Nice stuff uncle knackers, and it was fantastic to see you have an easier day with the plastering team on point. It's really looking great mate. Good on ya, cheers.
I've hung and taped 1000's of feet of drywall in my day, and much of it by myself using a panel lift. I can't wait to see how they go about the finishing and if they use stilts too. From what I can see on the video, they have so far done nice clean job.
GREAT progress Shane. If you are going to do a complete house, definitely hire it out. I tried to help the guys move some 12 foot drywall into my office - that was a mistake. I was done after 6 sheets. Keep up the good work and success to you!
+Sebastopolmark Thanks Mark. Yeah l didn't have a hope in hell of doing all this work myself. Like l said….it took four professionals 10 days! Cheers mate
shaneconlan1 , Good to hear mate. Yeah the head is ok, cant go to crazy these days with the little ones up at the crack of dawn :) All the best for 2016!
Awesome! Jeepers, I can't say I've ever seen 14's done for the lids before but then again I've never worked in a crew of 4 D: Very impressive! Using stilts is something that I haven't really seen either, but makes complete sense when you see it. And that autofeed, eh? I couldn't imagine going back to doing lids without it haha It's always interesting seeing the difference between the building process in Australia and Canada what with the materials used. I'm loving this entire series and I'm really glad you're doing it. A big cheers from Canada, looking forward to the next video.
+Ryan Bent Thanks Ryan! Sorry about the late reply but l've just had the week off. Autofeed is all the go. I don't know how they did it without them. All the best for the new year mate
+alex maakt Thanks Alex. Yes mate the sandpit survived :-) I had to leave it there so that when Billy came to work with me he had somewhere to play :-) Thanks for watching. Cheers
Enjoyed watching this series of videos. Never likely to build a house but there are still good tips here worth noting. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Uncle Knackers.
the first sheet of plaster went up, did you see the holes in the roof without any sealing compound, heat will transfer through these gaps as fast as can be, again, thermal imaging will show you all the flaws, but its best to get it right in the first place
+shaneconlan1 Happy new year to you and the family, hope you got that new roller & cutting-in brush you always wanted for Christmas ;). Looking forward to seeing it in one of the 2016 videos.
Mate I cant believe the size of those sheets, over here we only have them in 8`x4` big sheets would have made my job easier when I done mine. Well your cracking on great, it`s really coming together well until the next one, later my colonial cousin I'm off for a beer!
+Brandon Luxton Back at ya Branden! Sorry about the late reply but l've had a technology break over the xmas week off. All the best for the new year mate. Cheers
Hey knackers The last sheet they put up at the end why did they put a small piece right in the middle and not at the end? now they have a non recessed edge to trowel up in the middle?
Hey Shane, it makes sence to hire the boys who "know how" . Again, like the roof, its done quick and correctly. Now I'm not saying you couldn't do this, but how long would it take , and how would the "back" feel when you were done. Good grief! looking good.
+billfromelma Well Bill it took four professionals, 10 full days to finish it and they were 10 pretty big days. I can't imagine doing it myself plus the boys do it with minimum wastage and the finish is far superior than if l was to do it. Cheers mate
+Roy “Grandpa Fish” May Yeah the boys are pretty good Roy. No need for the poly vapour barrier over here mate……makes things a little easier. Cheers mate
Those lads made that look too easy, love that screw gun they were using, wonder how much they retail for?I could do with one of them. Looking good now Shane, it's getting there.Take Care, Barry (bazza) from England.
+Barry Roberts G'day Bazza. They are great little tools and sell for around $700.00 here in Australia with a 3 A Hour battery kit. Thanks for watching mate :-)
+Barry Roberts there these by the looks of it www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Makita-DFR550Z-18V-LXT-Li-ion-Cordless-Auto-Feed-Screwdriver-55mm-DFR550RF-DFR55-/301737542553?hash=item4640f58399:g:51EAAOSwEeFU5bAK Fantastic tools while they run smoothly. but when they start jamming don't just keep trying and eventually throw it across the room. find the problem (usually just the little metal nib has slipped up a little or surprisingly a lot of people try to use it in reverse) once you have found the problem sort it out..... the amount of people who refuse to use them because "it kept jamming" and claim they can do it quicker individually.......... well they haven't won a race yet :)
+shaneconlan1 the 3Ah are bad news, full of faults. the 4Ah are the best value for money i feel ATM...that is assuming we are talking about Makita. what length were those boards? looks like 4.8 from your joists :o you crazy Australian basta**s As for the build, looking great Knackers
+Barry Roberts it all depends how much you hate plaster boarding. personally I'm not a fan and i will swear by my auto feed gun because it does get it over and done with quicker. although i understand it is a fairly big outlay for one job. if your going for the single screws have you tried these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pack-of-10-Hilka-DryWall-plasterboard-screwdriver-bits-with-depth-stop-PH2-/171358222373?hash=item27e5bef825:g:HGAAAOSw-ndTnCmm stops a lot of tear throughs with an impact driver :)
Nice stuff uncle knackers, and it was fantastic to see you have an easier day with the plastering team on point. It's really looking great mate. Good on ya, cheers.
+James Blanton Don't worry James…..l was happy to have the boys on site as well :-) Appreciate the comment mate :-)
I did this same remodel in 2013 - took 6 months. Glad you are doing it and not me.
I've hung and taped 1000's of feet of drywall in my day, and much of it by myself using a panel lift. I can't wait to see how they go about the finishing and if they use stilts too. From what I can see on the video, they have so far done nice clean job.
+kperellie Are you a plasterer mate? The boys did a great job. Cheers
GREAT progress Shane. If you are going to do a complete house, definitely hire it out. I tried to help the guys move some 12 foot drywall into my office - that was a mistake. I was done after 6 sheets.

