    • @SuneSkeel
      @SuneSkeel 6 лет назад +10

      is it? Sounds more like a pinch harmonic to me. Though i'm not really a machine head fan, so i only go by ear (and that might turn out to suck :p )

    • @grantbowers2319
      @grantbowers2319 6 лет назад +17

      Sune Kristensen it's definitely a natural harmonic, punch harmonics sound more like a squeal and natural harmonics suck as this in sound more bell like

    • @SuneSkeel
      @SuneSkeel 6 лет назад

      Yeah, you probably right. i don't claim to be an expert on this :) My ear just told me it hat the squeal of a pinch more than that of a natural.

    The high pitch "Beep" is a natural harmonic on the guitar

      It's not an artificial harmonic (pinch harmonic) ?

    • @DecimasoN

      It's definitely a natural harmonic mate, I play this song myself on guitar and it's the G string 5th fret.

    • @ababafgatg
      @ababafgatg 6 лет назад +3

      It’s a natural harmonic. It’s done by gently resting your finger on the string above the fret

    Since I saw "Machine Head - Halo" I was hoping yor reaction about the middle instrumental section but...never existed 😔
    Anyway, I keep loving your metal reacts, the way I can revisit songs that I've heard thousands times through your ears...different ways to see them, from "no prejudice" and open minded. Keep rocking, men!!

      @@NowILayTheeDownMFH The song is brilliant, but its the whole thing put together which makes it one of the great metal songs. From where it starts at the beginning, drifts into the solos in the middle then brings it back so it was a shame not to have that bit for the full song to be judged

  • @mnspstudioful
    @mnspstudioful 6 лет назад +176

    This is why I'm subbed to you guys. Clearly, the subject matter of the lyrics is controversial and you (and many of your subs) very well may disagree with said subject matter or point, yet you guys went above and beyond to discuss this, then judge the lyrical quality and musicality rather than ignoring the artist or song for those reasons. Truly, kudos guys. I keep coming back to see you listen to some of my favorite groups and songs as well as discover new stuff.

    • @FlavioDeBern92
      @FlavioDeBern92 6 лет назад +12

      i'd like to add something to what he said: i don't know if you guys are musicians yourselves, but you both seem to really listen to music like a musician would. there's so many details that a lot of people don't even acknowledge but you often point out these exact things, and most importantly, you always stay very objective and whether you like a song or not, you always explain your view in an understandable way. keep up the good work guys!

      Yeah, I find this song pretty ignorant and quite offensive, but it IS very well done and also well put together. Strange combo in that way ....well for me at least. But yeah, technically quite good.

      Ryan Thomas way to step on the point of being open minded and having respect even though you dont share the same opinions....

    • @hulkslayer626
      @hulkslayer626 6 лет назад

      Ryan Thomas right, he thinks it's ignorant and offensive... but still appreciated the song. That's as open minded and free thinking as you can get. My opinion is if someone completely disagrees with everything about the lyrical content of a song, but can still appreciate it, they shouldn't be called names or ridiculed. Especially not on this channel. He ridiculed the song, you ridiculed the person.

  • @Tormentor98
    @Tormentor98 6 лет назад +69

    Holy shit, you finally did it!
    By the way, that "beep" you ask for at 1:20 is the guitar; a natural harmonic, which is a sound produced by lightly touching a string at a certain fret.
    Now, it is time for you to react to Flesh And The Power It Holds by Death!!!

    I might be the only person requesting Clutch, but I'm going to keep pushing it.
    Clutch is a fascinating band. They've been around since 1993, and are one of the most underrated and unappreciated hard rock bands of all time. Clutch songs are frequently propelled by fuzzy, Sabbath-y, blues-inspired guitar riffs and heavy, driving drum grooves and bass lines. Their songs are a genre-bending hybrid of funk, jazz, metal, hard rock, and blues. Their lead singer, Neil Fallon, sounds like a truck-driving preacher dabbling in history, philosophy, and conspiracy theories. I'd strongly recommend checking out either 'The Regulator' or 'Electric Worry' as being good intro songs to Clutch, but I'd love to see you guys do 'The Regulator' personally.

