    I am a Stroke Surviver. My right (stroke) foot prevents me from driving yet. A month ago, I purchased my XP2 StepTru. I love it!
    I am no longer House Bound ! I can ride to the market, barber and gym without fear of not having the energy to get home safely. I even have a pet trailer so I can take my Lulu to the Park. Kudos to Vito for this EXCELLENT video. THE BEST Lectric XP2 video I have found. A must view for older riders on a budget.

    Nice job. Just a suggestion. Lithium batteries should only be stored around 50%. If you are not going to use the bike for more then a few weeks make sure to store at lower state of charges. They will last for years if you do that. Leaving at full and very low state of charges is very hard on lithium batteries and will make them degrade much faster. I’m sure you already know that as I believe you have lifepo4 batteries in your trailer, just thought I would leave for others if they read comments.

    • @RVwithTito

      They will also last longer if you only charge them to 80%. Search for Luna Chargers. I have been using one for my ebike for the past two years and they fantastic. You can charge 80,90,100 percent at 1-5 amps. Really helps for a quick charge the times you need it.

    Just started looking at e-bikes and I found your review so well structured, informative and easy to watch. I am EU based, so probably have to settle for something similar.
    BTW, for anyone interested, there is an exact science to adjusting a saddle (not for children).
    Place the bike next to a wall or fence. When you sit on the bike with a peddle arm dead vertical, the peddle in the middle of your foot, your leg should be dead straight. When you ride with the balls of your feet on the peddles, you will have the optimum bend in your knees and the maximum efficiency from your leg muscles. Also reduces the chances of knee damage if the saddle is too low. I was over 50 when I learned this. Made an amazing difference.

    Hi Tito,
    I've been studying these Lectric eBikes for awhile. Thank you for showing a few features I haven't seen other reviewers show;
    The pedal height between the 2 models is important and will sway my decision on with model to buy.
    Showing how the battery is removed/installed is also useful to know plus knowing the 2 bikes take proprietary batteries is a critical bit of information.
    Your thoroughness is greatly appreciated.
    Really Great review. My only comment is you REALY do need both mirrors. Ride in the city much and you'll find many jerks will come up on your blind/RH side and try to get around you at intersections and anywhere there is a right turn.
    People, you can't "Cheap Out" when it comes to saving your life!! Keep your head on a swivel and the rubber on the road.
    1/2 million miles on 2 wheels gives you that kind of intel.
    I've never been a fan of mounting a front basket on a bike, since it will throw off the handling if too much weight is in it, but with the Lectric frame mounted basket, other than the odd illusion that the basket doesn't move when turning the front wheel, that design will not affect the handling at all.
    Brilliant idea , Lectric!!
    Kudo's to "Lectric " the company. Virtually NO Other eBike, that comes to your door in a crate, has local ie US support, let alone parts and/or service availability or support.
    If you live in the West, I bet you could take a road trip to Phoenix, (well, except for the now 3-2022 $6+/gal gas!!) get a tour of the factory and pick up your new eBike right from the source.
    Lectric, in my mind, is the Go To eBike to buy.
    I don't have one yet.
    I ride 4 Currie eZip/iZip/Schwinn eBikes I've restored and upgraded (to Li-ion) but I think I just have to get a Lectric XP 2.0 as well.
    cheers

      Thx for showing the difference between the step-thru & standard model. The step-thru gives up some ground clearance, but doesn't it also give you more leg extension for the same seat height (i.e more efficient pedaling)? I really like the idea of full leg extension AND being able to reach the ground while seated.

    Thanks Tito. Your video stopped me for making a huge mistake. I was just getting ready to buy two bikes. One for me and one for my wife, and I was planning on ordering one step through for her, and the regular model for myself as you see in your video. I weigh 220 lbs, and she weighs 115. Knowing that weight will affect the total distance you can get out of the battery, I was fully planning on switching out the batteries halfway through when going on really long trips so are both have enough juice to make it to the finish line, as mine would run down much quicker than hers. I just presumed that the batteries were the same in both bikes. Your video clued me into the fact that they're not, so I ended up ordering two steps through models instead to make sure the batteries are the same size and will fit into either bike. I never seen any other video review mention it. So thank God I watched yours, otherwise I would of ended up kicking myself after discovering that they are not the same battery in both models. Thanks again!