Wow, it is going to be awesome. And you still have room for the sandpit ;-) Great job uncle.
+alex maakt Thanks Alex. Yes mate the sandpit survived :-) I had to leave it there so that when Billy came to work with me he had somewhere to play :-) Thanks for watching. Cheers

Mate I cant believe the size of those sheets, over here we only have them in 8`x4` big sheets would have made my job easier when I done mine. Well your cracking on great, it`s really coming together well until the next one, later my colonial cousin I'm off for a beer!

Hey knackers
The last sheet they put up at the end why did they put a small piece right in the middle and not at the end? now they have a non recessed edge to trowel up in the middle?
Looks great =) Thanks for sharing =)
+Veronica Thanks Veronica :-)

Real pro's there...good job......No poly vapor barrier on that fiberglass insulation? Can't get away with that here.
+Roy “Grandpa Fish” May Yeah the boys are pretty good Roy. No need for the poly vapour barrier over here mate……makes things a little easier. Cheers mate

+The Construction Channel Thanks for that info, seen the price as well think i'll stick to my impact driver. Thanks again. Barry.
+shaneconlan1 the 3Ah are bad news, full of faults. the 4Ah are the best value for money i feel ATM...that is assuming we are talking about Makita.

stops a lot of tear throughs with an impact driver :)
hi Shane the boys done a good job the house is coming on good
+david clarke They certainly did David :-)
That was a large pile of ceiling board there, and it was all carried in one piece at a time, no fun there.
+woodturningjohn Mate, that was a real labour intensive job. The boys do a good job.
Did they screw the sheeting onto the metal channel thingies?
Massive sheets, by the way!
+Roland Rebbel (Ro) Yeah Roland they do. Those big boys were 6 metres long. :-)
+shaneconlan1 Thanks, Shane.
Great job!
is back blocking not a legal requirement where you're at mate?
That's right
I want uncle knackers to plaster my house !
G'day Brendan..glad you liked the vid mate 👍😁
Those long sheets don't seem to be worth the cost of all the extra labor needed to handle and install them.
+JWB671 Less drywall mud equals way less labor.....most of the labor on dry wall is in the mud and tape.....
+Roy “Grandpa Fish” May Spot on Roy. Thanks for answering for me.
+shaneconlan1 Sorry shane couldn't help myself.....just an old construction worker here.....