    The "beep" is a "natural harmonic" where you don't push down on the strings fully, instead you lightly rest them at certain sections so of the string so you just get the "ring" sound which is a note that is produced by the string but is normally just a part of the tone.
    Dope reaction as always. I normally don't comment cuz I'm a lurking expert but I like to drop knowledge since I play guitar and love to share :-) This is totally one of my favorite songs, glad you finally reacted to this.

    Shoutout to me!!Im SOO one of'em!! Imonna bask in that glory... ;-PMAN!!! I was listening to MH and was on the forth album in a row when Lost in Vegas popped into my head making me check out youtube for a new video. First one that came up was THIS!! I almost fell out of bed and made me fo my victory dance. So pleasantly suprised!!!
    I knew Ryan would like the guitars and for you, George, there are a few other song where percussionist, Dave McClain, is INSANE.There's definitely more to listen to from MH before you write them off.
    You have to look into the songs as a whole. Growing up with Maiden and harmonising guitars, which you find quite alot in MH material also, I love the contrast it brings to the filthy riffs. And the raw vs the delicate....Whoa!!AW man I could go on forever.If you guys dont do anymore Machine Head after this one I will still die happy. But please check them out more on your own so many awesome details and structures in their material it's crazy!Highly recommend the albums Unto the Locust and The Blackening for the most complete musical experience.Big Fat thanx for this video, Guys. It made my evening. Always enjoyable to whatch your stuff. Coolest channel I've found so far!!Peas, Bros.

    Honestly, seeing you guys react to some of my favourite songs is always amazing. This song is one that got me into heavier music.
    If you're wondering what the high pitched sound is, it's called a 'Natural Harmonic' (NH). It's one of 3 types of harmonics that one can make using a guitar. The NH is made by placing one's finger just above the string (as opposed to pushing down on it) and plucking in very specific places along the string to get a high pitched sound. Depending on which of the special places one chooses, a different pitch is heard.
    Great examples of other strange harmonics can be found across music, e.g. Killswitch Engage, Veil of Maya (Leeloo), InMe (Single of the Weak), CHON (Perfect Pillow).
    I'd love to see your reaction to Protest The Hero - Plato's Tripartite or Periphery - 22 Faces, though!

    Really glad that you did this song as I requested it, but you reviewed the wrong version!! This is the "short" 5min version edited for the video instead of the full 9min song from the album :-( The long version is SO much better, it has a better intro, better transitions and an absolutely epic 1min40 guitar solo/duo...

      Demag hollow is a great song. It’s just a slow build up. About 3 minutes in until shit gets heavy. Domination would be a better choice for them to play next.

    Hey guys first off I love your channel and as a metalhead I appreciate the hell out of your openmindeness. The sound you were asking about is actually a harmonic which is a guitar technique utilized often in metal. In this case I believe they use the natural harmonic instead of a pinch harmonic to get that particular sound. Love the channel guys. keep it heavy \m/

      As a sixty something heavy rock fan , this was the first Heavy Metal album i got into , I took my then teenage son to see them back in 2010 , he got me into them , just like Purple on steroids , even down to the Bolero time signature on one of the tracks , which Purple had done back in the early 70's.

      Lol, they would never get past the harsh, witch-like voice and concentrate on the instruments. I would like them to listen first to Voice of the soul on private just to get an idea of the amazing musicality of the band before judging the vocals. I guarantee they'd hate it

    • @endlessorbaggins8223
      @endlessorbaggins8223 6 лет назад +1

      I am for them to cover Death. Personnally, would not recommend them Flesh as an introduction to the band. Would suggest something from the Symbolic album. Also, I think if songs are more than 6 min long they cut it as lot so their final video be no more than about 10 min.
