- This film deals with difficult and controversial issues around sex and sexuality. 'Hand Angels' is a small Taiwanese NGO that advocates for what it calls sexual rights for disabled people. It has volunteers who have provided sexual 'help' for a small number of disabled people. Speaking as a disabled person this is a wonderful idea! When I became disabled 12 years ago one of the most challenging things was finding love. Thankfully I'm married now but there were many lonely nights turned into months and into years. This can help many people feel connected and alive again. Bravo!

I work with people with disabilities as a carer, or PCW, and these people give their time and bodies to those who need this basic part of being a human. For free. No words can describe how brave and kind they are for doing what they do. God knows, I couldn't do it! (Touchphobe and too shy.) Good on them.

Kudos to these folks! Unless you've worked in the medical field like I have, and worked with quads or para's with limited arm or hand use; you'd never know this was a thing. But most of these people who are also dealing with severe depression, would never talk about their sexual needs to their caregivers. (If their caregivers aren't a spouse, girl or boyfriend). I applaud my ex-sister-in-law who's a neuro social worker and recognized this was a problem probably 30 years ago. Much to the dismay of her Christian conservative co-workers, (who's response was " tell them to pray about it and ask God to take those feelings away"), she formed social events with both abled and disabled clients, and support groups where they could all talk about how they handle these very real problems.

These people have mental & erogenous stimuli, that needs addressing, else this could be unbearable for them, stop thinking its prostitution, theyre addressing a medical need, their mental depression could drive them to suicide.

And I have had plenty of offers of company over the years but there's always appalling barriers in the way. I just need someone decent and civilised who I can be on equal terms with but they're well nigh impossible to find as they're shut away out of sight and never anywhere online, not in my experience.
I just watched a video of a man and woman needing help like this. They are both in wheelchairs and a couple. Their aids help with as much as they can but they had to pay to help with sex. It was costing over 350 dollars everytime they wanted to have sex and just couldn’t afford it anymore. It was heartbreaking because it was causing them to fight etc. I hope they got the help they need. It made me realize how lucky I am to just be healthy.
I wouldn't make this service, but I respect who does it .

If you deny sexual expression to human beings, cut them off from that aspect of their personalities and of their happiness, then you end up with a lot of very frustrated and very unhappy people.
I do feel bad for disabled people when it comes to finding love. I can imagine how difficult it can be for a lot of them to find someone who will accept them. I think prostitution should at least be legal for people who are disabled. As humans, we all need love.
I have respect for this cause. I am disabled. Sex is not on my list of happy things. I keep this to myself, and it always feels like the medical community offers options for everything. So many have no option. I hope this goes viral in order to connect people together. It is not about privilege. Never was. It is about the unprivileged, the 50-year-old who has never left his bed, the 30-year-old who has no arms. Never been kissed, never loved. Those are who are unprivileged. Not based on color. Based on disability. Never loved, never kissed, but these days left as dead. WHO ARE YOU? I Know this pain. I live it. Love only happens with engagement of those who we do not see because they can't, not because they do not have so much love to give! It is impossible to go look!~ I digress. It is difficult, but worth time investing. to see, meet and find. Bodies maybe broken, but the love they give may remain the greatest ever written. i wish the founder of that volunteer sex service would see your comment. I get his compassion but not all disabled/abled people NEED sex. Generally, that service would be a one-time thing, making it difficult for disabled people to find the same experience on a long-term level.
But what is the definition of disabled? Does it include mental disabilities? Social anxiety? Obesity?

I wish more people like her used and thought of the word "sex right" in that manner. It's not the angry rejected incel way of using it. But with compassion and understanding that while not necessary to directly survive yourself it is a vital part of the way we are technically built to not feel alone and isolated.

