    I really like this, very effective. I was a doorman for thirty years and I used many restraining techniques. But I never let anyone touch me ever and when the SIA rules for physical intervention came in it practically destroyed a doormans ability to do their job.

      @ Agree I worked the doors for 15yrs mostly clubs in Birmingham, done my SIA last year thinking of going back and walked it and my cctv same but I'll never go back now you can't even put strain on joints now so all this shown can't be used in the UK, plus a doorman bud told me now if you have a argument say with a snotty pissed up student or office type and they take your number witch you have to provide on request and contact the SIA you will be unable to work for up to 3 months even if you've done nothing wrong while they " investigate " trouble is most the kids etc know this so your in the shit nowadays, and even if there's no case found to answer to you've still lost your earnings yet nothing happens to the person that put in a formal complaint, so no thankyou it's a mugs game now, it was a good job and it could be done in a firm but fair way as I said I did it for 15+ yrs and never had to assault anyone to do the job but now all the rules are against you and the money's the same as I was earning back in the 90s so now it's a very bad choice, and close protection is only any good if you are ex services or you won't get the right / contracts / jobs you don't have to believe me but I'm 55 and I know people that have close protection licences so think very hard before spending 2k+ for such I'm just being honest with you.. All the best

      @@karl53133 you actually don’t legally have to provide your name or sia number unless requested to do so by a licensing officer, SIA inspector or a police constable. I’m not sure if it’s changed from when you re-did yours but I did my door supervisor course in January this year and it states that wearing your badge on display isn’t for identification, it’s just to show people who you are and that you’re trained and licensed to be doing it. If somebody asks you for you’re details you can legally cover it up and not tell them anything.

    Very interesting to see the variances of opinion on what you can and cannot do as a uk doorman. Im doing an SIA course right now and from what i've been taught and the long time doormen i have met, i think it very much depends on where you work. Example, a 26 stone monster in a rough area like Brixton can get away with using more force as it depends on the perceived danger to yourself and those around you. You may use what is reasonable and necessary to avert danger, so I think these techniques which allow you to quickly take down an aggressor without injury are good and applicable in cases where someone just wants to fight you.

      Rocky Agreed, I seriously question your alleged profession with the comment that you made. "Screw the customer's entitlement...." yeah right, you are not law enforcement!! I've worked bar security and nightclub security for 15 years. Indeed, more training is needed, but not at the expense of seriously hurting or possibly critically injuring someone. At @1:26 the instructor trains the doormen to drop a knee (with his body weight) down onto the trachea of a patron. C'mon!!! This is unrealistic!! This is Krav Maga self-defense, NOT applicable in hospitality security. Go to SAMIR SEIF on RUclips if you want to see a more realistic and less dangerous method of restraining, detaining and escorting an uncompliant patron.

    all those people whining about how stupid or dangerous his techinques are, have never actually worked at a door and neither have been in a real confrontation. of course it has dangerous tendencies to put your knee on someone's neck but it depends on the pressure and control. so, all of you oh-so-skilled complainers, tell me what would you do if someone constantly pushed you? react with your "reasonable" or "equal" force, which would actually mean to push back? how would that help? it would only provoke the agressor and he would eventually punch you in the face. if you only knew a little of your shit, you would know that the number one priority is to NOT get hit. and also, if he pushes you, you also would not punch him straight in the face, that would be equally stupid. So, the only solution is to use restraining techniques to disarm him and protect yourself.

      I place my shin on the head or jaw. Pretty painful but a lot safer than leaning on the Trachea which is made of cartilage and muscle. I’ve been a doorman for 20+ years and never hurt anyone seriously. How many pro fighters do you see catching fists / fingers in mid air, doesn’t work outside the Matrix! A few KO’s when all else fails, but only maybe 10 in 20 years which I think is good. Best technique for a restraint is Guilotine or Rear Naked. Actually never KO’d anyone since learning chokes.

    At first I found it funny how people respect this but not aikido. Now I see it's because aikido teaches defense from strikes, this is preemptive so it never goes into strikes. Small joint manipulation RARELY works in the heat of a fight, but it never hurts to use it as kindling.

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall Год назад

      I respect Aikido, I think it's probably a good base
      for doormen to know. I don't see any of it working
      against a 'real' fighter though, they don't punch
      in slow motion.
      You might have time to duck or
      weave, if he starts to swing at you,
      but best be able to counter strike or react with
      boxing, kick boxing, jujitsu etc.
      A really strong man is not going to let you
      twist his wrist etc , even with two hands. shrugs..

