- Established in 1977, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) operates the world’s most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program, rescuing and hand-rearing orphaned elephants and other animals that have lost their mothers, all too often as a result of human activity. But we do much more than this. Through our Aerial, Anti-Poaching and Mobile Veterinary Units, we safeguard the natural environment and provide immediate assistance to wild animals in need. We also secure irreplaceable wilderness areas so that animals will always have space to roam and work with local partners and communities to ensure people and wildlife can live alongside one another.

Look at those two, young themselves, keep watch over her while she sleeps. They’re such wonderful creatures.
It's amazing to realize that these orphans are all 2 years or younger, which for elephants, is the equivalent of a human that age. They have to mature and grow up so fast as babies.
@@badgyrl310 So true. Their instincts for protectiveness are so strong and downright heartwarming. I saw a video of a three-year old ellie blocking a full-grown bull from getting close to her baby sister.
@@gabe-po9yiI really want to give a big Thanks to your organization on behalf of myself and many other Safari hunters. You and your donors are going to give us the best hunting weve ever seen in about 5 years when these babies became insatiable adults put into a shrinking habit. Most definitely there will be an overpopulation problem, these beasts will destroy entire ecosystems and they will either be a cull or they will sell hunting licenses begging for us to come correct the trainwreck you and your donors will cause. Talk about a target rich environment! Thanks again guys 😂 by the way how many sick and hungry children did you fly over in the private plane on your way to rescue this beast? Shameful !

Be great to see these earlier rescued orphans now.
It was very sweet of Thano and Naipoki to stand guard by her side while she sleeps.
That was so heart warming the way the other two orphans stood guard for the baby to nap😁 My hero's, thank you for all you do.
Oh..the unconditional love, care & compassion that these beautiful animals have for each other, from such a young age & without any familial link..it’s a truly wonderful sight to see.❣️🇬🇧🏴
Oh my God..the amount of energy that these keepers have to keep up with the babies are amazing. Thank you gentlemen.

This poor little one sleeps like an angel! 🧚♂️🐘 Lovely! 💓
Unfortunately she passed away 2 weeks after her rescue, in April 2012. She had intestinal infection and diarrhoe. Antibiotics and infusions were given to her, but despite of all efforts of the medical staff and carers she became more and more weeker, and passed away.😨😥😢 R.I.P. sweet little darling!
@@AgnesKortvelyesiThanks for your reply. Most elephants have a hard life...😢
Oh how tiny & vulnerable she is. Thank heavens she was found & is now in the best of hands ❣️🏴🇬🇧
Unfortunately she passed away 2 weeks after her rescue.😥
Amazing how the other orfhan stands Gard 🥰
Those close up shots of Maralal & the keeper feeding her were way beyond endearing. DWST 😇😇😇😇 ♡♡♡♡
The man that was feeding her almost looked like he was communicating with her with his thoughts. So cool.
I watched this video 3 times i love how when she's sleeping no one touches her to see if she's ok they just know, & then when she wakes immediately both touch her so she can feel secure & loved
Again thank you Sheldrick
So glad to see the baby is surrounded by love from both human and other baby elephants 😊
I think it is wonderful how the older orphans were guarding her as she took her nap!
Gracias por ser generosos , respetuosos ,afectivos con los bebés y jóvenes elefantes. 😊❤️❤️❤️🐘❤️❤️❤️😊

RIP brave, beautiful little Maralel. You tried so hard but you were just too little. I hope you are reunited with your family over the rainbow bridge
The Keepers and people who make this possible are awesome!
All of the men caregivers are wonderful but this man in particular is very sweet. I'm so grateful to these wonderful men who work for Daphne Sheldrick taking such beautiful care of the orphans within their charge. We are all greatly saddened by the fact that Maralal was unable to sustain life even after such good care. Infant elephants are very complex. More than 50 years ago DAPHNE SHELDRICK was the first & ONLY human to figure out how to be able to keep them alive.
Que ternurita 🤗🤗🤗🐘😍😍😍😍🥰🥰
she is the cutest thing ever!
Beautiful Maralal❤️My heart ❤️ is just full of love. This took place years ago but the rescue still pulls at me heart strings. I hope your continuing to do well thanks to the DWF.
Unfortunately she passed away just 2 weeks after her rescue. She got intestinal infection and diarrhoe. Despite antibiotics and infusions, which were given to her, and the devoted work of the medical staff and her caretakers she suddenly passed away. R.I.P. little darling!🖤😰😥😢
Aaaargh the videos are always too short. I never get tired (but perhaps a wee bit jealous) of seeing the just how unimaginably awarding it must connecting in a truly profound and powerful way that I imagine would serve the entire human kind to experience in som way or another. So thank y’all for giving us, me the privilege to get a glimpse into the
Thank you to each and every one of those that rescued this treasure.
Unfortunately she passed away 2 weeks after her rescue.😢
Blessed be the carers of these amazing and beautiful animals.
I LOVE YOU PEOPLE! WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS JUST FANTASTIC! EACH ONE OF US SHOULD BE DOING THE SAME…SAVING,PROTECTING, DEFENDING AND HELPING ANIMALS.
If we are they're biggest problem , we are indebted to being their salvation . Because it would be a soulless planet without their innocent souls .
Absolutely right.
Gianfranco Fronzi how wonderfully put!❣️🏴🇬🇧
Have you lost your mind? I'm not in debt to any animal whatsoever. Weirdo
awww, such a tiny, adorable baby elephant... I hope she thrives in your care and grows up to be a healthy elephant :)
Unfortunately she didn't. She passed away 2 weeks after her rescue, in April 2012.😢
thank you DSWT and the whole staff of "green angels" whatever you done for our orphans. GOD will bless you for your work....

