  • Colorado Overlanding: Is Black Bear Pass Worth the Hype?
    We are starting the day traveling over Black Bear Pass which will lead us into Telluride Colorado. This history town is epic, and known for its massive waterfall that can be seen from nearly anywhere in town. We will be on paved roads for less than 3 miles, and headed back onto Imogene pass where we can check out some history mining towns.
    This trail is epic. The views are incredible. That being said, Its over hyped. There are little to no campsites along the trail. So while it might be a bucket list item, after doing it once it really doesn't intrigue me. If you are looking for a trail for the crew to travel and find home for the night, this isnt it.
    This trail is WAY more sketchy if your top heavy with a roof top tent. Other vehicles don't have near the same risks. Its all about having a good spotter.
    Follow along for this epic and beautiful mining route.

    Hello mate. I am from Southern Africa, 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe. I liked the video on the Grenadier, that's what made me subscribe and that's also the first time I saw your channel. Thanks, for the review, hopefully you get a chance to test the vehicle for everyday use by outdoor enthusiasts in the real world. I grew up on a farm, so naturally I love the outdoors and everything to do with nature, offroading, overlanding, hiking, camping etc etc. So such products are important to me. Cheers see you in the next video!

      Thank you for watching! We have wanted to visit South Africa for quite some time, in the next few years I would very much like to take a 4x4 journey to see the Skeleton Coast. Absolutely beautiful out there!
      I’ve got some more cool adventure videos coming up! They were all filmed months ago, but I have trouble keeping up with editing since I have such little free time.
      Thank you for watching Tawonezvi!

    What rear springs are you running on your fj? I currently have toyotec super springs, but now that I've added an alucab tent I can hit the bump stops. I'm worried the toyotec hd version might not be enough.

      These are the Dobinson C59-701v. They are a 600lb constant load. It looks like Mainline Overland has a sale on them currently. Works pretty well for my setup!

      Thanks Tyler just ordered some dobinsons 300-600 lb springs, which is kinda the way I was leaning. I have been waiting for a black Friday sale, thanks for the info that it started early. Everyone seems to be trying to get some money before everyone is completely out. Thanks again

    Tyler, what brand is the pair of hiking shoes/boots you’re wearing?

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  Год назад +3

      I get asked that surprisingly often. They are the Crispi Monaco. Italian made boots, quality is superb. Many of their other options are for mountaineering/hunting and are quite stiff so I wouldn't stray too far from the Manaco for all around use. I have one of their stiffer boots and its not easy to drive with. The absolute cheapest place I know to get them is this website. Excellent customer service as well. bit.ly/3bL1CMP

    I have an alucab on my GX470, 3” lift with “long travel” rear and no rear sway bar and 33s. It feels pretty tippy but wondering if you think I could/should do this? Don’t wanna be another rollover on this trail 😬

    • @IndependenceOverland

      Basically the same vehicle as me. If you have a good spotter and you have trained yourself not to hit the brake when you get nervous, I think you will be fine.