Most of these concerned critics never worked on a London door. The moment they touch you and don't listen to your calm warning ANYTHING can happen. They might have decided in their drunk, stoned or plain evil minds to kick your head in. Shut up if you dont do this job.

      Not really, it's the law under seaction 3.1 criminal law act 1967 and seaction 78 criminal justice and immigration act 2008.
      The force you use has to be reasonable, i.e necessity and proportionate. Kneeling on someone's neck (which is a high risk move) is neither of them.

    • @mattybt400
      @mattybt400 8 лет назад +8

      The video is teaching a technique. It cannot and should not seek to explain every scenario where it would be judged reasonable or not.
      Lawrence Helliadis(Palmer v R ,1971 A.C. 814);
      " If there has been an attack so that self defence is reasonably necessary, it will be recognised that a person defending himself cannot weigh to a nicety the exact measure of his defensive action.
      If the jury thought that that in a moment of unexpected anguish a person attacked had only done what he honestly and instinctively thought necessary, that would be...evidence that only reasonable defensive action had [actually] been taken...".
      It is not necessary to prove that the person acted in response to level of violence actually being offered to them - but only that they acted in reponse to the circumstances as they genuinely believed them to be at the time.
      Each situation would be judged in it's own merits

    If you are big, learn how to wrestle and practice it, unless you work at an easy bar.

      Naw, you are just a dumbass who believes all that shit. The real reason he died was because he was on meth and fentanyl. He wouldn't have died otherwise. I have been held down like that as well, when i was in the army. But look at that, i'm still alive. So yea, all the blame goes on George himself. For being a criminal and using drugs.

      Bill Nye The Nazi Spy well I WAS a police officer for 10 years and we were FORBIDDEN in my state to use force anywhere on the head, neck, groin, elbow, or knee joints. The reason it was forbidden was because it could cause serious bodily damage or death. We were also taught to immediately cease use of force, as soon as the person we were arresting was brought back into compliance. Whether George was on drugs or not, whether he had committed a crime or not, whether he resisted arrest or not; those officers acted inappropriately. Chauvin let it get personal and was punishing Floyd for it. Nothing Floyd did warranted his murder. I have the upmost respect for our military men and women, and have many family members who have served. But don’t try to compare whatever your military experience was to this incident; they are entirely UNRELATED. So maybe you should think twice about things you know NOTHING about, before you start calling people a dumbass!

    Nice show with the Hoofs bro, unfortunately placing a hand on you doesnt give you express rights to use force. Of course there is walk away, ring Police as the primary technique!

    • @dratsab1980able
      @dratsab1980able 9 лет назад

      Its just an example, no one calmly walks up and puts one hand on you, its when the skuffle has begun and at some point his arm is near or in that position, then you use these techniques. You cant just walk away or you have failed at ur job infront of everyone! Thats why ur there.

    • @jamesbroughton7635
      @jamesbroughton7635 9 лет назад

      dratsab1980 Mate you are either very new to this job or one lucky son of a bitch! Where I work, I am more worried about the GROUP of drunk and out of it Gang members coming at me, with one picking a bottle out of the trash can ready to either put over my head or inside my guts, with his mates in on the 'Boots' Chorus! -That's the reality of a street fight!
      I wouldnt go using those techniques if you paid me to mate. Furthermore I dont see why you are on here demonstrating for, when clearly you have no basis to assume that they will work in the field, outside this video except for what you tell me!!
      I dont work in Girly bars or Clubs where you might work and where these techniques may realistically work on yuppies and drunk kids! I work in an environment whereby they sweep up the eyeballs at closing and every guy is well over 6ft, black, has a criminal record and ultimately fights in a pack!!
      I take those issues into very serious consideration before I launch off any Offensive or Defensive response.
      Again, if you worked in bars where I have then you will know from real experience that ringing the Police and keeping things cool is the very real option for myself and my staff... And not to go seizing opportunities to show off your Martial Arts skills by inflaming situations and generally initiating things that could get my staff injured, fined and jailed or killed!!
      Simply my son, we dont walk away from trouble ever! However, in Tough bars we manage a hostile or unmanageable situation back into a manageable one. A 4th Dan Jiu Jitsu instructor has no business telling me what's best for me and my crew!
      Lesson over.
