      I liked the controller better on my 2.0. I like to ride at about 10-12 mph but on an incline, I need the extra boost from the throttle. Same when you are starting from a stop. Nice to have that initial boost. But you cannot get it in PAS1. I find that I am using the PAS control more like a throttle. I wish They would allow full current at all PAS settings. Also, the PAS settings are not evenly spaced. PAS1=10mph; PAS2=15 mph; PAS3 = 18mph, PAS4=19mph and PAS5=19mph. As I said, I liked the controller on my 2.0 better than my new 3.0

      3.0 is a scam...the bike throttle only is way slower than the 2.0 and feels like the motor is going to die when going up hill. The 2.0 is a better bike..don't waste your money.

      @LoLHahaLolHahaLol 9 месяцев назад

      @@davidbourne8267 is it because the bike is heavier? I noticed the 3.0 has a higher weight capacity? With the same engine?

    • @ReesePeterGriffith
      @ReesePeterGriffith 9 месяцев назад

      I agree, I wish I had not sold my 2.0 I liked the controller better. With my 3.0, it is fine if you just want to go fast, but if you want to go slow, say 10mph on an incline, forget it. @@davidbourne8267

    The free Hydraulic Disc brakes were a subtle way of hiding that there was a recall on the the 3.0. the brakes that came with the bike were recalled due to reports of failure resulting in several injuries. Saying that, the bike as well as the company is a very good deal. I still wish that they moved the position of the key. It is really annoying to have to fiddle around to find the key hole. Ride 1up, also has a comparable e-bike called the Portola.

    Just bought the extra range XP 3.0 & used your links. 🎉🎉🎉
    Have been reviewing affordable eBikes for the past month, riding VEO eBikes around town where I live, even tried a Jetson HAZE, from Costco, which I quickly returned.
    Your videos help me make the most informed decision combined with your wonderful Midwestern accent and rides around a town that reminded me of the western Chicago suburb. I grew up in years ago, always nice.
    Thanks for such great videos and guidance.
    Hope I can maintain it on my own for the most part, have your video saved on adjusting hydraulic brakes to check everything when it arrives

    Great review. We have two 1.0 Step Thru's and may upgrade soon. But even the earlier 1.0 model are terrific bikes. My senior husband and I found the totes to be a bit much lifting each bike twice to load into the car - once to load the bike into the tote and then the tote w/bike into the car. We gave up on the totes and now both lift the bikes together just once to the car as they are heavy on your back to lift twice. Wouldn't be an issue if we were younger.

    Great bike for the price. This brand was suggested to me, but I'm not a fan of the glossy paint and twist throttles. Plus I like to have rear suspension. This is definitely a good introductory Ebike that doesn't break the bank.

    Bought myself the step through long range one last week and it came in two days ago. I’m somewhat experienced on regular bikes but had never rode on an Ebike before, and boy was it fun after the first 2 minutes of adjusting to the different behavior. I seem to prefer pedal assist 1-3. About my only complaint with this bike is how loud those brakes are.

    I bought two 3.0’s in December and January so have the mechanical brakes and previous controller. Not long ago I also bought the Trike. Besides the hydraulic brakes, the controller must be the same that is in the new 3.0, other than the speed limiter. I like the pas step up in throttle.

    Enjoyed your video.
    Purchased my Lectric XP 3.0 step-thru long range ebike back before the upgrades......like the end of May of this year.
    Lectric sent an email stating that I could order the FREE upgrade and following that the FREE new PWR Module.
    As of this writing my FREE upgrade is heading my way which will consist of a front tire and tube with a new wheel with the rotor and hydraulic brake all attached with just the rear caliper hydraulic brake system.
    When Lectric sends the email for the PWR Module I will then order that FREE upgrade.
    Cool ebike and a top shelf company that stands behind their product.
    I'm enjoying my bike a lot.
    Put a Cloud9 seat on my bike and it's super comfortable.
    Water bottle cage with water bottle.
    Also a screen protector from Esty.
    Going to put a bell on at some point too.

