    In the '80s and 90s, my wife and I visited there and the Gunnison range every year. Our old, stock Landcruiser did it all. I used bias ply Summit tires at 12 lbs. They got us over sharp rocks, limbs, mud, etc.

    Just some basic advice, just say you guys don’t know how to fish instead of saying “there are zero fish in this lake” that couldn’t be further from the truth. That lake is loaded with trout. Comment said at timer mark 37:XX. I highly suggest learning tenkara Flyfishing. It’s easy to learn and set up and your success rate will go way up! Overall video well done, hangin with the boys is the key!

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  Год назад +1

      I am Tenkara fishing at the end of the video. My friend Kurtis didn't grow up fishing, but I certainly did. I spent the vast majority of my childhood fishing with my dad on lakes, rivers and streams.. I'm willing to bet my old man is on his bass boat as I type this. Maybe there are some fish in this water, but it is polluted with minerals from old mines and with polarized glasses you couldn't see a single fish on a cool overcast evening. More happens on these trips than what you see in videos. So saying zero fish isn't far off, they certainly weren't thriving there.

    You mentioned the difference in trails you and Jess like to do. How do you guide yourself along those paths? Is there a trail difficulty rating you try to stick to?

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  5 месяцев назад

      If it’s me and Jesse, we will try hard stuff but I do research on a trail if it’s hard usually I’m not really much for trying trails and having to turn around, I’m all about getting to cool campsites. Some trails are rated as hard and end up being what I would call easy, and some are rated as hard and you need a 37” tire minimum to get through. So research is key.

    Hey just wanted to point out that your calculations for depth on the rock through the grating are wayyyy off. Terminal velocity takes time to hit and is based on weight. A person takes 12 seconds to hit tv @ roughly 180mph. That rock would be closer to 8 seconds at 125mph. Wouldn't want to fall into it either way. But your calculations were based on the rock was already at tv when it hit the grating.

    Your last campsite is pretty nice, we drove solo up past that on the shelf road/ scree slope. Our jeep on tons and 40’s was too wide for the road, slipped off and almost lost the Jeep. Managed to winch out with no solid anchors. A memory I will never forget. A beautiful area for sure and the best part is that no one goes up there.
