    What a great video on the process, not only giving the steps but providing bolt sizes and fluid capacities. Thanks

      As per the manual of '14-'18 Tuscon and Sonata, the manual calls for fluid *change* and this process seems like a flush which is not called for. But I am no expert so maybe I am interpreting this situation wrong and I would love to hear your feedback if you know more than me on this which is likely. I thought a tranny fluid change is drain it then refill it?

      @@gotacallfromvishalflush is the act of pressure pushing it out. The drained this then refilling it ! It was done correctly !

    I filled the ATF from the top because my transfer fluid pump did not work. I put in the same amount that was drained. To prevent air bubbles from causing the ATF to leak out, I disconnected one of the transmission cooler hoses.

      @@optimummind Just did this today on my 18 elantra.All good so far. Got about 3.5 quarts out. Put the same amount back in. Fairly easy Job. Will definitely do a second one as my orogonal fluid was fairly dark. Not nearly as bad as i thought it be though at 90k miles. Still had a shade of red while draining which was surprising.

    How often do you change the transmission fluid on your vehicle? Cant find anything on transmission fluid change on the service manual.

    • @TheSokodelic
      @TheSokodelic 7 месяцев назад

      Basically every 30,000-40,000.

      That's because Hyundai claims it doesn't have to be changed on these vehicles unless you fall under their "severe usage" criteria, in which case it's every 60k miles. That would explain why it's not in the manual. I'll copy and paste their actual service bulletin for you here:
      (Hyundai)
      ATF of 6 speed automatic transaxle doesn't need to be replaced. But, if the vehicle is severe use or business use, replace ATF every 60,000 miles for severe usage.
      Severe usage is defined as
      Driving in rough road (Bumpy, Gravel, Snowy, Unpaved road, etc)
      Driving in mountain road, ascent/descent
      Repetition of short distance driving
      More than 50% operation in heavy city traffic during hot weather above 32°C(89.6°F).
      Police, Taxi, Commercial type operation or trailer towing, etc

    Is this a fluid change or a pump/flush? Hyundai manual makes it very clear you REPLACE the fluid of the tranny and coolant there is no flushing or pumping. But I know nothing about mechanics so correct me if I'm wrong here about whether pumping material thru a tranny is not a flush

    • @brenth7774

      It’s a sealed transmission so in order to do so you’d literally have to take the entire transmission apart is what I’m told

      Not without opening the transmission entirely.. so nope

    Probably easier to fill from the top, open the overflow drain.

    • @brenth7774
      @brenth7774  Год назад +3

      You still have to check the level so it makes sense to just fill that way also, you're already there anyway to drain it.