    I purchaed my 3.0 in December of 2022. I want to first state how much fun this bike is to ride when everything works. However, I just got it out of the shop today after spending $180.00 for repairs. Here are the issues I have delt with. I am on my second battery after the first one failed to hold a charge for ten minutes after about 600 miles. When it did work, it never lasted past about 20-25 miles no matter what settings it was on. The second battery has lasted a little better. The bike now has 2000 miles on it and I get close to 30-35 miles on a single charge. I got the updated brake system and had it installed at a Lectric recommended shop and also replaced the tires at around 1200 miles. The reason it was back in the shop was to replace the replacement rear brake assembly and hydraulic line as the line failed and leaked all over the assembly.I had to replace the rear tire for the second time as it was worn out at 800 miles. I am 67 years old, 6ft and 220 lbs and only ride on the street. Has anyone else had tire wear issues? In September, I got an email from Lectric stating they would be reimbursing people for the cost of the brake changeover. I replied asking if I was elligible for for this and also called them. I'm still waiting on an answer. In 10 months of ownership, I have spent almost $300.00 for what I feel should be warranty repairs, worn out tires and brake adjustments and replacement of replacement warranty parts. Time to shop for a new bike. The cost of ownership and maintenance is too high for this bike.☹

    I had been looking at Lectric XP 3.0 for awhile and decided to order through your link. We got two step throughs with all the accessories including the cart for our dog. I opened the first box and put the bike together and declared it my wife’s bike. Then I opened the second and it became “mine”. Well the first has had zero issues, but “mine” has had numerous problems, beginning with the derailleur. It was noisy and would not shift into first gear. After watching several videos on adjustment, I was able to set the limit screws, but it still wouldn’t shift up and down through the gears without hanging up somewhere in the middle gears. After hours of tinkering and rewatching videos, I got it to work, but still noisy. Then after riding for a couple of days (7 miles total) I found the rear tire entirely flat and off the rim. It wasn’t a pin hole, when using an air compressor to fill the tube, the air rushing out of the tube was louder than the air going in. It was ruptured. Since then I have viewed numerous videos of flat tires, especially Lectric XP’s and usually the rear tire which is the hardest to repair. Even Lectric’s website seems to indicate a problem with burrs from the spoke nut causing these problems. Oh, and there was NO SLIME PRESENT in the tire as claimed in their advertising and all the Reviews I watched. Not particularly happy with QC at Lectric.

    **WOOP*🚓*WOOP** Sir, do you know why I pulled your bicycle video over? Caught speeding on YT. 😆 I've been looking for an ebike and I think this checks all the boxes. I rode my brother's ebike and it was a blast but I would never be able to fit it in my place or transport it with my vehicle. With this I can do both and with the ability to unlock it I can keep up with my brother's bigger bike. Thanks for the video (and the one with your dad unboxing this model), good stuff.

    Just bought two of the 3.0 step throughs for my wife and I with a ton of accessories for not much more than I would've paid for one Aventon. Aventon is a sexy looking machine, but we would've been close to $4K for two of them (probably over with accessories). Lectric had them on a sale for $950/ea including a pair of waterproof panniers, upgraded headlamp, and the all important bell. We added the comfort package seat/seatposts on both - huge difference. We also added a phone holder, lock, and large rear basket to both bikes. (Whew!). We haven't put too many miles down at this point due to weather and work, but so far what we have done has been an absolute blast. I have a trailer for the grandkids attached to mine that my granddaughter loves riding in! My only gripe so far is that with the large basket on the rear the bikes don't fold up quiet as narrow as without it (roughly 2" wider) - making finding a tote that will accomodate a bit of a hassle. When I finally find one that works well I'll update my comment with the brand/size. Great review!

    Horrible horrible idea to limit throttle when in lower PAS. So I am trying to cross a busy road, at full stop in PAS 1 or 2 and I am limited in throttle power?? Just stupid. Deal breaker, decided to not get a 3.0. keeping my 2.0 until they revise that feature. Thanks for the heads up. Lectric lost a sale. Hopefully not forever

    I have both 2.0 & 3.0 in LR ST. I am extremely disappointed with my 3.0 not being able to have full throttle on assist level 1 or 2. I would teach people to take off with the throttle then pedal. But now the 3.0 has to be on pedal assist 3 or higher to get the throttle to go full. SO now when you take off in level 1 or 2 the bike has very little power, 2 amps in level 1 to get going with the throttle. It almost gets stick in the grass, its got NO take off power anymore. You can see in this video he is working to keep his balance starting out, cuz it don't get going. Nothing like the 2.0. I like teach a new ridder to start out on level 1. Not have them flying on level 3 when they start peddling just staring out. There is no way to change this throttle problem. I talked to Lectric & was told the new controller PWR can not be changed to get full throttle in level 1 or 2 anymore. Has to be on level 3 or higher. EVEN on leve 3 you don't get full throttle power. This just bites a deal buster!! Had my 3.0 for 3 days & looks like I will be selling it. Yes the 3.0 bike rides better than the 2.0 & the brakes are better but the new controller bites on the 3.0. Unless you bump to level 3 or higher, when you take off with the 3.0 bike it is now ballsless. Same for coming to a hill in level 2. Hitting the throttle does nothing! You have to quickly bump to assist level 3 so you have throttle control. This just bites. Love my 2.0 but not this dog 3.0. My 2.0 will do donuts, spinning the back tire. My 2.0 climbs hills faster & has more power, will run circles around the 3.0. This 3.0 has no power compared to a 2.0. Maybe if you did not know the difference it would not matter. I recommend looking for a used 2.0 forget this 3.0 it's a boat anchor.