    Perhaps some additional suggestions/information:
    - After unboxing the XP, make sure to check the tightness of all bolts and hardware and torque them to the specs listed in the manual. If you don't have the tools, your local bike shop can do the job;
    - Our XP came with a bent derailleur guard (common shipping issue) which prevented up-shifting beyond gear 3, so I wrapped a piece of rubber around the guard and straightened it with a longer handled adjustable wrench;
    - Our brake pads needed to be aligned with the rotors to prevent drag and brake noise...easily done with an ball-tipped allen wrench and some patience.
    Frankly, if I didn't have the tools or the inclination, I'd definitely spend the $80 to have my local bike shop check and adjust everything. It's good the start a relationship with a local shop in case you need anything down the road. For involved warranty work, Lectric will sometimes reimburse a local shop instead of having you send the bike back to AZ.
    To acclimate yourself to the geometry of the bike and to make the adjustments necessary for a good fit, I suggest you remove the battery and ride the bike for a few miles without power. Practice making u-turns...always with the pedal up on the side to which you are turning. Then, when you are confident with the handling, braking and turning, reinsert the battery and ride with the additional battery weight in PAS 0 to gain even more confidence.
    Finally, make sure you purchase and wear a good quality helmet!

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  3 года назад

      Great suggestions. Yes. The LECTRIC manual recommends you take it in for a tune up as soon as you get it. I've made a couple adjustments myself and plan to do a brake and gear tune up as well. Ours have actually worked quite well out of the box.

    This is an informative video for people who are looking to purchase their first e-bike. There's a lot of information available on-line and it's easy to get confused by too much information. I've owned my first e-bike for about 20 months and in my opinion, unless you're an extreme biker, there's only a few things that you might consider.
    Throttle: My e-bike has pedal-assist only. Frequently, I have difficulty starting from a standing stop. Starting on even a slight incline or on soft ground can be problematic. I'd say a throttle (and preferably a twist throttle on the handle, as you have shown) is a "must have".
    Step-through: I'm 74 years old and it's challenging for me to lift my leg or twist my hips in order to mount the bike. This is my first step-through style bike and I love it.
    Tires: Although I haven't yet had a flat I've had my share of them with my traditional bikes. E-bikes are heavier to push than traditional bikes and tire repairs are more challenging. In addition, with an e-bike you tend to go further distances and in more remote places than you would normally. So make sure that you have excellent tires that will resist punctures. If I bought a cheaper bike on-line, the first thing I would do is replace the tires with the best quality tires I could find.
    Shock absorbers: My e-bike lacks "shocks". And, even though I don't ride long distances over rough terrain, I'd consider shock-absorbtion good to have (especially shocks on the front).
    What's not really important
    Battery life/range: From any reviews I've seen, at least for well-known brands, range is more than acceptable for the average rider. I happen to get up to 120 km between charges (which, apparently is excellent) but I wouldn't get upset if I got less than half of that.
    Hub drive v mid-drive: Again, unless you are an extreme biker, either technology will suit your purposes.
    Finally, even though I buy a lot of stuff on-line, I wouldn't consider doing that for an e-bike. With all the technology, so much more can go wrong. You will most likely find that the e-bike becomes a necessity and you don't want it to be unavailable waiting for repairs.
    Hope this helps.

    Great review. There's another point to consider about the difference in pedal height to the ground between the two bikes. If the seat is set to the correct height for proper leg extension, you will still probably be able to touch the ground on tip-toes while seated on the step through bike. I can do so on my road bike, where the pedal is 3-3/4" from the ground at its lowest point. You probably won't be able to do that with the non step through bike because the seat will be 1.5 inches higher from the ground. This may not be a big deal to many because e-bike riders seem to prefer the seat to be set lower than the "proper" height, but just something to consider.

