  • Record Alice V2 is a great ergo keyboard that lends itself well to high-pitched, clacky switches. I already knew HMX was gonna go great in this but some mods were required. There's quite a bit of metal resonance and slight hollowness as well. Moreover, the stabs are also also not perfect so I ended up doing a fully modded build to compare with a "thocky" stock one.
    Stock Config:
    Gateron Lunar Probe (stock)
    MT3 Susuwatari keycaps
    Modded Config:
    HMX Xinhai (stock)
    GMK Modern Dolch
    MODS:
All foams removed except PET Sheet
Tape mod covering all flex cuts
    Polyfill mod
    Force break mod
    Relubed plate-mount stabs
I'm surprised (and glad) that a board this accessible has such a clean, neutral, and lively sound without foam. Honestly, with all the foams it sounds too thin and character-less to me but still pretty satisfying for the masses.