    Hello,
    Nightmare with Lectric XP 3.0. My bike came with a pre-popped rear tire, plus it won't start. I called and I asked about returning the bike when I spoke to someone on the phone shortly after receiving the bike. They did not mention that I only had 14 days to return the defective bike (not starting and flat rear tire). Instead of explaining the policy I was sent replacement parts which of course take time to get to me. By the time I received the replacement parts and installed them and the bike still doesn’t work I was past the 14 day period. Good customer service would have been to mention this policy to me when I asked about returning the bike. I have waited for over an hour just to talk with someone so I would expect to be given all the information I need after waiting so long. It appears that I may not have any option to return the bike at this point. It is completely impossible to send the bike back in it’s original packing materials per their policies on returns. You have to cut those materials off in order to unbox the bike. There is no way to remove it so that it would still be in tact. This policy is simply to make it more difficult to return defective products along with the completely arbitrary 14 day return policy. By sending me replacement parts and not mentioning this policy Lectric deprived me of my right to return the bike. Apparently I am not able to return my defective Lectric bike. Don't do it. Just don't. The Angryunboxer.

    I bought this bike with long range battery and high step thru in July 2023. I also got the comfort pkg with the big seat. It came with the hydraulic brakes.
    First eBike for me and I actually haven't even ridden a bicycle for over 30 years. I like the bike a lot but it does have a couple of things I don't care for. In fact, I'm wondering if there may be something wrong with it.
    First, there is a huge difference between PAS 1 and PAS 2. Big jump in power, which I don't like. The increase in power from 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 is all gradual like you might expect, but the jump from 1 to 2, as I said, is large. Is this how it's supposed to be?
    Second, I've ridden one other eBike and its throttle would give you up to full power no matter the level of pedal assist at that moment. Not so with the Lectric. It's based on current pedal assist. I'm not a fan at all.

    I've had poor luck with our two XP 3.0s as well as Lectric CS. The mechanical brakes are horrible (known issue). They supposedly notified XP 3.0 owners offering free hydraulic upgrade kits. We were never notified about the offer. Unfortunately, Lectric is no longer honoring this offer. The mechanical brakes (even the ones sent via a recall) are still horrible - and unsafe. I tried a few days ago and they refused to make good on this even though my wife and I bought 2 XP 3.0s in January - obviously AFTER the company was in the process of re-designing the brakes to hydraulic - yet still no help. Lectric customer service was not at all helpful...sorry we bought Lectric brand.

I just took my first ride today, and it was amazing! I got enough excerise with the fun of the motor!

    Excellent starter bike at a competitive price but must get a UL listing. If Lectric won’t get their bikes certified, why should anyone else? I personally much prefer larger 26x4 tires as they are much more comfortable and handle obstacles much better than 20x4s. For short people, women, and older people with mobility issues, the little tire bikes are more accessible. My other observation is the small battery size relative to the competition. The Vitilan U7 is $1200 but with a 16ah battery and a much more powerful 750watt nominal motor and a 25amp controller, it can pull 1300 watts peak. Lectric probably has better after sales support, but you are still on your own for actually fixing the bike even if they mail you the parts for free. With China imploding economically right now, expect even lower prices on bikes next year. If I was working for an e bike company, I’d be putting my resume together, not advertising on CNBC trying to go public in this environment.

    • @mcouture8169
      @mcouture8169 10 месяцев назад

      Good question. If you go back to around 10:40 - 10:50, you'll see "P22" has the option to set PAS speed restrictions to the "P8" (max speed) setting instead of restricted. I would imagine that it would apply to throttle as well, but good question to clarify.

    • @lauriej4597

      No, we changed the P22 setting and it made no difference in the throttle acceleration. It’s extremely disappointing as my 2.0 is much more fun for the riding we want to do. In fact, the lack of throttle power is dangerous at intersections.

Timers, smart switches can also be of help here. And of course buy from reputable brands.

    Throttle tied to PAS level makes no sense. The twist throttle lets you go as fast or slow as you want at 5. Worse, if you are in pas 2/3 and hit a hill, you can't just bump the throttle for help and now PWR is not increasing the help on the hill either.