RIP to Tano. It was joyous seeing Tano on guard as the baby slept.
She's so adorable, I wish her the best and thanks to keepers who do everything to help them x
Unfortunately she passed away 2 weeks after her rescue, in April of 2012.😰
Such a precious baby. Thanks so much for these wonderful care givers.
So tiny!! Such a precious being!!!
She's exquisite

Unfortunately she passed away just 2 weeks after her rescue, in April 2012.
Gran labor realizan bendiciones 🙏🐘❤🐘🐘❤
Sweet, precious baby.
이뻐 이뻐.. 이쁜아기.
Congratulations, I too find it wonderful to see how the older orphans kept her while she was taking a nap! I don't want to forget all the care of the staff of the center who treated him, gave him a drink and saved him from an announced death.
But unfortunately despite of all efforts she passed away 2 weeks after her rescue, in April 2012.😥
Maralal was my first foster elephant at DSWT. Sadly, she did not make it. Then I fostered Barsilinga and now I have Garzi too. It is the best $50 a year you could ever spend. Please go to their website and foster an elephant. You are helping to save a life. RIP sweet Maralal

She is so precious!
Could u imagine if people took a cue from elephants n took care of abandoned children..at elephant nature park i have seen them breast feed rescused babies n become a mom n there is always one who wants to be the nanny/auntie..vwry beautiful baby..thanks for sharing
Aw...so cute sleeping baby :)
I love you baby Elephant.. Thank you so much 🐘❤🙏
elephants are amazing creatures.
There are always going to be people that need help, doesn't mean we should just let this innocent species become extinct.
DSWT is so wonderful in their effort to rescue and fight for all these helpless yet such intelligent creatures, have fostered many babies over the years and still do......if each of us can allocate just $50.00 minimum a year it will do so much good.
I was thinking about that. $5 a month is $60.
All humans need to appreciate and cherish the beautiful animals and natural world with an endless and fierce determination or it will soon be wiped out forever.
❤❤❤❤💝🐘⚘🌷🙌🙏👌thank You so much Hollanda❤🐘❤🐘❤

Yes. She didn't even make it. She died just 2 weeks after her rescue, in April 2012.

God bless all the keepers, asit is very hard work and you love the elephants so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful
Interessante como os outros elefantes acolhem o órfão, cuidando dele.

Adorable hermoso bebé 🤗😍🥰🤩😘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘son unas ternurita 🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
U ppl r world's most Noble gift 😘😘😘😘
God bless you all🐘❤️🙏
I agree that professionals should be there all the day, babies are so naughty sometimes when they play but volonteers in double of keepers some hours a day will be a good experience to teach humans of the planet that elephants should be protected. I went in Thailand like volonteers for 3 weeks at Elephant Nature Park, the mahouts was with the elephants every time but we could help to prepar the baskets and give food to the elephants. This experience is unforgettable !
Lots of orphan baby😭....why??????????????.
......dswt's keepers are the real heroes...hatsofff❤
beautiful animal ,great people

I'm not entirely sure what your asking me but I lived in Chiang Mai (if that was what you were asking) Unless your talking about the elephants in which case when I was older I came back and went to elephantstay. However I have heard some truly wonderful things about Elephant Nature Park and I have no doubt that is was a great expereince.
Awww thank god!
elephants are so lucky… i wanna trunk. ☮️ ❤🌍🌏🌎
Lovely haw tje man touches him on the forhead as the mothers skin would have done were she alive and there ❤
So cute baby elephant... 😘😘😘😘😘
very nice
😍🐘🍼❤️👍🤗
Dear Jane, you did not tell where you are in Thailand.....I know very well these elephants I was at Elephant Nature Park 2 months in march and april and it was like a paradise
Damn, she didn't make it. I just can't watch these where the orphan didn't make it. Just breaks my heart.
lol sorryf or the late response. I'm actually from Thailand so I am well aware of elephants and mahouts and I to have been very lucky enough to get to work with them there as well. However, Asian Elephants (especially in thailand) are domesticated. African elephants are not. They are being trained to go back to in the wild hence the minial contact with other humans. :D I do hope you get to go to Thailand again and work with those elephants.
Love you ALL
JAMBO❤❤❤❤
It is very confusing to see all these orphaned elephants when you see how very protected they are in a group setting.
How they circle the youth and become so protective.
What causes the adults to leave the babies behind?
❤❤❤❤
How did they know this baby was an orphan? She (the baby) looks so brand new. There had to be a female around close by, either dead or alive. I'm only asking because the video does not show how they ascertained this baby was an orphan.
There wasn't the herd around the baby when she was pulled from the well. Generally, the park service will let the baby roam after the baby is pulled from the well. If a Mother does not come by in a reasonable time, the baby elephant is considered an orphan.
DSWT is experienced in saving animals 👍
Amazing
How's Maralal now?
Bom assim😔👧♩🎶💔
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Humans that may have to feed their children out of a dump have a choice whether to have children or not. Perhaps the better choice is to not have them in the first place. On the otherhand, wildlife are affected by human choices and need our assistance when it is not in their favor. In my humble opinion, the priority is perfectly in place.
I wonder how long baby was in well? I wonder how long mother waited b4 giving up? Young baby.