@@kaiyodei Not quite sure if you are being serious or not, I think in the cases of incels, first of obviously it needs to be in a clinic of voluntary people. But I don't think it would be good for an incel who has anger and depression because of it to just use escorts. What they would need are to go to a sex therapy clinic which also provide sex surrogates. But it should not be the goal to end up having sex with the surrogate. The best result would be to deal with shame and insecurities that comes with not knowing how to pleasure a woman. And then be able to use that to try and get a girlfriend. But since men need practice unlike women who don't have that problem. Realistically most over 35 would probably need to use the surrogates because so few women are willing to take the time to teach a man without experience. There is a reason why you have such big extremes between men, either men will have a lot of sex because women want men that have been successful with other women. While 1/3 of men at 30 are virgins and roughly half will only ever have sex with 1 girlfriend.
It's why I worry about sex robots becoming too good. They would be excellent teaching tools if they could be built in a way that responded like the human body. Giving men time to practice without shame or pressure. But what is going to happen is just like incels now replace dating with porn, once the robot feel real and can tell the guys exactly what they want to hear. Probably 50% of men will stop developing any social dating skills whatsoever. Since you remove rejection but the real kicker, no more insecurities or fear of not making a move at the wrong time since most men, unlike what you hear. Do not want a woman to feel scared and pressured into sex.
We don't even want to try and kiss before we know for sure it's what the woman want.
The cruel truth is able bodied people won't even look at someone who is disabled if they do just to pity them. Here in America law would find this illegal, or in some cases a felony of molestation someone who was disabled. Disabled people in America are the most discriminated group in the 21st century I have seen it personally where employers do 180 after seeing someone more then qualified for a job turned down once they show up for a interview.

I've read some silly comments on this thread, but this one takes the cake so far.
Obviously, being disabled does not preclude you from being charged with any crime, whether it's solicitation or murder- nor should it. They're not "hiding" anything by calling themselves a charity, they're an organization run off of donations and grants, with a stated mission (usually in the form of a mission statement) dedicating themselves to providing some service free of charge to the recipient, which is pretty much the textbook definition of what a charity is. So, how are they "hiding" or obfuscating anything by calling themselves a charity? Quite easily, we can see they aren't doing any such thing.
Yes, I'm sure that in the sex trade, a free sexual favor has been referred to as "charity" before, but I'm also sure it's been called a "freebie" as well, among a plethora of other terms. What insight are we supposed to draw from your statement? That because sometime, somewhere, an unpaid sex act by a prostitute was called "charity," and because this organization is a charity, there's a nefarious connection between the two? Give me a break.
The men and women doing this are not prostitutes. They're not being paid to have sex; they're not being paid at all. They're providing an important and developmentally critical experience to people who otherwise might go their whole lives without experiencing. They're doing it because they understand the complex suffering of the disabled and are enlightened enough to participate in something that helps and heals people, regardless of the religious rhetoric and privileged judgements people like you throw around.

Disability is NOT all "white sticks and wheelchairs". I'm absolutely sick and tired of the wheelchair being so repeatedly used a standard symbol of disability. We don't all use wheelchairs! Here in the UK at least only about 10% or less of disabled folk use wheelchairs, what about the other 90-odd percent who don't?! And they think this is "controversial"? How about controversial disabilities like far more severe misophonia, and severe HEAT intolerance? They don't know what controversial is, why don't they interview ME?! I'll show them controversial! And I bet the place where all this "assistance" happens is a totally intolerable madhouse, just like a typical pub or restaurant etc., or any other so-called "social" hub. What if you can't go to any such place because of all the NOISE?! THAT is controversial!

If America had this service, especially for men with depression, the suicide rates in America would go waaaaay down! While Korea is providing sexual services for disabled people for free and making them happy, America is charging men $35 a month for dating sites and making them miserable (while making sex illegal).

My entire thing is this... People are so worried about a woman's rights to decide what is and is not best for her body( abortion) . But, when it comes to something as simple and not harming anybody else, they're not allowed to "sell " their body for prostitution. Now, this is prostitution, selling sex of any kind for money, items,etc. BUT, isn't it HER decision? This really would benefit MANY people!
