Happy New Year. Really interesting seeing the difference in drywall installation as opposed to here in canada- no glue, all sheets screwed in. Another great Video.
+Marc Deo Thanks Marc. Different countries, different standards and materials l guess. Thanks for watching and make sure you stat tuned for the next ep. Cheers
no worries! We all get real busy..... very happy to have watched this one, glad to hear there's some more in the bank. good luck, good stuff, great workers make it look easy and we both know its not.
+woodturningjohn John, the 3 metre wall height makes a real difference. It's well worth the effort and extra cost. Cheers mate and thanks for watching.
Happy New Year Shane to you and your family.Your house is coming along nicely now, wont be long now before it's party time lol.Take Care Mate, Barry (Bazza) from England.
G'day Shane, I know this video is old news now, but I'm still going through the series when I get time. I always have been a bit slow! Do you remember why they screwed some sheets and nailed others? I would absolutely love to have one of those collated screw guns but can't justify it at the moment. One day. FWIW I've found that if I hang sheets by screwing the edges and not putting temporary fixing in the centre, the adhesive holds the sheets out in the centre, and the wall won't be truly flat. After fixing I push a straight edge against the sheet and it will squish the stud adhesive out if it's proud. I believe CSR recommend a couple of temporary fixings for the same reason.
I don't think we typically use glue in the states, but not a drywaller so may be wrong. Liked the marking of studs Jeff did. Glad your back and wish you all the best in 2016.
+MRrwmac Yeah l'm not sure what you guys do over there. If you don't use glue there will be a whole lot of patching to be done. All the best to you and your family too mate. Cheers
+Geoffrey Brooker No one over here does that Geoff and we never have any problems. It's not even recommended by the plasterboard (drywall) manufacturers, Cheers mate and thanks for watching.
Happy New Year Shane. Wish I'd seen that gyprock pencil before I did ours. Much classier than pencil, broom handle 'n lacky band. I learnt something tonight. Thanks. Its in the memory bank for the next reno. Its looking great.
Happy New Year Uncle Shano Knyackers!! Big year in store for you and the fam eh! Great stuff mate! on a sombre note, it saddens me to see a dude of Geoffs vintage having to work in a great country like ours but great to see the old codgers got a slick trick or two for the up and comers :)
G'day Uncle knackers, merry christmas and happy new year mate, i hope you and the fam had a ripper time. Well, it certainly is coming along 'eh, when do you plan on finishing ? Anyway, good to see you back at mate, and i'll be looking forward to more. Cheers
+James Blanton Mate we had a great time. All the best to you and yours too James. Hopefully we'll be in within a month……l said hopefully :-) Stay tuned as l have a heap of videos stacked up! Cheers :-)
Not sure why you hang from the floor up? Seems that unless you are going to install crown molding you have an issue taping the rather large gap at the ceiling joint.
+HMWRKS G'day HMWRKS. We start from the floor in those rooms where we are installing cornice / crown molding. The only room in the house that we are square setting was the living room. Cheers.
+Marty Daley Happy new year to you too mate! Yeah l had to give it a bit of a trim…..l couldn't see :-) I resisted for as long as possible but l had to succumb :-) Cheers mate
+cammy470 No such thing as a stupid question Cammy. It's actually a pretty good one. You don't want to have any glue within around 300mm of any fixture (nail or screw). The reason being that the glue can contract and if you have a nail or screw near that dob of glue it will pop through the face of the sheet when the glue contracts which you don't want. Hope that makes sense. Cheers
+komandrew Using glue is standard practice over here. We screw, or nail every stud around the perimeter but apply dogs of glue in the middle of the sheet as you can see in the video. Have a good one and thanks for watching. Cheers
Hey Shane as for the plasterboards, why did you create a plate on the bottom? (board doesn't touch the bottom, instead sitting on the plates) why is that important? sorry for a shitty comment.
+Theonlyj2kk G'day mate. There's no such thing as a stupid question. Actually it's a pretty good one. The packer acts as a type of expansion joint between the bottom of the sheet and the floor as houses move and you need to cater for that. Cheers
Hi Shane, You're starting to look a little ragged mate! All this work wearing on you?Nevertheless,it's looking really good! Have a spot of tea for me too:) A very Happy New Year to you and your family!
+Jim Kodysz G'day Jim. I have to tell you mate it is taking a bit of a toll. For the last couple of months it's been 10 to 12 hours a day, 7 days a week but l'm getting there :-) The vids are shot on the go so some days l can look like l've just done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson :-) Have a good one mate and all the best to you and yours for 2016!
+Denis Minuz Denis, square setting is where you don't have any cornice (crown moulding). The ceiling just follows the wall and you finish up with a square edge. Hope that makes sense. Cheers mate

Three meter walls are nice and high, will really make the rooms seem huge and open.