    Good review! I have had my XP for 2 years now, and it is monotonously reliable. I have changed out the pedals and the bars to suit me better, but no issues concerning reliability at all.
    If you want the mileage to not reset during stops, go into the settings and change P 04 to the highest setting, which may be NEVER, but it was 2 years ago that I set it, so I'm not certain now. This will keep your trip mileage as long as you leave the power on. You should find it set to 10, which is the factory default.

    I saw a couple of these while doing drone videos down in Fort Myers, FL. I thought the price was great. I decided to build my own ebike. I had the Schwinn 26 in bike and decided to purchase a 1,000 watt rear hub motor and 48v 13 AH battery. Around $600 with a couple additional accessories. Mine is different in that it has a twist throttle like a motorcycle. In fact I can ride entirely without pedaling. Kinda cool. A very slow version of my FJR motorcycle. What I do like about the bikes you are showing, is the folding ability. That really makes transporting them much easier.

    I just bought two step thru 2.0 models primarily since the wife is close to 5'-1". Following a brief explanation of functions I got her started with just peddling to get a feel of the bike. She had not been on her bike for two years. A few minutes later she was shifting gears and using peddle assist 1 and 2. She always complained that I rode too fast and left her behind now I won't hear that comment anymore. Since she may be going faster she asked about ebike specific helmets to which I had no answer other than perhaps a ski/snowboard helmet. Your video is the best I have seen. The only comments I have are 1). the manual says to inflate the tires to the pressure indicated on the tires. For our bikes it states 35 lbs. and 2.) if not using the bike for several days it says on P. 17 of the manual to only charge it up to 75% so that it degrades less. Time to do a ride this week. 😀

    Great job on your review Tito! I like many of your other subscribers have seen many other reviews and yours is by far the best. I have had my Lectric XP 1.0 for about a year now and have about 1700 miles on it. Love the bike! Wife got one as well but when they came out with the 2.0 which has the front suspension she had to have it. So her white ST came and we sold her 1.0 in one day for almost what we paid for it. We get stopped by people all of the time when we are on our bikes asking about them. We do put them in totes and load them into our fifth wheel out of the elements as we travel state to state. Please note that e-bikes right now are a very high theft item so we don’t like to have them on a rack outside our rig for that reason.

    We also found the throttle came into play nicely if you had just stopped for a minute. Use the throttle to get moving rather then peddles.
    Lastly the seven speed part you'll be adjusting up as you use the PAS 3,4,5, modes. Helps with not spinning the pedals like your generating electricity.

    I have an E-bike, but if I had it to do again, I would choose one where the step-through is as low as possible. My bike folds, which is not a feature I have so far needed to make used of. The high step through has often proven to be an issue when needing to mount and dismount quickly. I do like the idea of chuncky tires rather than standard kind. A local cycle repair shop, which specializes in commuter bikes is a great resource for electric bike repairs, they also offer free pick-up and delivery, and charge surprisingly little for repair services compared to other bike repair stores in town. One of which charges and extra $200.00 if one's bike was not purchased from them. The majority of bike shops have no clue when it comes to electric bike repair. There is also inexpensive insurance for electric bikes that can be purchased online. I make it a point to never leave my bike unattended even with a strong lock.Having it registered with police is also a good idea, to be able to prove ownership.

    Wow! One of the best demo videos of any kind that I have ever seen. I appreciate all the detail on how to use and start the bike. I especially like the 50 gallon tub recommendation for the back of my equinox. I feel like this will be the better way for me to put it in the back for travel rather than the willy-nilly shove it in there. Thank you very much.

    You brought up some good points I had not thought about and I was thinking about these E Bikes for my wife and I: #1, The batteries being different between the two body styles.( I assumed they would be the same) and #2 The pedals being lower on the step through. These two issues might lead me to get two of the same model depending on my wife's ability to get on to the taller one. If I have to ride the step through at 6'2" and 210 pounds then that's what I will do. Luckily, I am secure in my manhood. Lol I prefer the higher ground clearance for our gravel road but we won't be doing a lot of high speed turning. We are both in our sixties. It was a very good video; very broad and specific. Thank you. Ray
