who may enjoy the new additions to the 2.0 but I'll still keep my original. I'm 54yrs old and it's perfectly perfect for me. Let's see what 3.0 will look like.. Again great video. 👍👍👍

Thank you for the reply. I am aware of personal preferences. I suggested the dropper post for you because In your videos I could see your knees coming into frame while pedaling, like a little kid riding his tricycle. Experienced cyclists would never ride with their seat that low. That is why many professional cyclists use a dropper post in competition. I realize that due to the geometry of the standard XP the seat must be set too low so your feet can reach the ground when you come to a stop. That was a real complaint I had with my XP, which, except for that, I really like. The dropper post solved that design problem by allowing me to properly adjust the seat height, for riding and stopping, on the fly. I set the seat to proper leg extension height for riding. A push of a lever, mounted on the handlebars, drops the seat height to allow me to put my feet flat on the ground when I stop. When I start to pedal again I push the lever and the seat rises to the correctly set height. On the matter of the extra wide comfort seat. I was suggesting it for your wife, who I believe you said has a back problem. That seat is more comfortable as it gives a notably softer rides, from my personal experience. Also, you should replace the handlebars on her bike with slightly swept back bars to allow her to ride in a more upright position. The more upright you ride the less stress on your back.

Being a newbie you got me lost in your technical talk. I am glad you mentioned the suspension post making you higher. I am already having problems with being the height I need so my knees are not hurting so much. I am use to on a 26 inch my toe tips touching when sitting on the seat but not with this bike. I did have to move the seat back as far as it would go so I was not so directly over the pedals.

We can also replace the fork, but we need you to send us your damaged fork back first, and our warehouse has been backed up and is about 2-3 weeks behind. We would also have made the replacement or take it into a bike shop. This may mean it could be another month before you are able to ride again.
Let us know which you would prefer! Again, the dent will not affect your ride at all, but it is noticeable, and we can replace the forks for you if that is the direction you want to go.

We just got ours about a week ago and we had the same runaway where it would do like you saw, it would stay going for a second or two but then there was sometimes a ghost power a few seconds later. It scared me and my wife a few times bc it would be as we hop over a curb getting into our driveway where it would just start taking off when we were just trying coast and maneuver the bike. It does only happen in PAS 3-5 though. I contacted lectric about it and they said they have been getting some complaints and basically just told me to try making adjustments that have nothing to do with it. for now Ive just told my wife to just start to pull the brake lever slightly to engage the power cut to avoid it but it is not a good thing to have as we do plan to ride some technical stuff offroad and if it does that there it could easily put you into a tree or ditch. Hoping there is some fix for it

Fantastic review, because of you I ordered my Lectric and then upgraded when it became an option and bought some accessories with it! I received my bikes I ordered and currently I’m experiencing a problem with the breaks one set of tires are rubbing and the other set just it’s moving. I can’t seem to get a tool in there to adjust the breaks because the gap between the motor and the adjustment screw is so small its very difficult. I also noticed that the bottom of the seat post is not open allowing you to add the second battery like you could on the original XP? Am I seeing that right? Good video overall Jeremiah. For most there should be a balance in forward lean. Try lowering the handlebars and see how it feels and how it effects control. A vertical back jars the spinal column. A moderate lean forward allows the spinal column to rock and lubricate itself. The Lectric seat is not great and the grips are worse. Both are cheap and easy to change.

Regarding saddle height, and pedaling - with the crank vertical and one pedal at its lowest, your leg should be almost straight, with your knee slightly bent, with the ball of your foot on the low pedal. If you're actually going to pedal an ebike, your riding position is critical to your comfort and efficiency. None of these "reviews" bother to mention proper position.

Can you provide some comparison to the Heybike Mars that you just reviewed? Pros/Cons?

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  3 года назад

Some of the pros of the Lectric is that it is a step through and the minimum seat height is a lot lower which would be better for shorter riders. It can be unlocked to a class 3 E bike and TopSpeed will be faster. 18amp controller vs 15. It seems to be a little smaller when folded. They use good quality Samsung cell in the battery. They also have well known great customer service.
For the heybike bike the PAS levels are more adjustable And customizable. The bike seems like a softer ride overall because of the 4 inch tires, included suspension seat post and softer seat.
Larger battery (but not name brand cells.)
Usb charge port For charging 5v devices.
      Nicer handgrips.
This is just a name a few there are probably many more that I missed On each bike
I would just watch both videos again it should help you understand the differences.

There are so many reviews of the Lectric that are given by professional youtubers who have been given a loaner. @@JeremiahMcintosh First, I enjoyed your video and I am subscribed and I certainly wasn't questioning your integrity. I guess I would like to see more youtubers who own and used it for a few months to hear what their experiences were with the bike and the parts. As I was writing this, you were mentioning the battery was from Samsung. When I previously called Lectric and inquired about the battery brand, I was told there are 3 brands used and there is no guarantee which I would get, Samsung, LG or a Chinese brand which I suspect would be a lot cheaper than the Korean batteries and maybe the battery they mostly use. I don't know if they save the bikes with the Samsung battery to be send to reviewers like yourself. Again, this not under your control but may be a marketing strategy to have people mention the battery brand as you did.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  3 года назад +2

Totally understandable and I have noticed this about the battery in the past two weeks and I have already mentioned it to a few people in some of my comments. It appears that they started shipping bikes with Non Non Samsung/Lg cells and I don’t believe they initially told anyone and then I noticed they stopped advertising Samsung and LG on the website. There was probably a shortage with the Samsung and LG cells and that’s probably why they had to change. Maybe the supplier changed them and didn’t tell them at first ? who knows but it is a bummer.

I tried changing the P11 setting to what you suggest (1) and this behavior got MUCH worse. Setting P11 to 5 or above eliminated this behavior completely on my bike. After playing around with it, I kind of like a P11 setting of 7 as it allows more pedal movement before the motor kicks in, useful on turns and startups and seems to make the overall bike operation smoother. If you want instant response the throttle is always available although I seldom use the throttle.

Hi Jeremiah! Just curious what the bottom bracket height is on this bike. BB height is measured from the center of the crank bolt to the ground. My Ariel Rideal is an astonishing 12.5” high. That is the highest BB height of any of my 7 bicycles and I think is why when I raise the seat up to where it should be to get the most power out of my pedal stroke I can no longer set my feet on the ground without dismounting. But when I lower the seat to where my feet touch the ground when seated my legs feel a little cramped when I go to pedal. It is really weird geometry. I’m still happy with the bike though. I just have get used to pedaling with my legs folded up a little more than I am used to.