Looks great! Happy New Year, Uncle Knackers!
+Josh F Thanks Josh! Same to you too mate. Cheers
It`s looking like a great home now Uncle Nackers
+Banjo111 1 Thanks mate
What about the horizontal joins? We usually put something behind them between the studs to stiffen them up and make sure it doesn't crack later on
+Geoffrey Brooker No one over here does that Geoff and we never have any problems. It's not even recommended by the plasterboard (drywall) manufacturers, Cheers mate and thanks for watching.
Geoff is the man! Nice legs! Gosh it's taking shape now....
+grumpy poo G'day Grumpy Poo. Jeff is the man :-) Can tell a good story too. Cheers mate :-)
Happy New Year Shane. Wish I'd seen that gyprock pencil before I did ours. Much classier than pencil, broom handle 'n lacky band. I learnt something tonight. Thanks. Its in the memory bank for the next reno. Its looking great.

+shane elson LOL…you'd need a pretty big ear :-)
Happy New Year Uncle Shano Knyackers!! Big year in store for you and the fam eh! Great stuff mate!
on a sombre note, it saddens me to see a dude of Geoffs vintage having to work in a great country like ours but great to see the old codgers got a slick trick or two for the up and comers :)
+Albert Kelly Same to you and yours too Albert. Jeff's an absolute classic. Good tradesman and has some ripping yarns at smoko and lunch. Cheers

What about the air conditioning system???
Not sure why you hang from the floor up? Seems that unless you are going to install crown molding you have an issue taping the rather large gap at the ceiling joint.
+HMWRKS G'day HMWRKS. We start from the floor in those rooms where we are installing cornice / crown molding. The only room in the house that we are square setting was the living room. Cheers.
Happy new year Shane :-) Good to see your videos again. Did you do something with your hair over the break?
+Marty Daley Happy new year to you too mate! Yeah l had to give it a bit of a trim…..l couldn't see :-) I resisted for as long as possible but l had to succumb :-) Cheers mate
may be a stupid question , but why no glue on the end studs?
+cammy470 No such thing as a stupid question Cammy. It's actually a pretty good one. You don't want to have any glue within around 300mm of any fixture (nail or screw). The reason being that the glue can contract and if you have a nail or screw near that dob of glue it will pop through the face of the sheet when the glue contracts which you don't want. Hope that makes sense. Cheers
+shaneconlan1 I understand now. Thanks
looks like you will be moving in next week?
+Our Build I wish James. Give it a month mate……hopefully :-)
+shaneconlan1 , I know the feeling mate, that month can easily turn into 3 before u know it :)
never seen glue being always drywall screws along every stud. im guessing glue cheaper? or just standard in your area?
+komandrew Using glue is standard practice over here. We screw, or nail every stud around the perimeter but apply dogs of glue in the middle of the sheet as you can see in the video. Have a good one and thanks for watching. Cheers

Warning, newbie question approaching: What is "square setting"?
+Denis Minuz Denis, square setting is where you don't have any cornice (crown moulding). The ceiling just follows the wall and you finish up with a square edge. Hope that makes sense. Cheers mate
+shaneconlan1 Thanks Shane!
About bloody time mate, thought you finished, sold the house, kids grew up and moved out and your youtube channel went extinct.
+Peter Linch LOL…sorry about that Peter :-) I'm back on track now with a truck load of vids in the vault so stay tuned. Cheers mate
+shaneconlan1 "vids in the vault".....can't wait!!!
+shaneconlan1 No apology needed my friend just an Aussie shit rag lol.....Love ya work
No no no. The first thing you have to do is get a milk crate!
+Denis Minuz LOL
